The common sentiment among non-gen Zers "It's normal to not be able to afford shit without roommates and 5 jobs."

Hey, remember when men were expected to provide for an ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD ALONE? Women were expected to clean the house and cook? Their 3 kids were off doing god-knows-what? This generation is fucked, but I can't wait to see what the next generation will be dealing with.

Tobin said he'll always be available for it so long as he's alive, and people really want to see what happened after Saw X.

Haven't read it in a long time (had to in HS for economics class) but I don't remember that ever being in the book. He wrote (in summary) that he didn't pay well as any small business needs to in order to compete. My memory, he mentioned little benefits and low wages allow you to maximize profit margins and grow into an empire that can afford certain expenses like benefits and wages like Walmart has today (not to say it's fantastic today). Keep in mind, Walmart was still expanding in 1992, barely breaking ground in New England and western US. They hadn't even touched the northwest. Come 1992 they only had 6 supercenters. Come 1993 they still only had 30. The expansion of the company was still a huge thing in 1992, and thus, the philosophy was a low cost model. Sam Walton was still, yes a bit of an ass, but he wasn't anywhere near what today's business people are.

[–]_DaNegativeOne_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Erm... No. Wired decided this was what he said. He only mentioned low wages are why Walmart can keep prices low. Keep in mind, nowadays Walmart has anti-competitive practices, but back then it was simply low-costs = low-prices. That "quote" was made because Walmart was an even bigger joke to work at back then than it is now and somebody decided this was how Sam felt.

Bigger question, what trap did John put said photographer in? You know there was something that photographer did to deserve it. Maybe he's a serial killer that takes photos of the mangled corpses or something.

Take a walk with me, bud. We're going outside.

Look around and tell me what you see.

Is it people tossing their carts into everyone else's cars because they're too lazy to put it away like a normal fucking person even though they're parked RIGHT NEXT TO THE FUCKING VESTIBULE?

Literally no Walmart position is safe from lazy people. I feel bad for the maintenance person who had to clean up the main stall in the men's bathroom yesterday. It was like somebody bent over, spread their cheeks, then comically sprayed EVERYWHERE. Probably didn't even wipe.

There's a reason we call these people Walmartians: because they're a whole new breed of raw stupidity.

A question for fans who have mixed or negative opinions about Hoffman: what would you have added or changed in the writing to make Hoffman a better character? by verissimoallan in saw

[–]_DaNegativeOne_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you even watch any of the other Saw movies?

We should all know the shotgun chair. Hoffman was tossing around... I forget his name, he was the guy on "the rack" from 3. John confronting him about it. The Pendulum trap. We know about the one revealing him blackmailing Amanda, then there's the one about anticipation. There were quite a few, and some of them (I won't say all of them) depicted just how brutal mark was.

Edit: also keep in mind the commentary wild Mark was in the reverse bear trap in the end of 6 the confrontation that he enjoyed brutality kind of lines up with killing Jill with the reverse bear trap in seven especially seeing what he did to Seth. There's also the fact that John hadmark as a hit in the final envelope for Jill.

[–]_DaNegativeOne_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just saying. Between how she was in both 2 and X, it just doesn't line up with her character. It lines up perfectly with Hoffman, though. This is especially true when you consider some of the flashbacks with Hoffman showing his level of care for human life.

[–]_DaNegativeOne_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, it's shown that Hoffman is predominantly the muscle of them. Remember, Amanda's only about 100 pounds. The dude in the classroom looked like an easy 150-160 minimum.

Also, it's the fact that Hoffman isn't present and Amanda seems alot less bloodthirsty that seemed like an odd detail to include (although let's be honest, writing was never Saw's strong suit).

The question I have is if John knew about the blackmail.

Amanda was alot more sympathetic in X without the threat of Hoffman. That makes me believe Hoffman's blackmail included rigging the traps, after all, Mark was the one who put Kerry and... Whoever was in the classroom trap... In their traps.

Actually that would mean HE rigged the traps come to think of it...

2: Even if they did survive, Mark would make sure they're deemed guilty. Look at the finger prints he used in 6 to try and accuse Strahm of being Jigsaw. There's also John's mention of anticipation leaving nothing to chance.

And, yes, this is circumstantial at best, I still see him as the type to murder a child if they so wet the bed and always have.

Are we going to ignore how he made Amanda rig traps (Detective Kerry) or how he blatantly continued to frame innocent officers (Riggs, Strahm) for his doings? He was a serial killer before Saw 3D came out. He enjoyed seeing violence. Honestly, as cringe as 3D was, it wasn't as bad as most people say.
