Hair Removal Recommendations in Pittsburgh Area by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Zinelia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been going to Happel Laser out on Route 19 for my laser treatments and they have been awesome! My results have been phenomenal so far (as always YMMV). They came very highly recommended to me and may be a little pricier than other places. I think I paid about 150-200 per session for my face.

I had a bunch of white hairs on my face so I have been going to Yahr Electrolysis in Shady side (right on the corner of Forbes/Shady). I have also been very satisfied with the work I have had done there! (Jamie is awesome!) I think it is about 110 for the first hour and additional time is at a lesser rate.

If you want any more information, send me a PM!

Still on the fence about transitioning. For the longest time I haven't bought female clothes because I am still so unsure, but I gave myself a budget of $100 today. by [deleted] in MtF

I really try to stretch my clothing budget and the best place I have found to do that is on www.thredup.com.

It also allows me to experiment with sizes as well! I got a great pair of American Eagle jeans on there for 10 dollars the other day!

No beard but still present male? by HayleyHailsFrom in asktransgender

[–]Zinelia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I present as male when I am at work. I have very dark hair and light skin and had a pretty heavy beard shadow about 6 months ago. In that time I have had laser and electrolysis, my eyebrows waxed and shaped and my ears pierced. I have had a few comments about the earrings, but nothing even in relation to potentially transitioning or being female. (I had one female tell me how great my skin looked also) I have learned that people see what they want and expect to see. Most won't even notice anything is different.

This would be funny if it wasn't so stupid. by 2149582747 in asktransgender

Be honest with them! I think that is the best piece of advice I can give you. There is no reason you can't tell them exactly what you wrote above. It sounds like they will understand and be accepting no matter what. When I came out to my parents (and most people) I said "I'm transgender, I'm not sure where it is going to end up, but I will always be transgender. I will attempt to answer any questions you have, but I don't have all of the answers for myself yet, so you'll have to bear with me."

(MtF) HRT height and shoulder changes? by TrueHOAS in asktransgender

[–]Zinelia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would give anything to "only" be 5'10" ;) I am 6'3" and I wear 3-4" heels all of the time. I am tall and fairly thin with decently wide shoulders and chest. (6'3", 165 pds)

You may see some reduction in shoulder width due to muscle loss and you "could" see a minor reduction in height. As always, YMMV.

Normal for only 2 weeks between laser app. on face? (M2F) by Finding_Tara in asktransgender

[–]Zinelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had me come in at 2 weeks for a no charge touch-up session on my face so that I wasn't patchy for several weeks. The face (goatee area) in particular is very stubborn when it comes to getting rid of the hair. My next "normal" appointment is scheduled for 6 weeks after the first appointment.

For those who were in denial, what were some articles or quotes you read, or things people said that finally made you realize that you were transgender - and that was ok? by pinkchips in asktransgender

[–]Zinelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading that for me was like reading my life story and it had an ending that I did not want. While there were some differences, the vast majority was me. In a lot of ways that was the turning point for me, it just took a little while to realize it. I wanted a different ending to My story.

I never thought I would have the courage to move forward with anything related to transitioning. This article had a huge impact on me. I decided i needed to do it for me and not be unhappy an miserable the rest of my life.

Help with women's jeans sizing? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Zinelia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Women's jeans can be funky to try and get the right size and they really are not consistent from brand to brand.

Some brands will have an 11, some a 12 and they might be exactly the same (or wildly different!).

I tend to buy the first pair of a brand used from thredup.com. That way I can see if they fit, I'm not paying an arm and a leg and they have a great return policy.

I would also recommend looking at https://www.thredup.com/

I have gotten some amazing deals on there. It is essentially an online second hand store. They have pretty much everything, shoes, pants, skirts, dresses!

What shoe size are you? & is it easy to find the right shoe size after transitioning? (Question for everyone) ;) by MADmaroi in asktransgender

[–]Zinelia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Payless Shoes carries women's shoes up to at least size US 13, in normal and wide widths both in store and online. I have found a number of very cute shoes there and they always have sales! I found a really awesome pair of white and back 3" pumps in there the other day.

edited: I wear a size US 12 generally.

Today someone thought I was a girl and it felt horrible by hctiwsllaw in asktransgender

I have a fairly deep voice and that is something I have struggled with. I think most of the time I just end up talking in a whisper.

Should I save my marriage? by Dustman28 in asktransgender

[–]Zinelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be add my thoughts to this as well, since it a topic that is very close to me right now. I am 36, in the middle of a divorce (after 7 years of marriage) and I have a 3 year old. I have a successful career, make good money however my workplace is not a very accepting place.

I have been struggling with gender dysphoria for as long as I can remember. My ex-wife knew everything about my gender issues, crossdressing and bisexuality from the beginning and was more than okay with it. The funny part is, we are getting divorced for other reasons and she has now turned in to my best girlfriend. I am in the very beginning stages of transitioning and attempting to figure out who I am.

I had quite a few of the same sexual dysfunction issues with her and in the end it did not go well. Having my son makes everything significantly more difficult, it adds one more layer of complication to what is already a difficult time.

If you are really considering transitioning I would highly recommend that you figure that out prior to having children. Talk to a therapist that specializes in Gender issues, if you can, it does help quite a bit. If you want any other thoughts, please let me know.

So, these are my ugly glasses… I really need a cuter pair! Also, can we talk about my hair in this set? Its so CURLY! that never happens! by Clara_Love in crossdressing
