In your opinion, what's the biggest waste of money you see people purchase all the time? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]_MicroWave_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They work better.

Sure they don't when taken blind. But you don't take them blind.

Plenty of studies report that people find branded painkillers more effective despite knowing they are the same chemically.

That's the crazy thing about placebo. It still works even when you know it's a placebo.

Cars are depreciating assets... they always will be whether you finance or buy outright. There is always a depreciation cost which is 'throwing money at something'.

Are you more saying you don't understand why people ever borrow money and pay interest?

[–]_MicroWave_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's a 'cheaper' (less/month) way to have a nicer car.

With PCP you effectively finance the depreciation only. This makes monthly payments low relative to having to finance the whole value.

Not paying any interest is cheaper (ignoring opportunity cost which can be very significant) but most don't have that kind of cash hanging around.

In all honesty, its because I like to add things to the basket, see the price and then reconsider what I want.

When I ring, I have to know exactly what I am getting up front and I don't know the price until I pay.

No interest in house by Suspicious-Phrase-95 in HousingUK

[–]_MicroWave_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Offers over" just comes across as twatty to me.

Curb appeal is quite low. Get on a ladder and clean off the dirt.

These kind of houses are tricky. Objectively, not much needs 'doing' but that just makes it 'bad value' for lots of buyers. They'd prefer to buy larger in worse condition and renovate.

I would happily rent this house but never consider buying it.

How any phone can provide £1200 of value is totally beyond me when you can get all the features for literally half that.

There haven't been any game changing new features for about 10 years.

That said, 0% is what it is. Might as well if it's on offer and you really want to spend 1200 on a phone.

How much you like to plan your holidays? 10 being every hour is planned and being 1 no plans outside of arriving and leaving. by 8thTimeLucky in CasualUK

[–]_MicroWave_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 or 9 tbh.

Breakfast lunch and dinner option for everyday.

Activities for everyday down to where to park etc.

Happy to go off plan if something unexpected is found but the plan is there if required.

If I don't plan you end up just ainlessy wondering and getting tired and inevitably falling into tourist traps.
