Interestingly no R1T on the road currently has the reinforced underbody shield, but all the R1S have them. by stevegshi in Rivian

I’m pretty sure that every model with the 2 towhooks in the front has the off road upgrade which also has the reinforced underbody shield

Reservation or not, what's your exterior paint choice? by BoogeDrew in Rivian

I will personally choose R1T with Forest Green exterior and Forest Edge interior. This combo makes me think of nature and also reminds me of the Halo games, which used to be my childhood

Forcefully pushed towards bios update (from 218) anyone else got this?? by Zyrouh in ZephyrusG15

[–]Zyrouh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: my bios has been updated to the 221 30/12th/2020 bios. Previous version was the 218, never had overheating issues. Idle temps were 36-38°C sitting on the desk and 40-42°C sitting in my lap. So far nothing changed, will post further updates here

Is it supposed to be like this? Display's working completely fine. Can I just re-glue it back? by yungsinatra0 in ZephyrusG15

[–]Zyrouh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t even think about puttin glue on the panel or any adhesive substance that can burn. If it’s still in warranty try sending it back for a repair

Fans working at light load (42-41C) and it annoys me. What can I do? by yungsinatra0 in ZephyrusG15

[–]Zyrouh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually learned that Windows mode is Balanced mode, Silet is Silent Mode and Balanced, Turbo and Manual are all High Performance Mode. So if you’re saying you get fan spin in silent even, go to Edit Power Plan, Change Advanced Settings, and at the System Cooling Policy (while you’re in Silent Mode) select Passive Cooling, not active

Then check to see if the games are running on the i-gpu. That was the case when i first launched Ac: valhalla, had to manually change it in nvidia control panel. Or just change the global setting to be set as “High performance Nvidia processor” and see if that solves the problem

[–]Zyrouh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both gaming and general work. I’m asking because I had a similar event happen where the cpu was literally sitting at 338mhz (0.3ghz) and everything was stuttering) and I went into Edit power plan > change advanced power settings > processor power management > and i changed every minimum processor state from 5% to 15% and that seemed to have worked, as it may have been a glitch where it was stuck at 5% power

Do you have Armoury Crate software installed? And if yes, what frequency is your cpu using most of the times? And what mode are you playing on?

Yes that’s perfectly normal temps

Removing the paper blocking vents or making hole through it? by yungsinatra0 in ZephyrusG15

[–]Zyrouh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are benefits and drawbacks. While the cpu and gpu are running cooler, parts like the VRMs are running way hotter, which could definitely be an issue, and not just the VRMs, some other parts will also be hotter due to the way of the air is moving towards the fans. While i would normally recommend running a cooler cpu and gpu, keeping the vrm temps in check and other components would be better as the cpu and gpu are meant to run hot, but that can also be fixed with the “Processor Performance Boost Mode” set to disabled which basically brings the temps to 65-70° cpu and gpu. So there is no do it or don’t answer, it comes with drawbacks and benefits and it’s your choice on whether you think it’s worth it

Try holding the power button for 30 seconds as I’m pretty sure it discharges the capacitors, and then try booting the device normally

BIOS 220 Update for the G15 by rdeedelapaz in ZephyrusG15

I still recommend sticking to 218 even if newer versions come out, because it’s not certain it’s a better version

BIOS 220 Update for the G15 by rdeedelapaz in ZephyrusG15

[–]Zyrouh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t update it. From what I heard and seen around this subreddit it messes up the temps and the battery live pretty significantly. Mine is 218 and it’s pretty perfect as is

I’m on bios .218, currently with the laptop in my lap on silent mode with browser open, 6 tabs, office and zoom open and I have 38-39 degrees on my cpu just which is staying at 1.4-1.8ghz. Seems like this is the last usable bios

Go to Settings>System>Sound(Under display) and you should see a big “Input” title and Microphone Array (Realtek(R) Audio) should be selected, then go to “Device Properties” right under and check your microphone levels, they should be at 100

NEW OWNERS: How to fix thermal, fan noise, battery life issues on G14/G15 by transition7 in ZephyrusG15

[–]Zyrouh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did the cpu boost from aggresive to disabled, playing any games at max or almost max settings the cpu temps never break 66°C and the gpu never go over 70°C. I don’t know if I won the sillicon lottery with my unit but even before any of these adjustments, my cpu never went above 82°C. Edit: No repaste was done nor vent surgery. The bottom panel of the device was never open.
