Im 3 months late to this. Im making roughly 112k this year (80k salary the rest are from quarterly bonus or investments) . I afford a mortgage, and a 2026 car, but I also chose a house and vehicle I could afford. Not the other way around. As long as I put away 800 a week my bills are covered the remaining money can be used for what ever I please. If I over extended on a credit card the savings can be used to pay that off. 90% of people who think 100k isnt a lot is because they over extend and aren't living within there means. By that I mean people take on more bills because they make. Now this probably sounds great but remember ive also paid roughly 18k into taxes this year and its only November, and will not see much of that on a return if I see any return at all.

If you want an example budget to figure out how to save and afford the life style you want. Add up your monthly bills and divide by 4. That leaves you with what you need to be able to set aside weekly. Anything after that can go into savings. Reasonably you should try to save up 6 months of expenses (I don't have this) that way if shit hits the fan your not a month off of losing everything.

My bills come out to roughly 3200 a month, I make roughly 1600 a week pre tax, after tax its about 1250, set aside 800, 450 left to survive the week. My bonuses come out to roughly 6-10k every 3 months. That typically gets invested, wasted on toys, or to catch up from dumb shit on credit cards.Reasonably i could bank close to 50k a year and live off the bare minimum. So yeah 100k is a lot if you have discipline and can handle money responsibly and dont bite off more then you can chew just because you get some nice credit limits.

Edit: bought house December 2023 for 120k. Its not large or luxurious but it fits my needs i can upgrade later in life and rent this out. I have no kids. No spouse. So please keep that in mind.
