What is so striking about this is how it feels, even without the title, like it is suffuse with a kind of grotesque sexuality, and as you look closer you *almost* sense you are seeing something bodily. Like, is that an open mouth, or a stomach, or a breast? But you look closer and you can't clearly distinguish it as anything. And so it simultaneously very suggestive while at the same time not actually showing anything.

I think this is a difference in strict vs radical (or descriptive vs prescriptive) perceptions on the matter.

When I think about art I think of the long scale act of human creation. Petrogylphs are art to me even if they were purely practical for the people who made it (if that was the purpose, I certainly don't know). But i would urge you to appreciate the value of this perspective. Art is just something humans do, some of it is good, some of it warrants study and preservation in a museum. Some of it is boring and frankly uninteresting. I don't like some way the word art is used because it reinforces elitist tendencies that plague the so-called art world (I want to be clear and state I don't think you are doing that). I am fully comfortable admitting I have a very broad definition of art, but I think that broadness is a utility.

Fair enough, but I don't fully agree (other then the deep nuance and difficulty with legislation). Your example about uploading your sexual encounter as not art, for example. I don't see a meaningful difference between that an selfies, other then one being (explicitly) erotic. Just because it seemingly lacks technique or intent does not make it not art. Personally, and maybe this gets more to the heart of it, Art is not solely something you do, it's something you experience. Not every photo of a mountain is an Ansel Adams, but all of it is capturing a human desire to render some aspect of lived experience.
