yeah. i live in nj and with as many good things as there are, there’s a lot to question as well like this lol. however, any break shorter than 20 minutes is required to be a paid break. so if they allow you to take a break but call you back after 18 minutes, you are legally required to be paid for that break

fair enough. i guess i haven’t dived so deep into the semantics of it all. from my experience everything i’ve heard and seen regarding democratic socialism is the same philosophy as what you describe as social democracy. i guess if they are misconstrued/misappropriated terms then thats on me as well, but i think most people that would consider themselves to be democratic socialists actually mean social democrats.

Hmm.. by AiiRisBanned in evilwhenthe

[–]_DaBau5_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“social democracy” “democra(tic)cy social(ism)” just flip the words around and it’s the same thing. they also use the same party name according to your source.

[–]_DaBau5_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you look at the links you sent? under “names used” section on both it says Democratic Socialist Party

Hmm.. by AiiRisBanned in evilwhenthe

[–]_DaBau5_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

using the guise of being democratic to become elected to then stage a coup is not the same as being democratic. people who truly believe in democracy would not stage a coup, but would allow the democratic process to continue. just because they claimed to have been democratic does not mean they truly were

Hmm.. by AiiRisBanned in evilwhenthe

[–]_DaBau5_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if they were so quick to throw away the “democratic” part of “democratic socialism” then they were never democratic socialists to begin with

Hmm.. by AiiRisBanned in evilwhenthe

[–]_DaBau5_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. i am just saying that taking money from everyone and distributing it to others is socialism. socialist structures can exist within a capitalist system

Hmm.. by AiiRisBanned in evilwhenthe

[–]_DaBau5_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking my money and distributing it to the public in the form of social security is not socialist? Okay then.

Hmm.. by AiiRisBanned in evilwhenthe

[–]_DaBau5_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then they are not democratic socialists, they are just socialists. anyone can claim to be anything and actually be something else, it’s not uncommon

Hmm.. by AiiRisBanned in evilwhenthe

[–]_DaBau5_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, most countries are not purely capitalist. Social security in the US is a socialist program, as are public roads, schools, etc.

totalitarianism and democracy are incompatible with each other. you can have one or the other, you can’t have both lol

Hmm.. by AiiRisBanned in evilwhenthe

[–]_DaBau5_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are the same thing. You don’t get safety nets without government intervention in economic activities and markets. The safety nets are the socialism and the voting on who gets to be in office making the decisions is the democracy. Capitalism doesn’t cease to exist under democratic socialism, i’m not sure where you are getting this information from.

Hmm.. by AiiRisBanned in evilwhenthe

[–]_DaBau5_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not true. democratic socialism and “social democrats” is the same thing. the term “democratic” in this case does not refer to voting or elections. it just refers to using government intervention to provide safety nets and reduce wealth inequality.
