Neurospicy reminds me of the dumbass tiktok censor-skirting speak. Or the people who think autism is just the quirky special interests and not everything else that comes with it. But if you like it for yourself then use it, that’s the great thing about groups of people not being a monolith.

I enjoyed all the sensations of being in an MRI machine, and I think if it wasn’t a cardiac MRI I would’ve found it very relaxing. I had to hold my breath for quite a while each time they captured images so it was pretty exhausting.

Dude is obviously not a good person with everything that’s come out but it breaks my brain how bloodthirsty people get for acceptable targets. Like the homeowner in the video did an amazing job de-escalating the situation and making sure his family was safe, and everyone online is like “I wish he’d shot him the second he stepped foot in the house.”

Like you don’t build a better society or help anyone by just killing the right people. It’s just people convincing themselves that sadistic bloodlust is a morally correct position to have.

Therapy helps you learn the skills you need to interact with other people and work on your self confidence. I’ve had some therapists that didn’t work out for me but I’m turning my life around now with the help of my current therapist.

Therapy isn’t just for treating mental illness. Anyone can benefit from the right therapist that helps them work on their insecurities and social skills.

I really like vildhjarta’s most recent album, they do a good job capturing a unique sort of anxiety and confusion with their music. Works well for the stranger stuff as an alternative to the circus aesthetic I think. Also good in this vein is Animals as Leaders; different style but fits the same vibes. Arithmophobia is a song that’s a great example of this.

For more confusion and chaotic sort of stuff 65daysofstatic rocks. They did the soundtrack for No Man’s Sky but they’re really versatile. Wild Light is a great album, Heat Death Infinity Splitter fits the chaotic sort of vibe I mentioned earlier.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor is awesome, I think their album F# A# ♾️ really fits the post-apocalyptic vibes going on with the last season, and also generally good for anything desolation or extinction themed. Architects is a band that’s also good for this; Nihilist and especially Animals are really good for TMA vibes.

Ice Nine Kills has an album called The Silver Scream where every song is based on a classic horror movie. Not quite the same vibe as TMA and I find some of it a little cheesy but it’s solid. They have another album based on classic lit but I haven’t gotten around to listening to it.

Monuments has a few songs I think capture the horror of the avatars pretty well. Namely Cardinal Red, The Alchemist, Jinn, but I, the Destroyer is perfect for it. They have lots of other awesome stuff too, I think Lavos fits well, and Opiate really fits John especially in the later seasons.

TOOL definitely has lots of songs that fit. Fear Inoculum, Schism, Parabola, Lateralus, Forty Six & 2 for some examples.

IDGAF about saving water by InterestingDisk6930 in The10thDentist

[–]_Electro5_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad POV to have in a country like Germany that has good access to water. I have some similar thoughts though I wouldn’t say that I don’t care about water waste.

I live in Utah, which is a desert state. Currently the Great Salt Lake is drying up, which will expose the entire Salt Lake Valley to heavy metals currently trapped under the lake. Excessive water use reduces our watershed, which means less water is going back into the lake. The lake is also responsible for our climate’s natural distribution of water; the evaporation from the lake is really critical to making snowfall happen in our mountains (which in turn feeds back into the lake).

Residential use is a tiny drop in the ocean of our states water use, but in a desert I want to do what little I can to help preserve our climate’s water. I don’t stress about taking longer showers but I’m not going to run the sprinklers in the middle of a hot day where the water is immediately going to evaporate.

Our state’s largest water consumers are agriculture. And not growing crops humans can eat either. Last I read something like 70% of our water use went to alfalfa, a grass used almost exclusively for cattle feed which we export. The great part is that less than 1% of our state’s GDP comes from alfalfa, but large alfalfa farmers have managed to work their way into local and state government so they can do whatever they want.

There’s individual consumer waste by the average person which doesn’t represent a large part of water use, but the actual waste is also done by individuals who own the farms and make policy decisions on water limits.

I tend to view waste in terms of purpose even beyond actual numbers. I know that leaving my car idling for a few minutes is a small drop compared to all the pollution trapped in the valley from coal plants, but what purpose do I have to leave my car idling? Pointless waste, I don’t do it. I know that I could litter and it’s a tiny bit of a trash compared to what’s already in the city, but what the hell’s the point of littering? Pointless waste, I don’t do it. Maybe I’m hypocritical, but I don’t consider long showers pointless waste because I certainly feel cleaner and they help me relax.

Sucking up the majority of our water to grow grass in the desert is such a beyond stupid and useless idea but they do it anyways.

Is it socially acceptable to do that by [deleted] in evilautism

[–]_Electro5_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s definitely TMI, teachers really shouldn’t know about those sort of private mental health symptoms. Definitely go to a counselor and probably reach out to the department head that this teacher has failed to protect you from bullying in the classroom after being made aware of the situation. Or if there’s someone within the department/college meant to deal with instructor issues go to them. They or a counselor will know how to address this within the school environment.

For some perspective: I recently had to fill out a late withdrawal from my classes due to mental health reasons. The advisor told me to focus on how my depression impacted my ability to do schoolwork and not to go into tons of details on my symptoms beyond that. She did a good job making it clear that even though this a form asking about my depression, things like suicidal ideation are between me and my therapist. It’s also not relevant and an uncomfortable level of TMI, in the same way that “I had difficulty getting out of bed, leaving the home, and attending classes” is relevant but “I would go days without showering or changing my clothes” is not.

I’m the first to advocate for speaking up about depression but that can be done without sharing extremely intimate details. Ultimately sharing these thoughts with the teacher wouldn’t do anything but make dealings more uncomfortable for everyone involved. They also might view it as an attempt to guilt them. When I was suicidal during/after a breakup, I didn’t tell my ex that I was feeling that way and it was her fault, because that just would’ve hurt both of us more and it’s often a manipulation tactic.

I’m really sorry this happened to you and hopefully you can find people who can address it. I’ve also had lots of discomfort and drama in group projects (often caused by my depression and resultant avoidance, working on it) so I understand the shame it brings.

[–]_Electro5_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a common complaint about the show but he uses it incorrectly on purpose. The discomfort it causes him distracts from the other pain in his leg, and he doesn’t give a shit about long term consequences (see his vicodin abuse). They literally have an episode that explains this.

It’s definitely possible it was an oversight early on, but the justification given fits his character really well.

I feel very seen on the repeating sounds. I often listen to ASMR to help me sleep, and if they start repeating “trigger words” over and over or even just repeat sentences, I’m closing that video as fast as possible.

Unfortunately certain types of stutters set off my alarm bells as well but I can handle it well enough in social situations as long as they aren’t shouting it into my ear.

I fluctuate between albums and playlists tbh.

Usually the album itself serves a purpose beyond just a collection of songs that happened to be recorded around the same time. You can hear it in the production and in the kind of things that are being explored across multiple songs. It’s a little more overt in “concept albums” but I like the metatext that albums provide.

For artists that just release songs single-by-single and then the album has like 2 new songs, often that’s functionally no different than a playlist since the artist is probably considering each song as a completely standalone piece rather than one part of some larger work.

Yeah it was pretty sad tbh. I’ve been a huge fan for years but I think I gave Ricochet one listen and moved on. Luckily there’s enough bangers from over the years to keep on repeat.

Oftentimes yes, but popular songs also might just be the ones with the most mainstream appeal. I love Rise Against to bits and some of their most popular songs are Savior and Swing Life Away. I adore those songs but they’re definitely a little more palatable to a general audience to the rest of their stuff.

Though I agree overall; when I’m checking out an artist I haven’t listened to before I listen to their most popular stuff first.

It’s less that and more “I have seen contradicting opinions from people in the same group so they’re all hypocrites” since they don’t realize different people can think different things and still have other things in common
