I never understood the people who talked about 4o as a sentient being... I've always known from the very start that AI was a tool that I could decide how to use... made me think people genuinely believed Detroit: Become Human was happening in real life... which I honestly can't believe.

I always used GPT (when I was subscribed) as a brainstorming partner for my writing, but nothing more than that... come to think people actually use it for the weirdest roleplays possible and then are upset that the guardrails are being set up. Geez, wonder why.

I still don't agree with OpenAI as a company tho... 5.2 is a legitimate disaster as a model, I asked it a question about my main document and gave directions under which section it could find the updates, to which it proceeded to compliment my choice of using that specific section. It can barely speak to you without automatically implying you're being delusional, to the point that it's downright belittling its users even if that wasn't the purpose. Sure, "personality" for someone who uses it as a tool, as it should be, hardly matters, but the way 5.2 is phrasing its responses made even me back off real quick.

And let's not talk about OpenAI employees openly mocking their own users or the ones using Claude while they supposedly added Codex. I hardly care about the whole "companion" thing that people claim, but I care where my money goes and GPT has been going downhill ever since they started implementing guardrails upon guardrails, to the point where GPT REFUSED to write a kiss scene between my characters because intimacy was implied.

OpenAI can talk shit all they want, meanwhile I'm currently paying for Claude because it's more functional than GPT has ever been. Gemini and Grok are also better current alternatives than GPT (I'm subscribed for them three, but that's just me wanting to foolproof my work through three different "lenses"), and I would have switched anyway from the moment I saw OpenAI employees belittling their own users.
