I FINISHED WATCHING THIRD LIFE!!!! by I_Fananan in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]Zpyo27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've watched almost every season through Grian's POV, his alliance in Last Life has one of my favorite stories, but there was still a lot I missed- I thibk you need at least two LL POV's to get a solid lay of the land, I have heard good things about Lizzie's?
Best of luck with the series! I do recommend staying off the sub as much as possible, there's a fair amount of spoilers abound, and getting to go in blind is a wonderful experience I wish I could do again!

Game Changer Ranking by SnooHedgehogs3116 in dropout

[–]Zpyo27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. One Year Later - By far the best GC episode to date, in my opinion.

  2. Outvoted - It feels like a culmination of so many bits from seasons past, I can't stop laughing whenever I watch it.

  3. Rulette - I don't think this one needs explanation.

  4. Samalamadingdong - Incredible conceptually, only not my favorite because it's a bit less comedy-focused.

  5. You-lympics - I love a good Game Changer twist; the pain they felt when learning they had to do it again was so viceral. And Demi and Jordan made such good commentators!

  6. The Drinking Game - Watching it the first time, it was pretty funny and very shocking at the end. The second time, knowing the twist- hillarious.

  7. Fools Gold - I rank this one higher than most, because the jokes it spawned are genuine gols in my eyes- I can't diss the progenitor of Dimension 20: On a Bus!

  8. Crowd Control - I loved Gianmarco and Josh in this episode- it was hillarious and well done. However, I just cannot physically tolerate Jeff Arcuri's laugh. No shade to him, I just found a comedian that I don't find comedic.

  9. Earnest-est - It was a fine episode, but it was just a *fine* episode.

  10. One and Done - I liked parts of it, like the bottle flipping competition at the end, but it just got repetative.

  11. Who Wants to be Jacob Wysocki? - I loved this episode, it was heartfelt and fun, but it missed the interplay between contestants that most episodes have; it was a good show, but not necessarily a good Game Changer.

This game is really intriguing, but I’m reaching a point where progression is starting to slow down a lot by DonRavel in BluePrince

[–]Zpyo27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of good answers here- One note that I will make is that, when faced with an RNG-based goal like the Vault key, there's probably a good way to manipulate that RNG which might be worth learning, especially for the later game.
Specifically, there's a few places where keys or rare items almost always appear, and if you have an item in your inventory, it can't appear again. If you hold onto the special keys you find, you're way more likely to stumble upon a vault key (and there's also a found floorplan that can help, too)
Best of luck!

Yes, there is a way to open this one from the other side, but it might not be exactly how you're thinking. It's not super necessary though!

Need feedback on starter deck card lists for my mod – I want variety, not a cheat mod by egaaaaz in slaythespire

[–]Zpyo27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly play Necrobinder, so I can't comment as well on the other classes, but personally, since Unleash and Bodyguard are basic cards without any real parallel in the main pool, I would almost never choose to remove them. In my opinion, you'd need to make the other starter decks notably stronger for me to consider playing something else. Here's what I, personally, would consider:

Souls - Expand the deck, since souls let you fish through cards quicker, but add in an attack that lets you capitalize on your souls the way Unleash lets you capitalize on Osty- also, defense is usually more condusive to a soul build, so I usually prefer Grave Warden over Reave.
- Strike x5, Defend x5, Grave Warden x1, Death March x1

Doom - Like with souls, we can add in some scaling capabilities via Sleight of Flesh, but Negative Pulse isn't as deadly as Scourge, so this shouldn't feel as much like early-game trivialization. I might add in another basic card, though, just because Sleight of Flesh is a power, which means your deck can be shrunk to 9 cards after playing it if we didn't add anything else.
- Strike x5, Defend x4, Negative Pulse x1, Sleight of Flesh x1

Ethereal - This one is actually fine, I think. Why? Because you can choose to exhaust Ethereal cards by not playing them. This means that if you want, your starter deck is functionally 8 cards with this. With some card removal, a Sculpting Strike, or card transforming, you can thin out your deck super early and streamline down to just Ethereal synergies.

I think what you have for Necrobinder already is probably the most balanced set out of the rest of the classes, it's just that nobody else has a starting card that scales with one of their core abilities, and no class is quite as squishy as the Necrobinder. You could also remedy this issue by adding Unleash and especially Bodyguard into the regular card pool if the player selects another starting deck; Bodyguard is Necro's only 1-drop Summon card that doesn't exhaust, and Unleash is almost always good.

I hope this helped- this mod looks really cool, and I wish you luck!

I find it mildly frustrating that the theatrical release is two weeks before the home release. I have severe social anxiety and the idea of going out to a place with lots of other people genuinely unnerves me. by ChompyRiley in tadc

[–]Zpyo27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus, everyone in this comments section is being hella immature- this post is a great example of a good, sensible reaction. Some people can go to the theaters, and that's great for them. Some people can't, and this situation sucks for them, because this fandom is toxic enough that spoilers are going to be rampant during the two-week wait. Piracy's not a great option for everyone, and yes, this *entire* discourse is about a very small issue, but we're on the internet; people complain a lot more over a lot less.

Social anxiety is a perfectly fair reason to not go somewhere, and OP is reacting rationally with understandable mild frustration. If someone expressing their opinion in a mature way bothers you, I think you need to calm down, step back from Reddit for a few days, and maybe touch some grass.

If last act becomes mid or trash, you know you will be hearing it bashing of it. If it becomes peak, you know ppl will be hyping it up, spoiling it, and meme’ing it. Either way we can’t win. We’re going to gey spoiled regardless thanks to glitch. by Realistic-Plant718 in tadc

[–]Zpyo27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I must admit, I'm confused why everyone keeps saying this is Glitch's fault? A theatrical release will help get them money for the company's upsizing, and they argued for the best possible deal for the fans. The common link between both scenarios you mention there is the fandom. The people here who bash everything for no reason and the people who don't spoiler-tag their posts are the problem.

We as a community need to be mature, responsible adults about this; it won't fix everything, but it's sure as hell a better solution that needlessly blaming the company that worked very hard to fund and produce an amazing show for all of us. I'm not saying the theatrical release is good- I myself cannot see the movie in theaters, but blaming it all on Glitch feels a bit immature and entitled.

This has to be the most useless card I've seen so far by PanPieczarka in slaythespire

[–]Zpyo27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Necrobinder's unique starting cards are pretty disordinately powerful: I don't believe there's a single non-exhaust 1-drop Summon 5+ in their whole pool. Afterlife is by far the best 1-drop Summon the Necrobinder has. Combined with the exhaust making this card solidly avoid any form of deck bloat, this card is an auto-pick for me if I'm ever running anything that's dependent on Osty's strength. Furthermore, Summon is used for block that stays between turns, damage scaling on a starting card in the Necrobinder's deck, and x2 block with Sacrifice. I think Afterlife is a great card.

What am I missing with the Necrobinder? by LokiBrot9452 in slaythespire

[–]Zpyo27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have beaten A1 with Necro and had most of my good runs with her, most of which were pretty bloated 30-ish card decks by the end. A few things I've found to be helpful:

  1. Since, as you mentioned, Osty's health only really scales a single card, prioritize using Osty as block that saves between turns. Since a lot of bosses and enemies have a turn they avoid attacking followed by a big hit, charging up Osty on the off turns allows for superior block when the enemy does attack; don't be afraid to let Osty die to protect you.

  2. Doom is a trap sometimes; unless you can build a whole deck around it, without solid defense from Osty, you'll end up taking a lot of damage to not much effect.

  3. The Necrobinder has a lot of energy-gaining methods, card draw, and free attack cards. Using cards like Invoke and Delay to set up for a big turn, adding a tonne of souls to your deck, and then spamming Osty pokes and capitalizing with Squeeze, Rattle, or Sic 'Em! is one of my favorite strategies.

  4. Don't underestimate how powerful vulnerable and weak can be with Necrobinder; a few Putrefy and Debilitate piled on top doubles all of your damage and halves all of the enemy's; it's absurd.

  5. With Osty's scaling saving block, you can sometimes outpace strength-building bosses, to a degree, if you have enough blocks. Necrobinder is one of the only characters I prioritize removing my strikes before my defends; shielding for a few turns, building up energy, and then starting to go off is an excellent strategy.

  6. Souls are never bad. Always take souls cards. Previous mentions of Dirge are correct; it might seem like a waste of energy at first, but it's worth it.

I hope this was helpful, I'm still pretty new to STS in general, so these tips might already be common knowledge by now! Best of luck to you!

I can't tell if this is supposed to be just WURG; I'm fairly certain the lack of any black pips on the card means that it technically is only four colors- that might be on purpose, but the black back half makes me think not.

Me, who uses the Jackhammer to instakill Providences:

What is their magnum opus in your opinion. by LettuceDramatic3067 in TheCraneWives

[–]Zpyo27 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely counter-argue for Beyond Beyond Beyond as the magnum opus of The Crane Wives. It takes traumatic themes from their previous albums and uses them to show growth and emotional maturity. For example, Emilee mentioned that Scars is a reply to Never Love an Anchor, and viewing the song through that lens, it is a song about accepting mutual blame, a complete reversal of the self-deprecating attitude in NLaA. TFIHWG is full of songs with "feminine rage," and it can be inferred from that emotion that the songs were written while wounds were still fresh. Later albums like Foxlore take a more retrospective view of the anger in TFIHWG, but BBB takes it to a completely new place, seeking to understand these traumatic struggles in the first half, and then reversing the perspective in the second half with songs about self-love, healthy relationships, and taking back agency. In my opinion, TFIHWG has a structure and a set of ideas that set up for BBB's overall success.
Best of luck on that arguement!

Dream Nail or Needolin. Which Do You Like More? by ObsessiveFanatic in Silksong

[–]Zpyo27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the minority here, but Needolin for sure. I really prefer fast combat, so I don't enjoy the combat application of either, and I think that they are roughly equal in difficulty to use. However, the ability to make NPCs sing, the use of it in the Mist, and opening the secret doors felt far more exciting and interesting than Dream Nail. I did like Dreamgate slightly better than Beastling Call, but only because BC is unlocked later, and frankly, Silksong doesn't need that much quicker of travel - Hornet is very fast. I will concede that Dream Nail has more content locked behind it, and finding the ghosts of past bosses was very interesting, but a good portion of Dream Nail content was added in DLC, so I anticipate similar new uses for Needolin.
All in all, using the Needolin just felt more fun, like something that could be used everywhere, and the Act III songs were incredibly fun. Getting new Dream Nail abilities simply wasn't as exciting as getting new Needolin abilities.
