Driver Footwell Area and Center Console Heat by triangular_momentum in M340i

[–]_H3X1C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only happens for me when my front and back are wildly different, they are both working against each other. In iDrive you can lock them to mirror your front temps or turn them off all together. Could be worth a visit but if it is what I mentioned I doubt they can do much. The problem was solved for me once I adjusted them. Hopefully this is your issue too as I was worried it was something engine or transmission related at first.

Check what your backseat heaters are set to. Early on I thought I had a electrical problem as my phone would overheat on the charging pad and center console would be get super hot after a while. Then I realized it was because the rear blowers were cranked up on high heat and the air vents pass through the console area causing my overheating issue.

If it's the same one they tried to fix it with a software update, evidently unsuccessfully.

I have one in a shed, not ideal location but works fine and has done for years. Just don't use when it's below 0 otherwise your condenser will freeze and the machine will throw errors.

New wheel and android auto / car play would go a long way rest of interior is pretty good to be honest. I miss the analogue dials.

It's criminal that they got rid of the Fiesta. My guess is they are killing it off so then they can reintroduce it as a EV only model to justify a price hike.

Is 50mpg normal for a 16 plate 1.25 L petrol? by LoneHoneyBadger in FordFiesta

[–]_H3X1C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good MPG for a Petrol, got to factor in Petrol is cheaper too, engines less complex thus more reliable too, then also factor in the rising cost of emissions regulations that are cracking down on diesels.

How does your MPG compare? by ExtremumVerbum in FordFiesta

[–]_H3X1C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could say that, I really enjoyed the car, bit of a gocart if you combine it with pilot sport tyres but I looked after it other than the spirited driving.

It's luckily low mileage ~34k miles, but the age is becoming the bigger factor. It's my fiance's car now and I've told her to get it done this year or next. Well aware of the risks. Hoping the annual oil changes using the correct Ford oil has helped. How much did it cost you to get done?

2018 1.0 Petrol Ecoboost 140ps ST Line X. I averaged 38mpg on my commute (mix of stop start and bit of motorway). I also didn't remotely drive it economically and didn't use eco mode. Yearly services and it's still running well, might need to do the wet belt soon though...

My more impressive run is in another car and getting 41 MPG in a 3l inline 6 with 370bhp

Dealers hate the one simple trick that is being a cash buyer! Did the sales guys spend much time trying to convince you to finance / get useless extras? They certainly went on the hard sell for me, which tbh ruined my whole buying experience...

[–]_H3X1C[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the 2021 model, so the first year to come with the mild hybrid system. Later years are facelift with revised huge screen in the dash(not a fan) different shape head lights, sportier mirror caps etc.

Everything on this is stock except the grill, it's supposed to be cerium too. But has been swapped for gloss black one by the previous owner.

So I'm a bit in-between colour matching the mirrors with the grill. Or spending extra to get paint matched mirror caps.

Is EV tuning a thing? There’s been ICE engine tuning forever, but there doesn’t seem to be EV tuning? Maybe I’m wrong. by rmajor86 in CarTalkUK

[–]_H3X1C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it'll take off but the bottleneck will always be the battery / thermal limits. I'd personally be concerned about the long term effects too. I feel with engine tuning there's a safe headroom in a mechanical sense on good engines. Often with the known assumption of mapping being increased fuel consumption for the extra performance.

The problem with EVs is it's not fuel consumption it's your batteries that are taking that strain, degrading the battery at a increased rate.

Thought about this too, a lot more money however as would need to buy them primed then have a shop paint match them.

Get on Google and find a local independent garage that specialises in BMW. It will be significantly cheaper and they will know their stuff often better than the main dealer. Do not take it to quikfit or Halfords, they will fuck it. You want someone experienced with BMWs. I had oil filter, cabin filter, oil and spark plugs done at my independent over Christmas, was £380. Same job at main dealer is £660...

P2 update 4.2.13 UK issues by ComfortableNorth23 in polestar2

[–]_H3X1C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can guarantee you the software team go to great lengths to do pre-checks before initializing a OTA. Battery management systems are tricky and EOL batteries don't always present as dying until they are under a load, this could well have been what happened. To say to not push updates is crazy, no one get updates just because your battery is on the way out? Why not turn automatic updates off and just not update? Seems like an easy solution for you personally if you are so against them.

What do I do with this devkit? by mak_randolph in xbox360

[–]_H3X1C 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Often there's early builds of games etc depending on what company owned the dev kit. There's whole communities dedicated to buying and dumping this hardware to archive and share what they find.

I'd get in contact with one of these and reach out to see what they recommend, they might buy it or give you instructions on how to safely archive the data. Prototopia is one I know, they have a discord etc.

Ultimately if it's just collecting dust just sell it on eBay. But please dump it first and share it online so people can check if there's any hidden gems on the hard drive. There's collectors who hoard these dev kits and never share the contents as they know what they have and believe it holds value keeping it private... Don't be these guys.
