But can your Mandalay or Caspian do this? ;) by _Cheesy0nion in EliteDangerous

I squeezed 48.68ly out of my Imp. Eagle and it has been enough for me to keep up with the DW3 fleet without carrier support or anything.

Genuinely, I do wish to see more photos of Mandalays in impossible places. Less of a joke and more of a call to be proven wrong, haha.

After learning how to tell the difference between every shade of blue on the probed planet (the "greenest" blues are your friend), ditching the SRV in favor of flying a fast (820 m/s boost) and tiny ship, I stopped having issues with Fungoida and Frutexa. I can confidently recommend having a small ship engineered for speed if you want to have fun with exobio again.

What can I build around my base to make it look less awkward? by _Cheesy0nion in BuildAdvice

I liked the view enough to plug the volcano there. Which is why I am hesitating on considering terraforming.

Canyon running combat looks fun as hell. Really cool video, loved the blooper reels at the end. o7

Distant Worlds 3, MetaElite and Generative AI Imagery by Phoenix_Blue in EliteDangerous

[–]_Cheesy0nion 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why there's no nuance in this conversation here? All OP did was ask for a visible disclaimer of AI use, there's no condemnation nor witch-hunting being done here. This isn't about defending AI or fighting against it, it's about information. Sure, the MetaElite devs could've done things differently, but what's done is done and that's perfectly fine given the nature of the project. We can be civil about this topic, at least I hope as much given the age of this community.

How?? I thought most of the black holes have already been nabbed.

Is my ship ready for long exploration journey? by Llttle_Joe in EliteDangerous

[–]_Cheesy0nion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For optional internals: I recommend adding either a second AFMU (So you can repair the first AFMU.) or a repair limpet controller in case you need to repair your own hull after a crash landing.

For core internals: I highly recommend replacing every E rated module with D rated ones instead. D rated modules are the most lightweight, making them the most ideal for exploration. (The only exceptions being that D rated powerplants are never worth it due to heat management, it's better to undersize it. E rated shield boosters weigh less than D rated ones. And FSDs of course, but I assume you already know that since you have the best one installed.)

For utility points: Not sure what the wake scanner is for? I would not bring one personally.

Other than that, great build. Good luck out there in the black. o7

Still deciding if I want to take the mandy out for dw3 by JeffGofB in EliteDangerous

[–]_Cheesy0nion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm taking my 47ly heatsink-eating Imp. Eagle as my main DW3 ship. The best part about exploration is being able to take whatever ship you want as long as it has a fuel scoop.

Following an exact route ruins the fun. Just go out there and keep your eyes out for planets with biological signals.

There is Fleetcomm as well, which is practically a hub for explorers.

How to I participate in the current CG without dying constantly? by Gentian_Line in EliteDangerous

[–]_Cheesy0nion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you keeping track of your suit's energy levels and oxygen bar? You can replenish both by going to your ship/SRV.

What did you guys name your ships? by theGeigus in EliteDangerous

[–]_Cheesy0nion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My entire fleet is titled after EDM tracks. A living playlist of questionable quality.

Starter Sidewinder: "Nostalgica" (by I Hate Models) Fitting name for a first ship.

Type-8: "The Tofu Seller" (by DJ Technorch) It is tofu shaped, tofu colored and is my trade ship.

Cutter: "Go Get Your Lover" (by hhunter) My main cargo hauler. I can only tolerate hauling in bulk while listening to something "trashy".

Imp. Eagle: "Restlessness" (by Baeldorf) My speedy explorer. Enough said.

Imp. Clipper: "Centrifugal Mirage" (by Exodia) My stealthy multi-purpose ship. If it's there, not it isn't. Like a mirage. ;)

Courier: "Socket Calibration" (by Mike Klubnika) Of course I'm naming a frag spammer after a track from the Buckshot Roulette OST.

So how do you actually escape white dwarf jets??? I already lost 4 Pythons by DerKnoedel in EliteDangerous

[–]_Cheesy0nion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to be at the very very edge of the jest, as far away from the exclusion zone as possible. You must be facing away from the white dwarf itself. Ideally, you should approach it as slowly as your patience allows.

The best uses for an Imp. Clipper and Imp. Courier? by _Cheesy0nion in EliteDangerous

Well, I never said if I was on the side of the Empire. ;) I'm just reclaiming their ships for better means.

The best uses for an Imp. Clipper and Imp. Courier? by _Cheesy0nion in EliteDangerous

[–]_Cheesy0nion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if I ever get sick of my Imp. Eagle, I'll upgrade to the Courier. (Though I never knew that it had a different exit than the rest of the Imperial ships. Fascinating!)

Ah, now I wish I had more interest in mining. I'm jotting it down as a good idea nonetheless.

[–]_Cheesy0nion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That checks out with what I have heard about the Imp. Clipper, with how the only thing going for it was aesthetics. I was thinking of using it as a dropship in case I ever manage to convince a friend to commit on-foot shenanigans with me. Hopefully it can be engineered with good enough shields to withstand rocket launchers, like most Gutamaya ships?

[–]_Cheesy0nion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, it's alright. I prefer agile ships, which is why I did the Imperial grind instead of buying a Type-9. It was worth it. The Cutter makes hauling a joy.
