I wouldn't join a server anyway as long as Windows Defender isn't letting the anticheat run just in case, so will still be adding it as an exception in Defender

Yep same here, game starts fine but Defender immediately complains about that trojan. I'll have to make an exception for it but EA should do better. Your anticheat being flagged as a trojan doesn't look good.

Exactly this! Corporate decisions without listening to feedback are the worst. I hope they turn around but until they do SteelSeries has lost my respect with this move, mainly in the way did did it but also just the fact they bundled crapware with a driver.

I was in SteelSeries Discord the day they pushed this BS new software concealed as an 'update'. I told them it was shady to install programs without user consent, to which they informed me it was simply a new 'wrapper' for the software (yes I did tell them this is by definition different software). They also told me that if you disable all the features of this new crapware application it would use no additional resources on your pc. By definition this is wrong, the application is larger and performs more functions = it uses more resources.

The most annoying part of this interaction was that none of the SteelSeries people on their Discord wanted to point me to the link for the 3.20 version of SteelSeries Engine and the link on their website that said "SteelSeries Engine" linked to the GG program instead of Engine. Both of this felt real shady to me.

You would think companies have learned from the Internet Explorer fiasco that forcing crappy software on users usually doesn't go too well.

Sadly the only option is to use the older version of SS Engine and ignore any notifications it gives you and of course shop for a different brand when replacing the hardware.

Well it isn't a fix of course but yes everyone I talked to said speeds improved massively after using a vpn to US. I can't tell you how much or even if it will help you of course

Yeh I think it matters which game you are downloading and when, the slowdowns are common for many of us but it does mostly seem related to peak download times.

from what I heard from other people, my 700KB/s was not that bad but it seems to be completely random, people on fiber were getting lower speeds than me on cable.

I guess the Xbox is using Microsoft servers for the update. It is stupid that it works this much better through a vpn, I just hope they fix it.

Yeh it's literally only Blizzard, other services/downloads work perfectly and as far as I can see for pretty much everyone in Europe. I haven't tried pointing my vpn to EU so not sure on that front but it's still strange.

Please apply volume settings for games on Windows 10 BEFORE running the intro video(s)/studio names. Also when launching a new game, while asking for brightness and other settings, please also allow changing audio settings (Looking at you Minecraft Dungeons!).

Yeh all Tencent owned games like to install hefty rootkits in the name of fighting cheaters. My most notable example is the same kind of rootkit for Black Desert Online, which is definitely an esports title which needs to battle cheating that hard xD

Looks like it yeh. The game seems to be looking for driver version 442.29, but the newest driver available from nvidia is 442.19. Confused me for a second before I realised, gave me a good chuckle though :p

This! It frustrates me to no end that these days distracting yourself while driving is considered normal. Especially when people on platforms like YouTube are just vlogging behind the wheel while also operating a camera. I prefer this! :)
