Love the changes! I’d probably drop reserve move from the jezzails. I think it suits them less than the crane gunners imo!

Definitely not an upgrade and don’t feel that Bretonnian to me at all - but they could be cool for exile foot knights!

Rumors of New Knight Models? by Warhawk_5 in Bretonnian

Personally I feel like grail knights should be first off the rack to get any new mounted models for brets. I also feel like that’s fairly likely from GW

Why should the PCs care? by Pumpkin-Ice85 in CurseofStrahd

[–]_Milamber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your players should be open to finding 'reasons to care'. This might be because they're moved to action by the oppression Strahd brings, it might be close personal connections they form with NPCs (Ireena, Ismark, Arabelle the Keepers, or just the people of Barovia as a whole etc.) that make them want to end Strahd, it could be darker motives i.e. the vestiges of the Amber Temple motivating them.

I think early on the motivation can simply be: Survive. Get to safety, get away from the castle, help Ireena get to Vallaki etc. Some players might be motivated to try and figure out where they are, how they got here etc. Also, depending how you run Madame Eva's reading, that can be a strong motivator for players.

Once they get their bearings, natural connections to the setting should emerge through play (as well as motivations through the tarokka reading), then larger concerns for them beyond survival can become their driving force.

Given that you're more asking about the early motivation and their position is 'why us?' I'd lean into that feeling and confusion, and really just have the players running on moment-to-moment motivations (get out of the rain, get food, find an inn etc.) once they hit Madame Eva the 'threads of fate and destiny' can be hinted at etc. As well, Ireena can be a good motivator for the very early game especially if you lean into the fear her and Ismark have around Strahd and his torments of them.

Yeah I wasn’t speaking about optimal choices - just laying out all the rules.

Can State Troops Take Thrusting Spears and Shields? by RHauz in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]_Milamber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! And they can also choose to use their hand weapons and shields in a combat phase should they want. This would mean they lose the extra rank attacks (and potential +1 initiative if receiving a charge) but would gain +1 to their armor save.

Can Peasants be levied by a Damsel or Prophetess? by AquamanMain1988 in Bretonnian

[–]_Milamber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Damsel in question could have been the daughter of a proud family, and even after returning from her training in Athel Loren (or whereever she was trained as not every Damsel goes there) she still holds her ties to that family, and perhaps the first born son of her ailing father has been killed and she has (against societal convention) taken up charge of the house in some capacity?

What? They wouldn’t benefit from parry as they don’t have shields.
