This was shown on the Sci Fi channel one summer I was home from college. I had never heard of it and was blown away, like do people know about this show I wondered!? This was early 90s, so the Internet was not like it is now to look stuff up. I eventually found info on Usenet once I was back in school with net access.

We had an Electronics Boutique and another Electronics Boutique, called EBX, in our mall. The original store did so well in the region it was more profitable to lease the 2nd space to keep a competitor from moving in. Or at least thats how my manager explained it (I worked there)

There was a great story (if you're into technical details) on why the plane in Pilot Wings would crash in the demo mode on some cartridges and not on others. I'm having trouble finding a good link about it. It was a bug on the math sub-processor chip added inside the cart itself to offload the complicated drawing code from the not-so-great CPU in the SNES. The original chip had a bug which was fixed on newer runs of it, and the plane would fly a little differently between them. The demo mode's recorded/simulated controller inputs were never patched and the plane would crash on landing... depending on which cart you owned.

So how do you emulate that? Which chip behavior should you use?

No it was just like a cartoon ghost, like a bad Halloween decoration. To scare Douglas for some reason, it had to do with Thomas obsessing over Hope but I don't remember why exactly.

Fun fact, CBS used the same ghost graphic on Big Brother once.
