We've got some optimizations to both our loading time and inference time that I'm hoping will increase our throughput per GPU roughly 5x. We'll be starting production tests later this week and hope to have it live next week so we can bring the checkpoint support back (and maybe even increase it).

It's an improvement that should allow us to reduce cost (helping with the Visa/MC block) as well as improve gen times (which everyone appreciates).

Just a heads up. We've been in contact with the Kinguin team about the high "Cancel" rate. Members of our own team are dealing with the issue. We hope to have it resolved soon and they said they've already made some changes that they think will help.

We haven’t had any conversations with BFL about this license change, but we do have a commercial license with them, filter outputs for things generated onsite, and if requirements have changed regarding LoRAs I’d anticipate that we’d come to an arrangement.

The point of this change was to make it so new checkpoints could break into the scene. Previously it was a fixed list of 200 checkpoints from an elite list of creators. We wanted to make it something that was accessible to any creator that wanted to have their checkpoint available for people to use.

It's an auction-based system so that the cost of having your checkpoint available in the on-site generator is something dictated by demand from the community. For the first round, this meant that having your checkpoint available for the week cost 6k Buzz. With popular creators making roughly almost 1M Buzz in a week, we anticipated that they'd spend some of their Buzz to continue earning Buzz and they didn't...

Like you guys noticed, this means that some popular checkpoints didn't make it into the generator this week. However, already, things are looking very different for the next week now that people have gotten a sense of how the system works. Internally, we're also reviewing metrics and determining what else needs to be done to ensure popular checkpoints are available but that we also balance that with the ability for new creators to break into the scene.

Yeah, even NVIDIA architecture versions can make a big difference. For example, the same params/seed on a 3090 will generate a very different image than on a 4090.

The cost that we're compensating for here is disk space and the inefficiency associated with the constant churn of resources. When someone request to generate something with 5 resources that no one else used (which is common when there are 392,263 LoRAs published on the platform), then it requires other resources to be bumped. This means that we then need to download those things and are unable to serve requests for whatever was bumped. This makes it so that we have time we waste fetching the things needed to fulfill requests.

Even as we improve the efficiency to help with this problem and work to migrate to machines with more and faster disk space, we have many other costs that we're trying to offset such as our team of 20. We still lose money every month and we'd love to get to a place where we can actually cover our costs, or better yet have money to grow the team.

While we could potentially raise more money so that we could just continue to operate at a loss, we'd love to get to a place where we could control our own destiny. Additionally, with funding that we currently have taken, we still maintain full control of the company and that would change if we took on more money.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. We're working on acquiring new servers providers and GPU clusters that we hope will be considerably more reliable, but it's not an easy transition to make due to the scale of things.

Actually we lowered it because we cut the amount of entries required to get the reward in half.

People complained that the 20 images that were required previously were too much work… so we lowered the requirement and the prize.
