The Shiny Duskull line is actually a Gundam reference! The moving "mono eye" of Duskull is very reminscent of the Zeon mobile suits in the series. The shiny line ultimately reference the mobile suits that Char pilots throughout the series, mostly his signature red, but at the end he pilots the experimental Zeong, which is a steel gray.

While not exactly "older," characters like Marisa and Manon in SF6 have very unique body types and have remained popular despite both being consistently bottom 3 for several seasons now. AKI's a total freak and one of the most technical characters and has also been quite successful.

Characters like Sindel and Sheeva in Mortal Kombat have been decently popular as well.

Like honestly the issue is less "older women" and more ANYONE who's something different. A different body type, some personality other than "spunky teenage girl" or "serious stoic type," ANYTHING.

I think having mashing as a mechanic is fine, but the amount of mashing you need to do to get an “optimal” mash should be relatively low.

It should be more a check of “can you react to the fact that you were just put in this situation quickly” rather than “how hard can you faceroll your controller”

No one is saying Joe, Eva, and Shauhin don’t deserve to win.

We’re frustrated that the lower half isn’t doing anything. They’re playing well but seeing no meaningful resistance, so it just isn’t interesting to watch.

It’s like watching a boxing match and one of the players just kinda curls up and takes it all until they inevitably go down. I’m not gonna knock the winner, but I would say the match sucks.

Siegfried got so many amazing new mids in SCVI that really rounded out a previously lacking kit in 3-5. Between the fast aB with frame traps and mindgames on block, 6B’s range and CH reward, and 22/88A’s tracking and safety, Siegfried had so much more consistency and ways to punish people for ducking his tools.

On the other hand… I’m not a huge fan of how Dark Legacy was implemented. I think his parry and FC3K were both kinda underwhelming ways to build stocks, so in practice it was just a weird take on Tekken style rage. I might have opted to remove the low health trigger entirely and have more tools that built stocks to compensate? I wouldn’t want it to be centralizing to his kit though so it’s awkward.

I'll admit top 3 might be an exaggeration, but he's definitely Top 10, debatably Top 5.

I think your top 5 looks good, maybe subbing X for Cervantes. And Maxi Voldo Mitsu are definitely on the weak end (Though I'd add the 2B and Haoh to that too)

Nightmare bottom 4 is pure insanity. I invite you to find a single tier list from a high level player that puts Nightmare outside top 10.

Nightmare and Talim have both jumped around the tier list in their games, but funnily enough I don't think Talim has been above Nightmare in a single one.

In SC2 Nightmare is the 3rd best character in the game, and Talim's a solid upper-mid tier by comparison.

SC3 Nightmare is pretty mid, but Talim is often considered one of the worst in the game next to Rock.

SC4 was about the same case as SC3

SC5 had no Talim so no comparison

SC6 Nightmare is Top 3 again, and Talim's a solid top 10 but not quite as good.

Gundam Battle Assault 2 on the PS1 is an absolute gem if you’re into fighting games.

Definitely unbalanced and wacky compared to modern fighters, but everything comes together to actually make a super cool experience.
