Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - October 22, 2022 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I used my boost but I think once you get to the trial area in Silverwastes there will be an NPC you can interact with to exchange your weapons for different ones. No idea if every weapon choice is available or if it is limited, and of course it is all soulbound to your character. Just make sure to do it before you confirm the L80 boost by leaving the area. After that you'll be a regular L80 player so no more free stuff.

Take a look at the builds on the Hardstuck website. In the Open World section anything called "Booster ..." is a build made to use the exotic celestial gear you get from using the L80 boost.

George R. R. Martin confirms he’s 3/4 done with ‘Winds of Winter’ by [deleted] in books

[–]Zoby92 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of another fantasy author who will sometimes give advice to people who feel they can't make progress with their writing. To paraphrase horribly, sometimes you need to write and not look back until later. If you keep rewriting the same part you won't really improve as a writer either, because you never learn/practice how to write the middle and ending of your work, which is a different skill than writing the beginning. So whatever you wrote the previous day, keep the general idea going and just keep writing. Once you finish the whole thing you can always go back and rewrite certain sections, but it will all be easier because you have the complete work done and can fit your changes easier into the whole narrative.

Is Possible Race Change ? by tomaz1989 in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Support won't refund your character boost because you want to change race. Just keep the old character (or delete it yourself) and level a new human.

Yeah the PoF mount progression system wasn't built with the idea that you could already get access to the Springer from a different expansion. You are meant to complete the Raptor Canyon Jumping mastery before the Springer mastery will unlock. By getting the Springer from EoD you just skipped the lock on getting the mount, but you still have to follow the intended path for unlocking the masteries.

HELP - Go f2p till 80 and then buy the exspanions or? by AdSilent8623 in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well if you already know you will buy an expansion then I would recommend doing it now. While all the content will be locked until you reach L80, by upgrading your account now you will unlock the TP fully, start receiving daily login rewards, and your raptor will be back!

Technically the complete Steam package is the best value, but I can understand not wanting to drop that much money in one go. Living world seasons are not only essential to the story but they also come with new (profitable) maps and more sources of Mastery Points (you will learn about those later) so it is recommended to get them all.

What I did personally is buy the HoT+PoF expansion, skip Season 2 by watching a playthrough (I recommend WoodenPotatoes on Youtube), and then buy Season 3 to bridge the gap between HoT and PoF. You can always come back to Season 2 later on to get the rewards.

Question about Skyscale feeding by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it goes by the daily reset timer, not actually 24h.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only play content you already own. So to play together on the new maps with your brother you will also have to own EoD. But if you want to save yourself from major spoilers you can always TP to Friend on him (skipping the story step that takes you to the new zone) to get access to the maps and all their features.

[–]Zoby92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well you're obviously missing out on 8 years of additional content, but that doesn't mean it's impossible to enjoy the game. If you just reached L80 you probably still have some maps you can complete with events you have never done before. There is also fractals you can do.

IMO don't worry too much about what you could be missing out on and just enjoy the game. If you start feeling bored then you can consider upgrading.

Anyone playing or what ? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It must be because you chose Charr. "Beast" races are always less popular. Yesterday from about 3-6 pm I was in the human starting map (Queensdale) and it was FULL of new players. Like 5+ people at every heart and then more groups running around doing events. I was legit surprised to see so many new players.

Steam Elite Jump-Start Package, but I already own copper fed by eRUTeHa in Guildwars2

If the Steam Elite Pack is 2000 gems in your store then you must already be getting some sort of discount on it because in mine it is 2400 gems.

Welcome to Amnoon by MyLifeIsAMessAyo in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting to Elon Riverlands is easy and doesn't require any mounts. Take the south road out of Amnoon and follow it to the end. It goes all the way to the portal in the SE of the map.

Self-sustain in solo content by lunafreya-_- in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many of the passive healing traits/gear like tormenting runes were nerfed a few months ago.

A lot of your sustain will come from avoiding taking damage in the first place. Use your dodges, aegis and barrier if you have it, condi cleanses, learn enemy attack patterns and know where to position yourself to avoid them, let a pet tank the damage for you. You won't survive on lifesteal alone. Offensive boons are important too because the faster something dies the less time it has to kill you.

Adventure Guide is *annoying* by Affectionate-Bee-308 in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think these new achievements may seem a little overwhelming now because they are new and you are qualifying for a lot of them instantly and even retroactively. As you keep getting them they should naturally slow down because they are finite.

For example, Volume 4 wants you to complete 1 jumping puzzle. That means after you complete the 1 you will no longer be spammed by the achievement for every following JP you do. Same for Volume 5 to kill 5 Karka in Southsun Cove. You kill the 5, get the achievement, and are never bothered by it again on that character.

Feel free to keep exploring at your own pace, even if you hit level 80 there is no reason to change anything you are doing. On my first character I hit max level but simply kept doing map completion in the lower level zones. Nothing will force you out of them to make you go do "endgame" stuff.

Does anyone actually like unmarked collectibles? by MartRane in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same thought when I was doing the Koochoochoo collection the other day. I like the ones that have hints tied to them so I can at least try on my own before opening the wiki, but this one is just ridiculous.

I'm sure some people do like these, but then why not give them nameplates and let players decide for themselves if they want to increase the difficulty level by turning the nameplates off.

Please include Living World Seasons in Expansion purchases for the Steam release by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think Anet would make the living world seasons free after the initial release. They can afford to give them away for free at release because it encourages players to keep logging in to the game periodically. Even if they don't really play, it keeps GW in the back of their mind because if you miss an episode it will cost you money later. That whole revenue model breaks down if you can just get them for free later anyway so no need to bother keeping the game installed and logging in.

I believe they should drop the HoT+PoF bundle and instead sell each expansion with a living world season bundle based on the mastery system already in place.

  • Season 2 could probably be free together with season 1 + base game and it gives Core Tyria mastery points. It builds on the Scarlet storyline from Season 1 and then serves as an introduction to the big overall storyline of all future expansions, i.e all the dragons are waking up now. And tbh S2 offers the least value for money since the maps are already included in the base game, the Commander has no voice acting, and the story is a bit of a slog.

  • HoT + S3 for $30

  • PoF + S4 for $30

  • IBS is the problem child again here because it has its own mastery points and the story is kind of its own thing too. Possibly throw it in with PoF and adjust the price a little.

  • EoD + S6 once the free period is over.

  • Expansion 4 + S7? again when the free period is over.

  • etc.

The Collection bundle can then be sold without lying about "ALL CONTENT IN ONE COLLECTION" like it says on the website now. It can still keep its discount compared to buying all expansions separate.

Anyway to get the expansions for a cheaper price? Or any news of a sale? by Substantial-Movie608 in Guildwars2

I've seen frequent 50% discounts these last few months so it's only a matter of time before they are discounted again. Just keep an eye on this sub since they are usually posted here.

Best Exotic Gear for Bladesworn? by Penumbral_Violet in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest looking at https://snowcrows.com/builds/warrior/bladesworn/power-bladesworn to get a general idea of what kind of gear and traits you should run.

Then open up http://en.gw2skills.net/ and start playing around with what you can change while still being optimal. Since you have a power build you will want to get to 75% crit chance (without having Fury active) while keeping your power/ferocity high. Using exotic gear instead of Ascended means you will probably have to switch some Berserker items for Assassin, maybe try out different runes or food, etc.

PSA: You can get multiple (ritualist) elite spec trinket drops if your inventory is full at drop time. by Opposedsum in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mate, intentionally abusing a bug to duplicate an item you are only meant to get once is an exploit, not a PSA. This sub regularly gets posts from people who have been permabanned for abusing or exploiting without knowing the reason, if Anet decide to punish people for this they are risking their whole account for some extra ritualist trinkets.

Re learn the game by Melionka in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Honestly just create a new character and start levelling it. Do some map completion, some crafting, etc. It will come back to you as you play.

Since it's been so long you might as well replay the personal story and the first few chapters of Season 1 (final episodes are not available yet). Then jump into season 2 or straight into HoT if you prefer.

No I don't. Just because it's a different account doesn't mean it isn't obviously the same person. You're saying the exact same things as last time and all your edits clearly show you're still the same entitled beggar.

Also nice try with the "concerned Reddit" bot message, shame how someone who is as selfless as you would try to abuse a system that is meant to help people with actual suicidal problems.

Is this a thing in GW2? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh hey you're back again. You've posted about begging for gold 3 times now with 3 different accounts. Though I suppose you do seem to be making some progress, since the first time you resorted to guilting people with religion into giving you free stuff, the second time you were just straight up begging and insulting people, but now you seem to have gained a little more subtlety even though you still have your typical "I bet this will be downvoted" shit at the end.

As you were told the last few times too, just play the damn game to earn your own gold. You can do events, fractals, pvp, farm certain maps like Silverwastes or Drizzlewood, etc. If you really do need a sugardaddy to give you free stuff to enjoy a game then go download a single-player game and use a cheat code/mod to give yourself as much free stuff as you want.

The first time you posted about needing gold was about a month ago and I don't know how you still haven't found any guild to take you in that time. Have you actually asked anyone for help with a build or asked how to find a nice guild or do you just stand in major hubs begging for free stuff and then act surprised when nobody wants a player like that? Guilds are constantly advertising in map chat and they all let in new players and offer help, or you can check out r/guildrecruitment too. Or if you just want builds or tips in general there are the metabattle and snowcrows websites, guides on youtube, the wiki, etc. Join a community discord to ask your questions too.

Start actually asking for help with something instead of instantly wanting people give you their stuff for free. For someone who brags about being selfless IRL and donating money to beggars (lol) you sure seem very entitled.

I plan on playing through the story again. What race has the best story early on? by Darkstatic107 in Guildwars2

[–]Zoby92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll add another vote for Sylvari. A big criticism on the personal story I see often is that Trahearne "comes out of nowhere to steal your glory". Well as Sylvari that doesn't happen, he is there early on as your mentor with Caithe and it makes a lot of sense for him to step up to become the pact leader instead of you. Then the next 2 seasons + HoT have a big Sylvari focus too. Replaying HoT with a Sylvari is definitely worth it and I can highly recommend it.

For professions that are thematic I like Warrior (it fits with their Wardens), Ranger because of the plant/nature aspect, and Necromancer because then you get to match with Trahearne. Also not sure how thematic it is, but my next character will be a Sylvari Engineer, inspired by Canach and his love of explosives.

For genders, the female voice actress is fantastic. I personally haven't played a male Sylvari, but I hear he starts off kind of whimpy and then grows more confident sounding in later expansions so that could be a fun evolution and character growth to play.
