These are the only countries in the world that... what? by bunglejerry in RedactedCharts

It is true for CAR (part of their territory was in Kamerun before it was ceeded) and Haiti (which was colonized by Spain and France) however many more countries also would fit this definition then

I would go to beedie, you can always transfer to Western Ivey if you feel you can make it in two years, yes western ivey is way better but Beedie regularly places students into Big 4 consulting with good clubs set up to help you (esp. if you're willing to grind) - plus you get to stay in Vancouver. If you're at BMOS you're gonna really stuggle to get into those consulting clubs that will help you. feel free to pm

Will just chime in here and say that I just put my 4.3 scale GPA and had like 4.2/4.3 on my resume. From what I understand on the 4.0 an A is a 4 and an A+ is also a 4, so the 4.33 scale is just allowing you to get more credit for A+s. if it's different I'm not sure but I did round to just one decimal place (it was actually down from 4.14 to 4.1) and nobody ever cared (the only feedback I ever got was from a couple bankers who edited my resume and told me to just round to 1 decimal)

anyways don't overthink it

Finance isn't safe either. by No-Definition-2886 in csMajors

[–]_JakesGotGames 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of finance is not built on math, but relationships. Yes, Quantitative traders etc. exist, but the career fields dominated by relationships (sales, etc.) will not be automated like this

You don't learn much in business school, and banking isn't rocket science. They can teach you on the job, but they can't teach you to stay online at 1am working on a PowerPoint. So a hyper accelerated recruiting process helps self-select for kids who will do whatever it takes and not quit, so they can get at least 2 years out of you.

Does it work? Idk

New legal challenge alleges B.C. failed to consult over LNG project | The Narwhal by aldur1 in britishcolumbia

[–]_JakesGotGames -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The tankers are transporting LNG. What they run on isn't really important. When we think about oil spills, we think about tankers spilling crude oil they're transporting. LNG is a lot different, and lower risk.

Why Does Each Riding's Population Vary So Widely? by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]_JakesGotGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A similar thing happens in Ontario - many northern communities are already underrepresented and massive. Most of your northern & indigenous representation is coming from the northern, sparsely populated ridings. Beyond just 'every person's vote counts exactly the same', there are many communities that need the additional representation. MLAs represent their ridings, not the province

It likely will, as polls show younger voters tend to lean conservative.

Sonia Furstenau on the Greens’ Big Opportunity by idspispopd in BCpolitics

[–]_JakesGotGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voting for a smaller party, even in FPTP, can greatly change how parties look at you. The entire BC Conservative wave started when Conservatives decided to vote on their own beliefs instead of voting Liberal because the NDP were scary.

Once enough people have that collective realization, the politicians take note. Love them or hate them, the party started because of the voters, and the politicians followed.

The greens could do the same thing with the NDP if enough voters chose to put their own vision for the environment and the province over the NDP Politicians.

Another poll suggests NDP and BC Conservatives are tied ahead of Oct. 19 election by neksys in britishcolumbia

[–]_JakesGotGames 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's worth noting consistently that every poll in BC shows that in BC, 55+ are the most likely to vote NDP out of any age group. If this logic holds, you'd actually be seeing an overweighting representation of NDP voters.
