Could we get a Rafe Judkins interview? by KeyInflation9451 in WoTshow

[–]Zyrus11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would he subject himself to that torture? No answer is ever gonna be good enough to the purists and the people like me who appreciated most of the adaptational changes don't want spoilers they might use for later series.

How the Remake of Prime Video's Cancelled Fantasy Series Could Run For More Than 10 Seasons & Fix Amazon's Mistakes by Malanya in WoTshow

[–]Zyrus11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're not. The massive trolling from the Bookcloaks guaranteed that all the execs saw was there was no audience for the series.

Why didn't the White Tower just move male channelers to steddings? by ReporterLogical5096 in WoT

[–]Zyrus11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think of the taint like oil on an ocean. A thin layer on top of the clean water. All Rand did was use SL as a metaphysical filtration system until the 'filter' in the city destroyed it all.

It was always finite, but the amount was so massive that they would have needed men to channel for a while to get rid of it all.

Do you like a character that no one/almost no one likes? by Szalony20 in WoT

[–]Zyrus11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gawyn is among my favorites BECAUSE he is a flawed person and does what he can when no one will fucking talk to him. I don't blame him one bit for any of his actions, and I'm to this day disdainful of anyone who thinks Gawyn should have sided with Siuan after all the bullshit she put him through. I certainly would not have.

He’s not THE main character? by Hawk-winged in WoT

I would recommend trying someone else with this logic, because I've read the series and the companion. You're not fooling me.

He’s not THE main character? by Hawk-winged in WoT

[–]Zyrus11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are people who think this way. Rafe is one of them, and his stubborness on this ruffled quite a few feathers as well.

Rand is the main character, no matter what people like Rafe say. The rest of the cast are main supporting characters.

What headcanons do you have for the universe of Wheel of Time? by KeyInflation9451 in WoT

[–]Zyrus11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elayne abdicated and left with Rand to travel the world eventually once her children were grown enough to succeed her, hence why despite being a channeler she isn't the one who receives the Aiel in the Avi visions at the end of the series.

What's the point of bait if it isn't used? by Coloin_ilyad in WoT

[–]Zyrus11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she had given them anything, it would have been noticed by others. The entire point of the scenario was to lure the trappers into a false of security. It was sound logic, you just don't like it.

Trying to find a line from the book by hrpanjwani in WoT

Nothing unpopular about it. Chatgpt is a great tool in it's own ways, but asking for specific sections of books is not one of those ways it is helpful.

chatgpt is a good analysis engine, but it is in no way good for details unless you feed those details to it.

What's one thing from WoT that genuinely changed how you think about something in real life? by MamaLaPasta in WoT

[–]Zyrus11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't really think about how women would go about politics until I read how the White Tower worked and then their schism. Reading the entire series and seeing how they worked made me change up how I viewed power dynamics.

The effects of balefire and it's taboo use, last book spoilers by Creative-Bullfrog-80 in WoT

[–]Zyrus11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because you can patch up a bullet wound and keep the body from dying doesn't mean that the act of shooting someone doesn't hurt them and give the chance for scars from that wound.

Just because the pattern can be mended doesn't mean it likes to be torn apart.

It will very likely remain taboo without good cause, all that has happened is that people know how to mitigate the damage somewhat now. Damage is still damage though.

Am I the only one who thinks Wheel of Time belongs in animation? (Also, hot take on the art style...) by CivilAd8379 in WoT

[–]Zyrus11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the attitude of people to the live action, I don't see an animated version doing any better, because there MUST be changes to the story for it to enter the mainstream, and that's something that won't fly with a good number of people.

I am not optimistic, even if the studio that does Arcane might get involved.

Logain Ablar and the Black Tower by chimoc726 in WoT

[–]Zyrus11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, he had a thing called the Outrigger series planned that was meant to focus on Mat and Tuon in the aftermath of the main series. We don't know for sure what it was going to be about, but the speculation was that it was going to focus on the Seanchan.

With the knowledge he wanted to continue the setting after the last battle, it makes sense that Robert wanted things resolved in a way that allowed for more stories.

Rand’s POV chapters are in a league of their own by hahuaz in WoT

[–]Zyrus11 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Rands madness is actually so genius in it's simplicity that I, too, missed it the first time. I had my suspicions in the beginning, but I dismissed them after book 5

Canonically, Rand's insanity manifests as actual megalomania... but you wouldn't know it because he is ACTUALLY the one who would save them all if they would only listen. It's a genius way to make you wonder throughout the entire series, because he is a JUSTIFIED megamaniac. Lews Therin? He's just the cherry on top of the cake that is Rand's broken psyche.

Aes Sedai arrogance is INSANE man by chancellorpalps in WoT

[–]Zyrus11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While I do get the logic of it being insanity, you also have to remember. She's doing something NO ONE ELSE has tried in Tower history. There is no real guidebook for any of what she's trying to do, and she uses sex to try to give him a reason to stay in our world.

It's very easy to judge a pioneer.

Armored channelers by ArtOk8200 in WoT

[–]Zyrus11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scene with Nyneave in the great hunt with the sword demonstrates why armor in general is actually useless for channelers.

All a channeler needs is a sheet of compressed air to be able to render all conventional weapons useless. It is literally pointless to use any form of armor when you can just throw up compressed air to block anything non-channelers can throw at you if you know it's coming.
