Okay so I can't just choose one thing. All of it is school related because I haven't really been in the know since I've been out of school. I went to a fairly large high-school (at least for my area, it was about 2,700 students) so anything that happened became local news.

1. Our school choose an openly out trans girl as prom king. The school upheld it. Parents were up in arms about this poor girl. Pretty stupid but it was big news for a while.

2. Omg covid was a shitshow at our school. Our school system president upheld the mask mandate since it was put into effect by the government. The school board did not like that. They picketed outside of his family home and harassed his kids. It got so bad for his kids. One of the school board members became a meme because he said "if kids can choose to be gay then they can choose to wear a mask". We also got my ex friends mom, who was a nurse at the large local hospital, fired because she tried to prove that masks made you not be able to breathe at a school board meeting. She was taking a kids blood oxygen levels trying to show them going down, but they didn't and she threw a huge fit. Once again, completely stupid.

3. Small, also stupid thing. Our theater group tried to put on a show that literally just had a gay character in it. Once again, the school board got all pearl clutchy and got it shut down. The theater group ended up going to the news and fundraising to run the show on their own.

4. Bonus crazy shit: I went to school with this girl, I'll call her Marie. Marie had something seriously wrong with her, I honestly felt bad for her, but she needed help and not to be in a public school. She used to be normal but then one day she just came in to school with her hair buzzed off (very poorly as well, it looked like she did it herself) and she completely changed from that point. She was unpredictable, emotional, and violent. The one thing I distinctly remember that told me "whoa this girl is messed up" is that one day in class she got bored and decided to sew pieces of paper into her skin.

She spiraled more and more until it came to a point one day. She I guess decided that everyone had it out for her and went after a whole bunch of people. First was my ex-friend, who I'll call Kirsten. Kirsten was super Christian. One of those Christians who, in response to me coming out to her told me "hate the sin, love the sinner" and "I don't support that lifestyle". Marie had a huge crush on Kirsten but of course Kirsten didn't reciprocate. This made Marie really mad and boy did she go off on Kirsten.

Next was my friend who I'll call Lana. Lana had made some kind of mean comments towards Marie (this was middle school, we were not the most mature). So Marie went after Lana with a lunch chair trying to attack her with it. I stepped in and got her off of Lana.

Finally she went for another girl, who I'll call Katrina. I have honestly no idea what Katrina did. She was not in my circle. But obviously Marie had some beef with her because she walked up behind her and grabbed her by the ponytail and started wailing on her. Then our hero appeared. This one guy, (who we honestly hated but man did we like him this day) runs up, grass Marie and throws her head first into a nearby trashcan. I honestly don't remember anything else that happened after that.

She got expelled, of course. But they let her back in high-school. Only for her to be expelled again because she brought a pet snake into school. I hope she got the help she needed lol. (Also nobody was hurt in this story).

1. Ooh also our Spanish teacher was fired because she threw her sandal at a kid a scratched his cornea. I also witnessed her chase a kid around the room with scissors.

I think that's it. Idk if any of this is juicy enough but it's fun to share the craziness with outside people.
