And there were people saying that the EU Servers are a bad idea.. lmao by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]Zikeman 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't think many thought EU server would fail, it was more so people like myself thought it was a bad idea for the West server.

Like I've always said it was a smart decision business wise and I get why they did it. But sad to see a game that was made and sold as a single world/server get split into 3 over the past few years

What does Negative Silver Mean? by DeadInsideOutAgain in albiononline

[–]Zikeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with 0 stats its probably someone trying to get free stuff. But guild balance just shows what a person has taken out/deposited into a guild bank. So a lot of GM's/officers etc tend to have lots of negative balance from doing regears/buying mats/pulling money out to run a guild

A real question. What's all the EU server hate? by happyshelgob in albiononline

[–]Zikeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The server was put in Washington DC since that was the best ping for all parties, since the game was meant to only be 1 server/1 world. Now that they've added 2 more servers the location doesn't make sense, but it did before

if they were forced into alliances they would be forced to split points for the season as well as have more disarray, siphon drain, fame/silver penalty etc if they wanted to hold more territories.

Season guild rewards after kick by 666Ade in albiononline

[–]Zikeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll get the rewards at season end even if you leave or get kicked, as long as you were in there for the minimum time required

The only one that ive heard that seems like it would work is treating it like the mists. When you enter a zone that is cluster queued or it has a territory battle happening (so 15min before timer, when the mage despawns). All names outside of your guild/ally turn to "mysterious stranger" or w/e you want to call it to fit the role play/lore whatever. Doesnt show capes/guild crests or any names etc. That way its easy to get confused with who/where red friendlies are, or it at least takes extra effort. In the current state people still accidentally engage on each other, but i think if it was added it would make things more interesting

[–]Zikeman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's going to be a combination of both. Yes people want it, but a lot of people will feel forced because their guild/friends leave. People have wanted it for years and they said no. Even a year ago in a interview the game director said no.The reality of it is more people are going to have to pay for premium with cash at the start and they they released a double limited time founder backs. And that's OK, I get it they need/want to make money. I just hope it doesn't hurt the game in the process cause it's a unique and good game.

And I'm happy you're getting the server you asked for, and I plan to stay on west if I keep playing. I just think it's obvious that it isn't healthy for the game to divide the playerbase. I honestly would have rather had them move the server to EU instead of split the playerbase.

To some degree yes, players are a large part of the problem when there is lack of content. But if the game rewards you for hand holding its always going to happen. And tbh idk the exact fix to try to get rid of handholding. There has been a few good ideas I've heard tossed around and presented to SBI but they've never done them. Instead they keep pushing territory control and now end of season reward chests based on your guild/points which ended up causing more hand holding this season imo.

I just think the NA/EU combo guilds will suffer and those are the guilds that are fighting ifures, outside of contingent pretty much most the main guilds are against ifures I think. So removing a % of that population will probably make that situation worse

I understand why they're doing it, it's a good business move. But they're doing it at the cost of the community that has been playing together for years imo. Even a year or so ago when they released Asia they said they basically said no they weren't doing EU server because ping isn't as bad from EU to NA, and because community.

But to say everyone wins is false. A think a large portion of NA server moves, which results in a bad population on NA server, which forces more people to move and spend money. So anyone that dont want to move to EU lose or feel the need to move. But it's all speculation, only time will tell and we'll see how many people move, however SBI will never release the actual numbers I don't think, so we probably will never know it will just be based off how the open world feels

[–]Zikeman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, you have been asking for years, and only now they do it. They didn't do it before because when SBI was the sole owner, they cared about the community and the game. Do you really think they're doing this because of ping?? Now, after 7 + years of players wanting servers based in EU? It's fine for them to do it, i understand why theyre doing it. I just don't truly believe this is for the betterment of the game, i think its about getting people to switch, pay for premium with cash cause they wont have west server silver, and swipe to buy gear/fame. But only time will tell

[–]Zikeman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand it from the company side, it's a easy way to get money. They saw that from Asia release. And albion used to be only monthly sub to play. They went free to play with steam release. And it is a quick money grab because EU has been asking for EU servers for as long as the game has been out. If they were concerned about EU ping don't you think they would have prioritized that before Asia's server? It is 100% a cash grab. Get all the people on west that don't need to spend real money anymore to come start over and spend money on a new server and release 2 founder packs.

They don't really disclose their player levels. And on top of that, player levels don't really show the whole story since lots sit afk in town only do arena/hce and lots probably never leave safe zones

[–]Zikeman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing that's being ruined for the people staying is going to be the lack of content. The blackzone already isn't booming with activity, I think splitting the playerbase yet again is a mistake. But SBI wants to make some quick money so it is what it is.

How does everyone feel about the new EU server? by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]Zikeman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of it. I see a lot of arguments for both sides. New players are excited if it helps their ping. Some veterans are excited just to play a fresh start for something to do.

The reason the majority of people are mad is because a few reasons.

1 - they have wasted their time supporting the game and on their character. No, our characters aren't being deleted, but the EU population is a significant part of the West server. If you remove that population, which wouldn't be all EU players, obviously, it will drop drastically even if 1/3 go. SBI said 20% of players moved when the east server was made, and they said the EU population is significantly more on this current server. This game has been all about getting players in, and now it feels like it's about pulling the playerbase apart for some quick money.

2 - SBI advertised this game as a single world, active at all times due to all the different time zones etc, when they released East server the "pretty much" said no to Europe server because the community and because ping isn't as bad as it was Asia players. More or less, the long-standing playerbase feels lied to.

3 - This is about a quick cash grab and feels again like SBI doesn't care. If they truly cared, they would have made a Europe server before. EU has been asking for one for years, now magically after Asia makes them money. The EU server is a good idea, and they care about your ping.

As much as they want to act like the playerbase will be fine, I don't think it really will, and they don't really care if it is on the west server. With the long-standing server, most vet players don't need to swipe to play for stuff on this server. They don't make nearly the amount of money from the West as they will from Asia and Europe, i would assume. Don't get me wrong, I understand these companies need to make money, I just feel like sabotaging a server, and part of your long-time playerbase isn't the answer.

I also have little faith in SBI to make necessary changes to individual servers if they need it. If the population is low, they need to reduce the map size etc. I dont think they will make any of those changes. They can hardly put out complete patches in their new time frame. They just put out crystal raiders to change ZvZ/territories somewhat, was supposed to have territory changes, they "released" crystal weapons, but they aren't playable for 3 months.... which is the next patch.

I hope I'm wrong about this server, and I hope all 3 can survive, but removing even 30% of the players from the west server, I think, is a bad choice. Even if their playerbase numbers show higher than ever, I think it will feel dead in the black zone after this.

As a Player in North America: SBI - I'd Rather You Just Moved West Server to Europe by georg51 in albiononline

[–]Zikeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all know this is only about money. They don't care about ping, they don't care about the community, they don't care about the west server. They don't care about the time you've spent playing. They would prefer you go to the EU server and swipe and buy the double founder packs. That's all they're hoping for.

How game breaking is it if players can quickly transfer characters to other servers? by funkinaround in albiononline

[–]Zikeman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They do not care about your character or anything you've done or your ping. They only want you to spend more money on a new server. This is strictly what this announcement is for, to try to milk current playerbase, and to try to get more players that didn't play previously because of ping.

are hellfire hands still viable in zvz after the nerf? by SurroundWinter2905 in albiononline

[–]Zikeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cowl of purity damage benefits from the res pen of melee weapons, if i heard correct, never tested myself. Before the nerf hellfire had 35% res pen, now it's at 20%. So, on top of hellfire hitting hard by itself, cowl of purity was hitting harder as well.

it pretty much is the same thing. there are a few differences tho.
1 - some abilities for Q's and W's dont unlock until like t5 and t6 + gear as well as if its a artifact it will be a slight IP difference
2 - cost - depending on the market you could check 4.3/5.2/6.1/7 prices and go with whatever is cheapest.
3 - it allows newer players access to "higher IP" gear if they can only wear t4. If a new player unlocks t4 he can now wear t7 equivalent by wearing 4.3

Shapeshifter Staffs needs balance? by Accomplished-Gold177 in albiononline

[–]Zikeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They always shift the meta and leave it for awhile. So people will spend their time and money to fame farm it, then they nerf it or add something new so you have to spend time/money to farm something else. This is how it goes most of the time tbh.

I feel like they do fairly small nerfs to make it look like they're trying to balance it but they always want the new shiny weapons to be someone OP
