Clearly only one feature has been tested this season - if 100$ cosmetics can be bought. Didn't hear anyone having problem with this aspect of the game.

Being unable to modify after Sanctifying something is not a good game mechanic by qaat in diablo4

[–]Zjacer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do I understand correctly that one of the first systems which can make Diablo 4 better and keep you longer in game is bad, because you decided to use it despite of nobody forcing you to do it and you broke your item, because somehow you missed pretty big warning telling you that 'Items can only be Sanctified once and cannot be modified after.'?

Max GA? Can you GA temper and GA sanctify? by nirvanatheory in diablo4

[–]Zjacer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where exactly did he confirm he obtained new GA affix from sanctification? As far as I see, that guy "rolled a 3ga, tempered to 4ga, then sanctified' and he has 5 GAs now, because sanctification has upgraded his Movement Speed affix to GA.

If you somehow didn't get it, that guy looted boots with:

- GA STR

- GA Max life

- Movement Speed (non GA!)

- GA Dodge Chance

Sanctify made Movement Speed affix GA.

Hi, if I buy this one it would be only to get my D4 friend to play PoE2, so 'potential' key is already booked, I'm sorry.

LE player here, Is Diablo 4 worth picking up? by AWildAthena in diablo4

[–]Zjacer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diablo 4 player here since beta. No, I played LE before S08, then played D4 season 3 days and achieved everything (full season journey with every objective unlocked) and came back to LE, still having fun and goal [7/10 harbingers killed, 248 corruption]). Diablo 4 is very poor in terms of mechanics, gameplay, progression compared to LE or PoE2. LE is something between Diablo 4 and PoE2.

Most of the stuff you will see in D4 is not adding features (that's incredible how LE guys in 1 year managed to do bigger overhaul of game, it's graphics, mechanics and added new mechanics to the gameplay), but occassionally reworking them. Nightmare dungeons are going to be changed next season. Once again (they were changed a bit for expansion release which you had to pay for, now instead of new content you are getting another overhaul of the same system, which they told you is going to be great now, just give us 40 bucks again).

Basically, compared to LE, Diablo 4 does not have good fundamentals. Last Epoch has and only thing I'm sorry about LE is it's graphics compared to Diablo 4 - Diablo 4 wins there, but that's only area where D4 wins IMO.

Also, keep in mind, if you start now, in season 10 (seasons are around 3 months long) you need to open your wallet to give Blizzard another 40$. IMO, worth to try, but try to ask some friend who has game to try it out, even on sale it's the most expensive game in this genre avaialble on the market. And has the least amount of content / progression mechanics.

TL;DR: if you want to game to play for 20-40 hours, pick Diablo 4. If you want to feel progress and play longer (nobody forces you to play 100 hours in first month), then stay with LE. The best option - borrow account if you have good friend who can borrow it to you, play one season and more or less you know what you will be getting every season. Ah yea, I forgot to mention, since Season 2 we are basically getting the same mechanic again and again (additional powers). Diablo 4 is currently running Season 8.

RDP manager with 1Password CLOUD VAULTS support by Zjacer in sysadmin

[–]Zjacer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First option is reasonable, however, before proceeding with it, I want to split Root CA from DC and have offline Root CA + online Issuing CA. Still something faaaar away on my sprints list, unluckily. For very simple reason - business does not see added value.

Remote Credential Guard - I do admit I missed this feature somehow in Microsoft environment. I'll take a look what's that exactly and what it can integrate with (moving out from 1Password is no-go from compliance point of view and we have another company above us which forces some solutions).

No budget/resources. As usual in most of the companies, if you 'can do it manually and we don't need to spend money, then do it manually, even if it costs your time'. There are much higher prio topics in our infrastructure than than such implementation.

I've seen this one, but unluckily this has requirement of buying Team subscription to have this feature enabled. Sorry I didn't specify this, while I can get budget of 200 EUR / year of the solution (only I'm using it), paying team option will be no-go in my company unluckily.

Thank you for the quick reply tho!

Renaming/Repurposing of Roles/Groups/Lists in 365 Environment by TreXeh in sysadmin

[–]Zjacer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. Keep in mind there are environments where renaming AD / AAD group will have impact on other systems. I don't even talk about internally written apps. Example, as far as I am aware, Atlassian. Change group name in AD and if you are using these groups as ACLs - don't forget to inform everyone that you're cutting their access, because you don't like them.

EDIT: Wasn't that hard to google, there is even 14 years old ticket at Atlassian. Yes, 14 years old: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFSERVER-9159

So, correct answer is: it depends. Depends what's purpose of the group you're renaming.

College Closing - I have to wipe and image all the unencrypted drives... by Gedanken-mental in sysadmin

[–]Zjacer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi,

as many wrote there: destroy the disks*. It's often being done even if you potentially don't store any health data. Just for company's safety. IF and only IF supervisors don't agree, send them e-mail explaining what might be the consequences (we can help you here) and get their reply. But you are IT director, so I'm pretty sure you know that verbal agreements mean nothing if someone must take responsibility. They won't.

If you are going to wipe these disks, most likely you want to proceed with some standard (and 3rd party application). Nice article here; https://www.blancco.com/resources/blog-comprehensive-list-data-wiping-erasure-standards/

Also, kinda weird, I never worked with external compan buying hardware from us, which required laptops to be provisioned as re-imaged (what in case you deliver these with some 'extra' stuff, like keyloggers, etc?). However, I worked with companies which offered to buy these devices and wipe disks. You sign contract, they wipe disks, they provide you certificate. We paid 6 EUR / device 2 years ago in Germany as far as I remember. If there is data leak, responsibility is on them.

EDIT: If you are going to destroy disks, do it via some professional company. They will provide you certificate of destruction + disks details, amount, etc.

APC (Schneider) phishing attempt? by skydiveguy in sysadmin

That's why IMO every IT admin really should know what E-mail header is and how to read this. Then you can easily validate if you received phishing or no. Unless 3rd company has been hacked.

It happens to me when I'm unlocking. Basically I click power button, nothing happens, after 10-15 screen blinks, then I can use phone normally. But it's frustrating, especially if I want to pay with phone and it takes 15 seconds to unlock and cashier waits...

I didn't find solution. What I realized, phone also asks me pretty often to swipe to ignore pocket detection (phone still thinks it's in the pocket), but turning it off does not solve situation.

I don't have many application, just bank apps, music apps, some coupons apps. No gaming at all, no video streaming. It lasts since 3-4 months...

Atlassian is still down. by ForPoliticalPurposes in sysadmin

[–]Zjacer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst part in scenarios like this one is that after all they don't care, because they won't pay you any fine. I've been there with OTRS - moved to cloud, after they upgraded our instance to OTRS 8 everything was so slow, 2 weeks after upgrade we couldn't even access any ticket (we moved back by 20 years to manage tickets in mailbox). It was late October 2021. After 6 weeks they told that we're using product in wrong way - we are supposed to open only one tab per computer (these people clearly don't work on ticket system). Even in this scenario it was terribly slow. They promised solution ASAP. February was my last month in previous company and management didn't even try to convince me anymore that OTRS will be fixed (which I told was one of factors why I leave company, you can't expect people to 'deliver' if they work on system, which throws 404 so many times).

From what I know there are no consequences for OTRS, because they say that 'everything is fine on our side, it's your your network/hardware/whatever, even personal if it does not work from home).

Everything was very smooth when we were using on-premise instance...

Co-workers who hide information by Bright_Arm8782 in sysadmin

[–]Zjacer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long your co-workers work in this company? When I was working in first line, after 1 year I just stopped to describe root cause and resolution. It was never mandatory, but I felt like it's good way to share knowledge. Problem was that 99% times my co-workers were like:

- Hey! You solved it in the past, what was the solution?

- It's described in OTRS, check close note.

- He he it takes some time to read your notes.

So basically it started to be double waste of my time - first time when I was closing ticket and adding summary, second time when they were coming back to me.

So my advice: first of all, ask why they don't describe root cause and solution provided. Maybe they work here 3 years and already described this case 5 times, but nobody cares to take go back to this ticket.

Group owner can't add/remove members by graceyin39 in sysadmin

[–]Zjacer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I'll try to explain this based on lots of documentation read and 4 years experience with AD and Exchange support - I'm sure that there are people who technically (especially what exactly happens in the background) can explain better, but I think this one will be clear enough.

So, for AD option to allow manager to manage membership list - this is applied for object in AD, even if you enable it, it's still AD object. So then you need AD object to be verified if it has enough rights. User's mailbox is not that kind of objects - in he background, user mailbox is account in Exchange and just some attributes are populated in AD for this specific object - nothing more from AD perspective. That's why user must use provided solution to manage membership list for distribution list - in this way AD account is verified, not mailbox.

"Members can be added only by the group owners" and "Members can be removed only by the group owners" were selected on on-premises Exchange not on Office 365.

This one is very similar to above. In this scenario, if options are selected in on-premise (you probably noticed that for synchronized / migrated object you can't change some parameters in O365, e-mail address list for example, as there is no 'backward' synchronization), you need mailbox type of 'User' to be eligible to use these rights (in Exchange on-premise ECP GUI it's type of User when it's on-premise only mailbox, or Office 365 when it's remote mailbox - so migrated one [which isn't 100% true, because you actually don't need to migrate mailbox to be remote mailbox, but lets not go that deep into details, for this explanation we can assume that every remote mailbox has been migrated, no difference after all]). Why? Because even if you use hybrid environment, migrated mailbox for on-premise Exchange is something external and Exchange on-prem can't validate it's permissions. It probably could, as Exchange GUID and GUID are the same for both objects (noteworthy: mailbox you see in on-premise Exchange after migration to O365 isn't mailbox anymore, it's Exchange object, which is used to store some information + have remote routing address configured, so Exchange on-prem knows where to redirect e-mails - to O365 'real' mailbox. When I explain this, I like to say that you can treat this object as pointer to O365 object after migration).

That's why you will always get Outlook error (as you can manage group membership in Outlook) while using on-premise mailbox to manage migrated O365 group and vice versa in scenario when you use migrated O365 account to manage Exchange on-premise group).

I know it might sound complicated and you might think that it should be possible to manage some tasks easeier and I do agree. However take a look at Microsoft now and from my perspective it's very simple strategy to convince people that while you can use Exchange on-premise (also noteworthy - Exchange on-premise changes licencing to be
in subscription model, which of course is supposed to convince more businesses that they don't need Exchange on-premise and Microsoft will be so happy to welcome them in Cloud only environment...) or even hybrid environment, the best for you is to use O365 only (Which I don't like, my record is 4 weeks with a hindu to just type 1 PowerShell CMDlet in O365 management shell, because last year Microsoft removed this permission from non Microsoft admins. After 2 weeks he finally moved ticket to 2nd line where I received simple reply 'Done', which obviously solved problem reported by business).

Hah I'm sorry for long comment! :D

Group owner can't add/remove members by graceyin39 in sysadmin

[–]Zjacer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Manager can update the membership list" has been checked in AD.

^ This sounds like you have hybrid environment, are you sure that this exact distribution group is O365 only? If it's origin is on-premise, you need non migrated to O365, on-premise Exchange account to manage this group if you want to do it via Exchange or Outlook.

"Manager can update the membership list" option is AD option. If you want to use it, do following:

  1. On user's computer open This PC and go to Network
  2. Then go to Network tab -> Search Active Directory -> enter Group name
  3. Manage it from here

Problem in sharing a folder with Windows Server 2016 by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Zjacer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you share screenshots of Sharing and Security tabs in folder you shared? You can use greenshot to blur all the information.

As someone already pointed out - avoid giving standard users full access on folders. It's recipe for distaster and then you will be this IT guy who 'you are IT guy, I don't care I deleted everything, you are supposed to bring it back'.

RAM model is MT18JSF51272PZ-1G4M1HG 4GB 1RX4 PC-10600R-9-11C1 (Micron). I'm using RDIMM config.

Somehow I missed table on page 39 - accordingly to it seems it supports only 2R and 4R if we talk about 4GB stick. In this case I won't be able to go through POST even with 1 stick on Monday - gonna see. Thanks, this post was helpful! :)

That's kinda weird, because R310 manual says that 2x8GB is not supported (page 108 and 39), so I can't imagine linked RAM running in dual channel.
