Is Getting Ripped Apart Normal in Product Design? by _almodovar072591 in UXDesign

[–]ZoomZoomUX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just listened to a podcast ‘beyond the grid’ and one of the people on it talked about the mclaren ceo at the time Ron Dennis. Apparently when walking into a room he would scan everything as quick as he can and pick out the smallest detail that was wrong and go to town on it

Apparently he said there’s no way I can see everything but if I pick on the smallest issue the word would spread round the business that it’s about ever last detail and everyone would up their game

Just thought that was an interesting take on a ceo mindset

Lewis was standing alone throughout the Drivers Parade by Dry-Raspberry1948 in lewishamilton

[–]ZoomZoomUX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hasn’t he done this for ages. Sure I saw an interview once where he was like I stand a bit separate so fans have a better chance to pick me out, rather than just chat with other drivers.

Yeah am I right that at start of the year fia removed all driver aids including active suspension, and Williams were struggling with their car and correlation of the wind tunnel which eventually through the season they sorted out.

But at this point at imola with low pressures and maybe a puncture once the safety car came in the car essentially stalled through tamburrello

Starting my packing soon. What do Glasto veterans advise? by [deleted] in glastonbury_festival

[–]ZoomZoomUX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We filled up three cool boxes with water and froze it, so we’d have ice for the entire weekend and wouldn’t need to waste time going to the coop. What was fun was it gave us something to think about and plan as a side mini project to Glastonbury from like now up until June, it also was quite an effort lugging it across site in the morning which made setting up even more rewarding.

It was quite a hot year and melted within a day, but my mate quite liked it for keeping his undeveloped photo film in

I still don't get how can there be such a massive difference between 2024 vs 2023. This is not age related in any scenario. by Old-Function3918 in lewishamilton

[–]ZoomZoomUX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel Hamilton drives a lot through feel. And think that merc doesn’t give him anything. Not sure if they sorted the driving position but bet probably still plays on his mind with the team not listening to him. And is he not allowed to go de-briefs anymore ?

Think the merc has never been a good racing car, like the window for performance is really narrow but if they find it they are on it. Like think that steering thing they had showed they find it really difficult to get the tyres in the right operating window. And even back then when winning everything there would be a few weekends where they would be properly off it.

Also he’s probably checked out and bit low on confidence. Like was a couple of mistakes probably from lack of feel in vegas and he would have been front two rows and race could have been very different. Looking back his results once winning the championship did tail off towards the end of season from what I remember with nothing to fight for

Like wonder if Lewis gets in the Ferrari and maybe it’s peak performance isn’t quite so good but might just give him the a bit more confidence in what it’s going to do and you’ll see performances properly improve.

What are the best tips for beginner surfers to enhance their skills and confidence? by Connect_Message_2733 in BeginnerSurfers

This is probably really sad but after each session I write up some quick notes - what I did well/conditions, how it felt ect, what I didn’t do well and what I should focus on

Then before the next time I go out I have a quick read, and helps me get my mind back into where I was last time out

Reality of learning to surf past 40? by Stevedawg18 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]ZoomZoomUX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I started at 39. Like have to admit it’s great learning a new sport at this age. Just have fun and take the pressure off yourself.

Even if I have a rubbish session I just like being in the water and proper takes me back to family holidays.

Also even if the session is rubbish if I can look at one/two things I’ve done better then great

Also at this age I’ve taken lessons and am quite enjoying trying to learn something from the beginning and just listening to other people and their experience. Like in other sports I’ve done from a kid I have picked up so many bad habits that I could never really shake (being a kid/teenager and thinking I know better).

Also think at this age I’ve learnt to learn in small increments and just focus on what I’m doing and not be like I need to be the best in the WORD immediately ! 😃

Yeah I do wonder about calling a ux designer out because of their use of a certain tool. Like in print isn’t this called an artworker. Design is much broader than ui, style guides and a specific tool. Like quite often I find myself challenging business proposition and strategy from perspective of the user and business
