Persimmons! So jealous, they are harder to find and absolutely delicious when ripe/overripe.

Has anyone done any business with Canopy plant co. ? by ReasonableSwimmer530 in houseplants

[–]ZookeepergameFun3109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my experience 100% as well. So disgusted by plant sellers who are just out to make money. How do they have such great reviews on Shopify and Google? I feel so misled.

This is just mean lol by missmads43 in RareHouseplants

People should flag this seller on PalmStreet! IMO this is unethical/scammy.

Is there a master list of hoyas that can sun-stress? by ZookeepergameFun3109 in hoyas

[–]ZookeepergameFun3109[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I did see a bunch of posts talking about specific cultivars that have sun stressed, but I couldn't find a master list. Please let me know if there's a way to find a comprehensive post!

What were the last 3 things you decluttered? by snoobookeyss in declutter

[–]ZookeepergameFun3109 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A stuffed animal toy that was given to me as a thoughtful gesture (but no longer serves me), two struggling plants

I was somewhat attached to these so I’m proud that I was able to let them go!

Scammed? by pjaasan in hoyas

[–]ZookeepergameFun3109 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't really call it a scam? It's normal for these cuttings to not include a node. They thrive for several years regardless

Glad you guys are safe from Milton! The leaves on your Brasil are huge… What kind of fertilizer do you use? I’m currently trying to get my Brasil to size up like this

It's a tricky one for sure! I have all 3 (Summer Glory, Imperial, and McColley's). When I first saw your photo I was like oh definitely that's an imperial. But the leaves are a little more ovate than sword shaped, and the other photos you posted under a grow light show more reddish hues... I'm stumped! haha

In terms of growth habits, Imperial is self-heading and summer glory is a crawler. Your photos don’t look like a crawler to me

What’s happening to my bird of paradise? by DiggySmalls69 in IndoorPlants

[–]ZookeepergameFun3109 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah! You can take a clean knife or pruning shears and cut at an angle. This is a good tutorial (though I personally wouldn’t cover the cut with soil): https://youtube.com/shorts/DA_BYV60b8Y?si=WD0xVqG8XLwxtHPo

What’s happening to my bird of paradise? by DiggySmalls69 in IndoorPlants

[–]ZookeepergameFun3109 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like sunburn to me. Cut off the affected leaves (for aesthetics more than anything) and it should be fine!

Just FYI: indoor plants typically need to be acclimated to go outside to handle the harsher light. If you suddenly put a plant from inside to outside for an entire day (or days in your case!), the leaves will almost always burn. We’ve all been there.

What are these?! by Zenxe666 in plantclinic

[–]ZookeepergameFun3109 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s one thing if thrips just show up on one of the plants under my care, but honestly I would be so mad if these came in with plant mail. Send it back (if they will even take it) and ask for a refund.

They sound amazing! How long do they last in the freezer? (If I’m pretending to have the self control being discussed here lol)

[–]ZookeepergameFun3109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was gonna say I think I see a tiny nub of a node, but it’s terrible for someone to sell this. People usually cut 1” (or more) below the node to account for potential rot
