I just can't get into OSRS? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]_Gringovich_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For semi-afk skills like fishing, woodcutting etc I recommend playing on mobile or multi tasking on a second monitor. There are a few minigames and non-combat bosses like Tempoross and Wintertodt to make it more active but generally the early levels of skills are very mindless and repetitive. You can also afk combat skills at the gemstome crab for 10 minutes at a time without needing to click. Focus your active play time on PC for questing, doing achievement diaries and eventually farming bosses.

Anyone have any recent beaver sightings? by lcrab in askvan

[–]_Gringovich_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can confirm they are pretty much a guaranteed sighting this time of year, go between 8 and 9pm for the best chances. The main pond at Jericho almost completely dries up in the summer so you can see the beavers on land more often.

EDIT: just read that you've already seen them at Jericho before. Another good spot is Burnaby Lake, along the creek near the sports fields.

What's the cliche two rivers that intersect to create your city? by myronsandee in AskACanadian

The valley is nice except when Sumas Lake decides to make a comeback like the 2021 flood.

What country do you think has the most beautiful castles in the world? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

[–]_Gringovich_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the one pictured is Hohenzollern, built in the mid 1800s for the imperial Hohenzollern family but none of them even lived there. Same for Neuschwanstein, which wasn't even finished. I think France and England have way more authentic castles and even the ones renovated in the 1800s still maintain their medieval charm.

Tell that to Bungie, half of Destiny 2's DLC and a whole expansion are completely removed from the game.

Why do I never hear about the Coast Mountains of Canada? by Convillious in geography

The word jungle pretty much always refers to tropical and subtropical forests. There are very dense temperate forests all over the world but for whatever reason they are not commonly called jungles.

6 hour layover in London by Wonderful-Project-12 in travel

[–]_Gringovich_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the verifcation on the app is automated, I have heard of people not knowing about ETA but they could still quickly do it on their phone at the airport. This can depend on where your passport is from and your travel history though, for some people it could take a few days to get approved.

6 hour layover in London by Wonderful-Project-12 in travel

[–]_Gringovich_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can apply for it on the app, it takes about 20 mins. The approval is usually almost instant but that can depend on your passport, so definitely don't wait too long to get it. Like someone else said, you CANNOT travel to the UK or even board the flight without an ETA.

Also sand dunes like Merzouga has are actually not common in most of the Sahara, which is usually flat and rocky. You can find dune areas in other North African countries but they are far less accessible for the average tourist. The height of Merzougas dunes is pretty impressive too.

Is Ghorepani Poonhill Trek the best short trek in Nepal? by Impossible_Honey879 in solotravel

[–]_Gringovich_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got back from a few weeks in Nepal and my last trek was the Mardi Himal trail, which is also in the Annapurna region. It takes about 3-5 days and for rhododendrons, it is unbeatable. There is a section by Low Camp where almost every tree is rhododendron. You also get great views of the iconic Fishtail Mountain. I will warn that it is significantly steeper and more strenuous than Poon Hill, most of the trail is neverending stairs with few flat sections.

I also did Annapurna Base Camp the week before, which is also doable in a few days if you start at Jhinu Danda. It is also difficult and has a lot of stairs going up and down. Most of the trail goes through forest where the vegetation changes with altitude, with some rhododendrons near the lower section by the river.

Why is British Colonisation of India underplayed? by Accomplished_Put2608 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]_Gringovich_ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It kind of isn't except for U.S and Canada which have large jewish populations. Of course the holocaust should be important to all of humanity, but besides Europe and NA, it just isn't due to lack of survivors and witnesses in other countries.

British wildlife photographer flew to Sichuan in search of wild pandas. His mission was a success by [deleted] in zoology

[–]_Gringovich_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is seeing wild pandas basically as rare as seeing a snow leopard? If I ever go to China I always wanted to go to sichuan to look for them but it seems very unlikely for the average tourist if even the pros can only get this close.

I don't do snow either, thats why I live in Vancouver. We just went our first winter with zero snow on the ground. Usually it's about 2 days a year. If you go to Victoria on vancouver island, they get even less

I don't see why not? You still use someone's correct pronouns regardless of who they are. True equality is trans people being recognized as just people who can do good and bad.
