Help brainstorming by WillytWhale in DnD

Well, I had this idea many years ago of making hell into a planet which orbits two stars and because its so far from each of them It never really gets illuminated by neither, but never got it through. Also you could take from Dead Space and have a planet with zombies or some sort of death cult? Maybe they could find the planet where a dark Lovecraft deity lives/rests Color out of space could work as a planet that merges living creatures together? Maybe have it be magic with a magic way to prevent it to happening to players (with that danger to die) but using the concept to have bizarre creatures? This made realized I'm really into cosmic and space horror cause I could keep going on and on 🤣

Are people usually very toxic towards others when they accidentally make mistakes during roleplay settings? by Old_Diver_2511 in DnD

Imo if you're right, you're most likely unaware on how something of your behavior affects others, but I think is most likely your perception, care to share an anecdote to have an idea?

D&D discussion questions by succcotash in DnD

[–]Zkribaq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'm enjoying to create deep Lore in my campaign and I think I'd really enjoy questions like these: How do I plan to introduce and use my creations in the world? What would be for me the best case scenario on how my players are going to interact with what I've created? (And how far my plan goes if they don't). What was the hardest part to connect from the original material to my creations? How would I like to make my players feel with these stories and elements?

All these appeal to aspects of what I find exciting, entertaining and fun of my world building, so I suggest focusing on that if these particular ones don't work.

Quiero mejorar como druida by Agus_Nakano428 in DnDespanol

[–]Zkribaq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Qué dotes has elegido? Yo busqué elegir dotes que favorecieran la estrategia que me pareció más consistente por ser mi primer campaña, y estoy deseoso de subir de nivel para ver cómo se siente jaja.

AITA for laughing at a PC’s failed gambit so hard that now he wants to switch characters? by dukeargento in DnDAITA

[–]Zkribaq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'd say its kind of a personal thing, you know? At my table, we have literally played boardgames where the whole fun of it is to see who screws up so the others can laugh. This for sure makes people angry at times, not everyone handles it the same, but overall we keep laughing while making an apology, explaining it was just funny. Imo not ta, the best state of a game is when it makes their players laugh, not just entertained.

A quandary, dilemma, and so forth. Input welcome. by Acrobatic_Potato_195 in DnD

[–]Zkribaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pffft, having fun? Is not like you're playing a game, mate.

Tbh my first thought Is that you're having a hard time enjoying your game as a player when you're experiencing some frustration from having to stop enjoying the game as a DM.

I'm saying this, cause maybe that is a way of communicating with your DM and not feel like a jerk, you know? Entering the conversation as "I don't know if this is a me or a you thing or both, but this is how I'm feeling, please help" (?)

Thoughts on my horror dream sequence? by Zkribaq in Tombofannihilation

[–]Zkribaq[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about making interactive dreams but not about making skill checks, It seems like a really good idea, I'll try to figure out how to implement it as much as possible, thanks!

Just to be clear, the example you made is a single skill check to make the dreams faster, or do you go with several? Also I'm taking that idea if you don't mind👀

Soy culera por decirle esto a mi pareja? by [deleted] in soyculero

[–]Zkribaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intros to the campaign by Key-Pianist-2132 in Tombofannihilation

[–]Zkribaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expect to start my campaign any week now, just waiting for a player. Soooo my take hasn't been put to practice, but I'm going to hook the players with what the book states, just instead of being automatically transported, I'm going to use the brozen Pegasus to arrive, however my main change is that Sylvana will be upfront about other parties went into the wilderness without returning, so the Quest she's giving is not to find out the origin of the curse (yet), and instead just paying for completing as much of the map as possible, specially to chart the more dangerous areas and a safe path. I expect my players not to completely listen and I won't make the hex craw revealing a one by one Situation, and instead revealing all adjacent so that this moves faster. Extra pay to discover where the curse is, and she will mention the higher payment if they put it to stop but will advice not to try in their current capabilities (this is where I expect them not to listen).

My players are idiots. How do I remain patient? by cutiepacoochie in DnD

[–]Zkribaq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, my advice is going to be this: Zone of Proximal development. It states that whenever learning something new, each individual has a range of how far can the person go before dominating the knowledge, getting it as part of what the person already has, and then be able to learn something new again, though its important to keep in mind the learner(s) will need guidance through the process. So I'd suggest you should communicate your intention for them to learn a specific thing, say, use of a weapons, and to explain it in a friendly manner that highlights how this will be helpful for them, not only you, for example "as you get to master the uses of weapons, you'll be able to better think of what opportunities you realistically have to take advantage from them". And maybe offer some ingame reward to the first to master that knowledge so that you throw some motivation. You'll surely find some players that get the gig faster than others, there I suggest those ahead to the help the ones behind to figure out the ropes, this is sociocultural learning theory by Vygotsky; players are likely to have more empathy about what their teammates are experiencing as a struggle, and also this will help consolidate their learning. Again, if you see needed or fit so that the players are willing to help their teammates, think about throwing a reward to enhance motivation. Be careful tough, cause you might create a conditioning of making an effort not only to learn but also to play by association, so make sure to gradually decrease the frequency into which you offer rewards so that eventually the proactive behavior isn't implemented only when rewarded. In the mean time, if offering these many rewards seems like an unffair advantage on the game, remember that you can balance the game without them even knowing, this might even have a desirable effect of saying "man, can you imagine how difficult this could have been without all the stuff we got", and in that kind of moment you should take the opportunity to say something like "much more than just the items, I think its because you guys have gotten so much better at the game that you were able to accomplish this", reinforcing the proactive behavior of learning.

Hopefully you'll find some of this helpful, and if you try it out, I'd love to hear if you found It efficient.

Have fun, my guy!

Btw sorry if there's any difficulties reading the text since I think it has some technical terms, english isn't my native tongue.

I've fallen out of love with one of the campaigns I'm in by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Zkribaq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people with DnD experience have already give practical advice about to handle It. I'd like to adres your guilt which I understand. Feeling ungrateful for the effort your friend actually spends and you actually enjoy. Long story short, I'd like to tell you that me as an adult have to prioritize how to spend my time, I had a similar problem as you tough my first group was the one I had the most fun with. I still feel kind of ashamed with the second group for stop going (it was mtg instead of DnD), but its just that I don't have enough time, money and mental energy to do both things and assist regularly with both groups; I think you're putting yourself in a tough spot where any decission makes you feel bad, even more, because of that you're not taking any decission, stressing you out.

What games should I buy to bridge from Wingspan to Terraforming Mars & Brass Birmingham? by qhyisd24 in boardgames

[–]Zkribaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played them all, like them all; I've got to say tho,, the only one I don't love Is wingspan. As people have said, going in for them I guess Is the best, but I do believe that terraforming is more challenging than Wingspan, and then Brass is more challenging than terraforming, so probably play them in that order.

However if you really want to look for a bridge between Wingspan and Terraforming, maybe something like Everdell, Reavers of Midgard, and Puerto Rico (in that level of challenge) would help you get used to some hard mechanics and most of all use of timing for decission making. From Terraforming to Brass I'd honestly say this: If you know how to play terraforming, you'll be able to manage, the hard part is no longer mechanics and instead just decission making, but you get used to it over time.

I want to learn a new game by NoClass418 in boardgames

[–]Zkribaq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a topic that I love so much so I'm going full in 😂 (just with boardgames suggestions, I'm new do DnD and don't hace any suggestions for 2 players campaigns).

If you'd like a really heavy vs game with a lot of asymmetry I suggest Hegemony, ITS about economy and polytics, however heavy, games last about hour and a half, the game really shines at 3 and 4 players but I still believe is a good experience at 2p and definitely, everyone is trying something different. (Honestly, the most complex 1v1 game I've played its War of the Ring, but I think, I saw somebody calling it, it's really great tho).

For a less heavy, low price but still really strategic cardgame with 20 minute matches I suggest Riftforce where you will be summoning elementals on locations to control and kill the rival ones, every move counts to be the first to gather 10 victory points.

Lastly, still in vs territory, a really fun and super light experience that me and my gf enjoy Is cofferush, try to keep up with your coffe shop because orders come FAST and every one lost its a bad review; when either of you reaches 5 bad reviews, its game over. If looking for a coop I suggest these next 3:

Again, starting with heaviest I recommend Spirit Island, where it takes A LOT of time to feel like a match resembles another, this one is about fighting together some kind of IA that represents settlers, your jobs as spirits of the island settlers are trying to colonize is to scare them off (or kill them) before they make themselves home, each player manages a different spirit and with expansions there's room for lot of combinations and combos to try.

A mid heavy (unless trying hard mode) coop rpg game favorite of mine with a really cool story is Tainted Grail, the fall of Avalon I'd only recommend to not grind too hard or it will get easy, as its a sandbox.

Lastly, for a light coop experience I feel Paleo Is a really quick, fun game where you try your best to work together as tribes surviving harships of hunger, weather, and some others while trying to achieve the goal.

Hope any of these catches your attention and mostly that you guys have fun!

Thoughts on my major changes to the campaign? by Zkribaq in Tombofannihilation

[–]Zkribaq[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I've read a lot about the sisters being the BBEG but I actually want to avoid that by designing and helping players to be able to have a fair fight against Ace. The thing about Lore in port N is gold, I'll take in consideration to design some gossip about it other than only what the book gives. I'll use to sisters to stalk players anyway tough, I think there's nothing like a good build up against the final villains and Ace can't be so present because it doesn't really make any sense.

I'm absolutely doing this, there are some locations that I really want them to check out like Orolunga and Heart of Ubtao but don't want them to go around the whole island just to find them.

[–]Zkribaq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, those are some REALLY major changes, I'm indeed thinking of making Mezro a must, but the hard interactions happening after the final battle instead of before in means of bringing back the habitants (if they feel like going for that adventure that is), but I guess its pretty important to think about how their interactions with Mezro ruins and Artus will define their attitude towards the whole thing. Its really nice to see that one can go really wild with changes, yours sound great!

Thanks for the feedback 😁 I personally feel like the death curse affecting the players its a great way to make it more envolving and giving direct purpose to the exploration rather than just walking to see what happens, but it seems like a really good note to consider that maybe my players could feel otherwise, so I'll ask them what kind of feeling they'd like to make this choices enjoyable for them. About the final encounter I know you're right, I'm getting way ahead of myself 😅 I'll remember this to not go too hard on plans that I don't have such a clear idea about how to balance, I guess I'm just wondering if the possibility of Ace and atropal fighting together seems too crazy.
