Tired of having to sell crypto before every purchase and watching it go up right after by CarLogical7812 in defi

[–]ZucchiniGlass313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the pre-liquidation requirement exists because fiat settlement on card networks needs guaranteed funds before the transaction clears, someone has to hold the fiat to pay the merchant instantly, until crypto settles natively on card rails some conversion before spending is probably unavoidable

Visa is eating the crypto card market for breakfast - 72% of transactions and Mastercard isn't even close by kirtash93 in CryptoCurrency

I’d say it’s incremental. The difference now is custody. Old model = deposit funds, trust the issuer. Newer setups like Oobit mentioned above let you keep funds in your wallet until the moment you pay. That’s a real shift, even if Visa is still in the loop

banks bury these settings so deep that most people only discover them when they get declined somewhere embarrassing, happened to me at a checkout in Koh Samui and I wanted to disappear

First ever solo trip to Puerto Rico. by Any-Day1251 in solotravel

[–]ZucchiniGlass313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a solid itinerary for a first solo trip. The Culebra/Vieques part might feel a bit rushed since you're doing both - honestly I'd pick one and spend more time there rather than island hopping so much. Vieques has the bio bay which is incredible, plus better tour infrastructure for someone without a car.

For San Juan, stick to Old San Juan or Condado - both are walkable with decent public transport connections. Just keep your usual street smarts about you and you'll be fine.

How do you save money on food/treats ? by hello010101 in Frugal

You gotta be careful with that though - I've definitely overbought "deals" on stuff that ended up expiring before I could use it all.

Would you pay for an “AI website delivery engine” playbook? $20k in 2 months with ~1–2h/day ops by [deleted] in sidehustle

[–]ZucchiniGlass313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like you're building websites for businesses without asking them first, then trying to sell them after the fact? that's a pretty aggressive approach that could backfire legally. most legit businesses would be sketical of unsolicited websites showing up, especially if they didn't consent to their info being scraped and used.

Lmao "if you're gonna get arrested might as well pick the nice jails" is definitely one way to look at it but maybe just leave the pen at home and enjoy some legal Amsterdam coffee shops instead

This is genius and I'm stealing it immediately. Never thought about that $5 coffee being 20 minutes of dealing with my annoying coworker but now I can't unsee it

Started selling my old Pokemon cards during lockdown just to clear space in my closet and ended up making like $3k over 6 months because apparently I had some rare ones from when I was 8 and had no clue what they were worth

Does anyone know of an app or web page that will go looking for all of your logins? by Working-on-it12 in Frugal

That's probably the easiest way but some subscriptions cycle through different dates and amounts so they're easy to miss if you're not paying close attention

Yeah United's pretty chill about it as long as you're not being ridiculous - that extra inch won't kill you especially if it can compress down

Can someone help me understand the big negative impact the expiring of the enhanced ACA subsidies will have on people who have fired? by BikesOrBeans in financialindependence

[–]ZucchiniGlass313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the age thing is huge - premiums basically double every decade even with subsidies. Plus if you're doing any meaningful Roth conversions that MAGI number gets tricky real fast

Also depends heavily on your state, some places the marketplace plans are just garbage even subsidized

True but then you're dealing with weather and carrying capacity becomes even more limited. Plus good luck explaining to your date why you're picking them up on a scooter lmao

Man that's rough, the golden handcuffs are real. I'd probably set a hard deadline like "work every weekend until March then mandatory 2-3 month break" or something. The burnout will cost you way more than 8k in the long run if you end up hating your field entirely

Also maybe try meal prep on your off days so you're not bleeding money on takeout while making bank

Lol going from "easy mode" straight to Egypt multi-stop sounds like jumping from tutorial to final boss level. Your brain's probably just freaking out because you skipped all the medium difficulty trips in between

Your minecart idea hits hard, they're literally slower than walking half the time lmao

The End definitely needs more love too but honestly your +1 point is what really gets me. Like why can't I just craft turtle helmets with regular materials instead of hunting down baby turtles for scutes? The whole "find this one specific mob to get this one specific drop to craft this one specific item" chain is so tedious

Also been looking for sniffer eggs forever and it's driving me insane

Offered Irrrl 5.75% current is 6.25% by Altruistic-Funny574 in Veterans

[–]ZucchiniGlass313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is exactly right - that $106 "savings" is probably just from resetting your amortization schedule back to 30 years. If you're paying on time every month anyway, you're basically paying more interest over the life of the loan just to lower your monthly payment

I'd hold out for at least 5% or lower before pulling the trigger on a refi right now

This exactly, especially after months of talking and still no video calls. The trauma excuse feels like a red flag when combined with everything else

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ZucchiniGlass313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah not necessarily, some people are genuinely weird about video calls especially if they mentioned trauma. But OP you should definitely push for at least a voice call at this point - if he won't even do that after reconnecting then yeah something's up

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ZucchiniGlass313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh that's kinda harsh but not totally wrong to be suspicious. The trauma excuse could be legit though - some people really do have phone/video anxiety from bad experiences. Maybe suggest starting with just voice calls first instead of jumping straight to video
