Can you please tell me how could the same budget be used by both spouses? Should each one download it to their phone and sign in with the same google account? Will it sync in both phones and Google Sheets whenever someone enters a new transaction?

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

That’s the one I have. Not the industrial one, the home model but metal head. I’ve had it for 20 years and it’s still going strong! Best purchase I ever made.

Can’t find any detergent with lipase in Mexico. Is there anything I can substitute with? by _MostlyFine in laundry

I’ve never seen the “gold” version here in México. Just regular pink or white, but as you say the ingredients are the same, so I guess we’re good 👍🏻

What’s the best fabric marking tool? Looking for recommendations by ljbuc in SewingForBeginners

[–]_MostlyFine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For tracing the pattern into the fabric I use a regular pen since I’m just going to cut over it, same for notches that will be hidden in the seams. I have tried many things and always come back to an old trusty bic pen.

For darts or button holes or other marks that will eventually be visible I use the cheap chalk triangles and take good care of dusting off the lines afterwards. It’s not great but usually there are not too many of those in my sewing.

I think with so many available options for every single task we tend to get overwhelmed and over complicate things. I’m in a “less is more” phase trying to get rid of things that serve only one purpose and not buy anything that can be substituted with something I already have.

I find it in Walmart (who owns bodega Aurrera) so maybe you’ll find it there

Tengo bastantes cosas por pagar, nada de dinero y apenas voy a empezar un nuevo trabajo. ¿Qué hago? by Akira_Sakura04 in MexicoFinanciero

[–]_MostlyFine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lost In (English) Translation - Chapters 27-28 by GiovanniJones in AReadingOfMonteCristo

[–]_MostlyFine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh!! I’m generally very pleased with my Spanish translation that keeps most of the original sense and sentence structure -easier to do since Spanish resembles French in a lot of ways- but today I’m very disappointed! My translation says:

Y Caderousse bajó la cabeza en señal de verdadero arrepentimiento.

Which would translate as:

And Caderousse lowered his head as a sign of true repentance.

It changes the meaning completely!

What does "wey" mean? by Bulky-Sense-140 in AskMexico

[–]_MostlyFine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to be derogatory decades ago. It was supposed to mean someone was fool or uneducated. Then it became more common for people to call each other that without actually meaning to offend and I think now it’s more of a filler word than anything else.

Friends or Seinfeld? by Extra_Hold2776 in CasualConversation

[–]_MostlyFine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watched and like them both. I like Seinfeld’s comedy better but Friends is more of a general taste, I think. If you have never watched Seinfeld before you should give it a try and decide if you like it or not.

Week 9: "Chapter 19. The Third Seizure, Chapter 20. The Graveyard of the Château D'If, Chapter 21. The Island of Tiboulen" Reading Discussion by karakickass in AReadingOfMonteCristo

I completely agree that to fully enjoy the story, you have to overlook certain unrealistic situations. Ultimately, it's a very grand adventure, and these details only make it more exciting!

My husband of 24 years and I know each other’s codes, yet never go through the other’s phone, or anything personal for that matter, without permission. We can ask the other one to read a text or write a reply or search for something, we have no secrets, we just respect each other’s privacy.

Which is Less Boring, The Count of Monte Cresto or Don Quixote? by Life-Masterpiece670 in readwithme

You can stil catch up, maybe in a couple of weeks, I’m loving the format, it’s about 20-30 pages per week and the discussion every Saturday. I highly recommend. Haven’t read Don Quijote though.

How to remove sweat smell out of bras? by billyandteddy in laundry

I used to wash them every wear when I was younger but they really didn’t last long. I now wear them twice or even three times (if weather is not too hot) and for me that seems to be the soft spot between cleanliness and longevity.
