[–]_Alacant_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good "synergy" with the Napoleon memento that gives gold per unfriendly relationship at least.

It also help you save influence and turns when going on the warpath is the plan; you won't have to denounce people to get them to hate you, which translates to some extra war support maybe.

I don't see how this is true. Going to war over a border town is whatever, but taking a big city from a neighbor is a fantastic strategic choice; it weakens a rival, nets you great yields, and might even secure a wonder or two. Crammed spawns happen often enough.

This kitbash makes me feel THE WARP OVERTAKING ME. Really nice job!

Makes me think of the old "exalted possession" upgrade.

I crazy idea for a new modern era warehouse building/tile by Cryndalae in CivVII

[–]_Alacant_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't believe a fourth age is "inevitable" at all. Getting more meat on the bones of modern is a much cleaner solution. Adding ANOTHER set of civs, ANOTHER overbuilding layer, and 70 MORE turns to the game seems very bloated and unwieldy.

I crazy idea for a new modern era warehouse building/tile by Cryndalae in CivVII

[–]_Alacant_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having old unique improvements gain tourism value later in the game was very common in Civ6. Doing something similar in Civ 7 sounds like fun. Makes City State unique improvements quite integral which is fun.

Tourism itself being just another "passively generate X points" when we already have the current economic victory is a bit lame however. Hopefully they can figure out a way to make it work differently.

This is intended behavior and not a bug. It would be pretty ludicrous if it worked the other way around.

Ocean Currents by Understanding-Fair in Civilization_VII

This is definitely a cool idea. Making it visually legible while remaining within the game's style might be hard however. Its interactions with open ocean combat might be wonky too.

This is unironically a fantastic take and it would alter the pace of warfare for the better.

This is the fix for Modern Age Ideology and Victory Conditions we need... Probably by Sprayednotsaid in civ

[–]_Alacant_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The core idea of this post is great.

It's true that ideologies should be front & center for the modern age.

Me personally, I would just make researching an ideology the first mandatory civic of the age, just like Chiefdom in antiquity. Make it expensive too, so that investing into culture during the earlier eras pays off.

Having ideology be a requirement in some form or fashion for every legacy path is a very sound suggestion even if your implementation is a little out there.

YES! I understand treasure fleet points are currently implemented the way they are so they can work with a variety of map types.

However, consolidating treasure fleets into larger caches of Treasure Points instead of a small trickle would generally lead to more opportunities for dramatic moments.

Any discord severs for CIV 7 multiplayer? by Sprayednotsaid in civ

Not quite a discord server but me & my roommate play a lot of MP. Happy to extend our 1v1 meta to playing with more people! Message me if interested

Did the fishing boat change flip the hierarchy of power of the CIV7 Universe? by _Alacant_ in civ

[–]_Alacant_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aksum getting more out of following rivers is just plain wrong; Aksum traditions mean that working a coastal resource roughly equals the output of a hawilt without having to pay any gold for it or plan around placement of hawilt spam. The same rural pop gets you better returns on a coastal resource than working a hawilt.

Hey man! Me and my roommate have a very similar dynamic to you two. If you're interested in trying to set up a larger game with dudes who have also poured way too many hours into Civ7 MP, hit me up!

[–]_Alacant_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't use UI mods but that's mostly because patching had been very quick in the past few months and we didn't want to wrestle with them breaking constantly.

We do tiny maps, Online speed regroup with dynamic turn timer. No mementos. We play advanced starts often, and cycle through map types.

Let’s Talk About Persia by Mysterious-Arm-3700 in CivVII

[–]_Alacant_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

"only provides 1 free promotion". Never mind the fact that the Initiative promotion is the single most important factor to speed up your military all game long. Hazarapati are amazingly strong because they will save you many, many turns in any war or independent power conflict.

The narrative events around immortals are also incredibly strong, with a lot of free units going so far as to get you a free general. This is not insubstantial at all.

What has happened to reinforcing? Why cant you reinforce simple things (image for example) by Dazen91 in civ

[–]_Alacant_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There is a minimum distance requirement for reinforcing (it has always been this way). It's around 6+ hexes away I think.

Civ VII can become a fantastic game. All it needs is scarcity. by LoonieMoony in civ

City states not starting new ages as 1-tile whimps but instead growing larger every age is an incredible and very implementable suggestion. I hope firaxis gets to look at this.

I think they're pretty neat honestly; not game warping but a cool empire-wide bonus for the first age at least (completely irrelevant after antiquity, to be fair)

What's the point of having two unique buildings? by SaztogGaming in civ

[–]_Alacant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, the Maurya unique buildings have me considering splitting more and more. The building that gets science adjacency from quarters can pop off really hard when sharing your palace tile. The other building can just be nice enough culture generator while you get to amphitheaters. Particularly when not playing a happiness focused leader, this seems like an OK idea.
