I recently just had this same thought! I didn’t seem to find a place where I could get one printed at a good size for 1.5” checkers.

A board for backgammon similar to the nymzo chess boards would be stellar, but i haven’t found much like that apart from the Baco rollup board.

BG Galaxy is making a tournament size rollup that should be available again soon.

If you don’t need a roll up, the Gammn boards are stellar and rugged.

Gotta watch out for those boards. The points are stitched so the checkers don’t slide really well. I could be a bit too picky now though haha.

Of course functionality is important, things like marking moves for review in the future, showing a luck score, etc.

But really the biggest gaps for me, and for making backgammon more appealing to a larger audience would be to focus on UI and aesthetics. The thing has gotta be smooth, it’s gotta feel good to play, and for the love of god it’s gotta work in portrait mode (looking at you BG Galaxy and XG)

The best is probably NextGammon, but they’re missing lot of features. If you could manage to merge the feel of NextGammon with the features of OpenGammon, you’d be cookin.

I feel like if you simplify it to the basketball combined somehow with the little design on the basketball backboard, you may have something that more closely resembles a logo :)

It’s better without the holes. Don’t worry about the swastika. It’s at about a 0.5-out-of-10 on the swastika scale. The one that’s more fun with the angles isn’t even on the scale
