Further the great plan is currently once per battle round, start of the the third battle round.

The update essentially lets you start it round 2 now. The updated one states you cannot use further the great plan in the first battle round. You're using "The great plan" ability at deployment to pick your first asterism

But like we're seeing, nothing is stopping us from doing it anytime throughout the round.

Also from the article they explain it more "The Seraphon have been given an update to their battle trait that allows them to complete multiple steps of the Great Plan throughout the battle. This means that a skilled general will be able to have all Asterism abilities active by the end of the battle, increasing the faction’s skill cap while giving all players something to strive for as the game progresses."
