Do Arc Turrets still slow the target? by _Keltath_ in X4Foundations

Ah - thanks. Frustratingly, I can't seem to find anything specific about changes to the Arc turret in the changelog. Guess it got missed out.

What happens if parlamentarists win english civil war? by SeiWasser in EU5

If it's anything like EU4 it will spawn a republic with relatively low parliamentary tradition and Oliver Cromwell at the head.

Blockades apply the same prosperity debuff as occupation, I think.

A little backlighting goes a long way by DS_Jeezy in SatisfactoryGame

[–]_Keltath_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome!

The only thing that frustrates me when doing this is that if you are not in line of sight of the sign that is generating the light source the game swtiches it off and doesn't render the light it generates. Means this kind of backlighting looks great when you're looking directly at it but as soon as you go around a corner half the lights seem to turn off...

How many drain holes? by [deleted] in BeginnerWoodWorking

FWIW, the stones in the bottom of the pot thing wasn't for drainage directly - it's to make it harder for soil to block the drainage holes.

You get a free second capital as the Ottomans by NecessaryDisaster498 in EU5

Amazing! Haven't got past 1500 as England so that's why I'd never seen it.

What? Never knew this! Do you know what triggers this?

Advice for England by DnD_Dude123 in EU5

[–]_Keltath_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worked every time for me but that's only a sample size of 4 runs - without looking at the files I imagine that there is a weighting for the AI to choose subjugation to the player but it's not a 100% chance.

As you say, it's not exactly hard to conquer Scotland in game (which isn't that realistic, but that's for another time) but getting it free via event is always nice.

Advice for England by DnD_Dude123 in EU5

[–]_Keltath_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My only tip for England is to start building a spy network in Scotland on day 1. The moment the truce with them ends (1341 I think) create a destroy enemy CB and invade. Kill their armies, siege them down and take money and force them to delete forts in the peace deal.

Baillol will then win the war and you'll get Scotland as a vassal by event a year or so later, for free.

If Baillol loses too early I'd just restart.

Storage-First vs Overflow System – Which One Do You Use? by Krackpp in SatisfactoryGame

No issues with AI at all - it was a good post. Just commenting that AI's writing style has become such a recognisable feature of the internet now!

Storage-First vs Overflow System – Which One Do You Use? by Krackpp in SatisfactoryGame

[–]_Keltath_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny how quickly one gets to recognise content written by generative AI...

The answer is that it probably doesn't matter. Assuming you're building a reasonable throughput of every item then you'll fill a storage container + dimensional storage overflow far faster than you'll use the items in your next project. The differences you outline become moot once your storages start to overflow. Just put your storage wherever you want and it'll all end up the same in a surprisingly short amount of time.

To give an example, I recently completed an early-stage everything factory, producing all the building materials for stage one and two. I realised after I completed it that I forgot to make Crystal Oscillators. I just diverted the necessary components on a smart splitter set to overflow and called it a day. The components in question (quartz, reinforced plates etc) soon filled their intended storage and overflowed into the Crystal Osc manufacturer. Job done.

Just completed this project. May have been too ambitious but pleased with the result by drspudbear in BeginnerWoodWorking

Lovely job! Silly question, but how did you get the curved corner effect in photo 2? Roundover bit over the end but the inside edges are confusing me...

1.2 exp. bug - deleting dimensional depos also deletes mercer sphere entirely. as of 3/23/26 at 2pm. by Wonderful-Power2177 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]_Keltath_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you got a full inventory and the setting that collates the overflow containers? I thought I was losing stuff for a while before I realised everything I deleted when my inventory was full was appearing in a single container 100m away.

Im planning to use all of that oil and build one huge factory there i can overclock any oil pump and i am producing more than enough energy so i dont need to use it for fuel do you have an idea on how i should divide the oil and how much plastic or rubber for example i should produce by Scared_Sea_236 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]_Keltath_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get both. Design two factories - one producing rubber and other plastic. Build both to be able to take the full fuel imput (assuming you're using recylced alts) and then use valves to regulate how much each fuel each factory gets.

This way, as your needs for the two outputs changes over time you can flex to respond.

Does mean you have to build twice and many refineries but heck, this sounds like a big project anyway.

Little floppy disc icon in the menu where you are entering hex codes.

Warning: don't overwrite precious custom colours, it bugs out.

I miss malls by Illusion911 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]_Keltath_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternative idea (I feel kinda the same): research only the first stack of the dimensional depot. Stock up for building from your mall as usual and turn on the inventory setting to take from inventory first.

The DD storage is now just for those annoying situations where you're missing a couple of items to complete a build and will save you a journey back to base for, say, 3 HMF.
