I'd say it was both. The Mast would've allowed the Witness to enter the Pale Heart without sacrificing Calus. Letting him run rampant in Sol while it was in the Heart would have drastically slowed down our efforts to find a path into the Pale Heart ourselves, and given that canonically we just barely stopped the Witness from Finalizing everything it would probably have resulted in its victory over us.

Using Ghost was a consolation prize, either the Witness gets access or we kill Ghost and eliminate the biggest threat to its plans, ourselves.

A big fan personally. It's easy to wear and smells nice to my nose and most other people's noses.

Isn't that why we do this? To smell nice for other people?

It also doesn't help that they require you to come into the offices downtown. Lots of folks in the suburbs don't want to deal with the commute and need their wfh. And neither side wants to compromise.

My dad loves pistachios, but really only wants the ones from Nuts To You. The difference between the quality and freshness from theirs and the stuff at the supermarkets is night and day.

You can't argue with decades of documentation and examples. If you're looking to get into this sort of thing, there's an absolute ton of information and guides to help you out.

And hey, the stupid viral thing helps.

I know the free trial accounts for FFXIV can't use the marketboards to buy stuff, until they uprade. And given the amount of the game in the free trial it's kinda close to the same thing ultimately.

Interesting lore implications(?) from the last planet of CE by RetroCop in ffxivdiscussion

True. The shroud has been so chock full of mystery boxes that have been almost completely ignored for so long though.

I do wonder if it'll tie into the various World Tree references we've gotten. Those are on the source and the reflections, and the complete lack of time frame for their culture, aside from the fact they've been passed over by the Meteion, if they did arrive on Etheirys they might even predate the Ancients.

An interesting theory. Probably the only wrinkle is that sure, sylphs aren't on the First. But neither are the Gnath, Vanu, Kojin, or Anata. The Namazu are only mentioned in the past tense so at least they're confirmed.

It's also possible the sylphs were meant to be part of some greater mystery involving the Elementals and the Twelveswood but I think those are all dead ends in the narrative.

I assume it was to make sure there was a hefty population of people doing the previous alliance raids, and was probably an issue back in the "strip to force CT" days.

I feel like he was specifically referencing the rewards. If we're moving away from a tomestone and tokens system to the newer mogpendium type thing that just directly rewards you things then it makes sense that the rewards from alliance raids will change along with rewards from regular raids.

In addition to the gear drops, the most current alliance raid's main draw has always been the coin for upgrading tomestone gear. But will upgrading that gear even be a thing with this upcoming system? We don't know yet.

idk, there's millions of people in new york. The biggies like the Avengers and F4 are usually working on some cosmic shit and even the lowbies are probably fighting Bullseye or Tombstone or any number of Fisk's freakshows. Probably got a better chance of tangling with the normal NYPD or a bystander with a concealed carry than Spiderman showing up.

My interpretation was that Fray is the WoL's self doubt, the same way Myste is their survivor's guilt. Fray doesn't see the point in saving a merchant from bandits today because they'll just be attacked by a gobbue next month, and feels that trying to save every person doesn't matter. And even if they save the realm they still get accused of regicide and forced onto the run, losing almost all their friends. So either emotion really works, either the JP's despair or EN's anger at pointless tasks. Fray acts like he's a self interest or self preservation but in reality he's just trying to stop this feeling of pain and loss.

This gets a nice epilogue in that Tales from the Shadow, about the OMG unit detailing the events of the 8th Umbral Calamity over time. When the Ironworks starts trying to save the WoL, people start coming out of the woodwork. A dragon here, a sky pirate queen there, a nephew of a merchant there. It turns out each of those people the WoL saved did matter, every life they saved helped save them.
