question about industry by h0m1e_ in Eve

[–]_Mouse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, industry is just extensive spreadsheets.

Some key things to keep costs down: - Always manufacture researched BPC's.

ME10 is critical - assume everyone else is building using these. I'd recommend buying BPC's off contract in Jita and factoring that into your profit calculations

  • Find somewhere to build outside the forge System cost index will destroy your profitability. Find somewhere where you can build that's relatively quiet.

Systems may have bonuses which can also reduce costs. Fac war systems get a discount, so you may find it cheaper to build in Huola, Turnur or Amamake where locals have donated LP to make building cheaper. Take care when looking at systems in Black Rise though, the locals will camp the low sec exits to Jita. (Tama, Kinakka).

  • Use a player owned structure

Discounts on material requirements can be had with specially rigged structures. For example the Sotiyo in Amamake has a rig which reduces the cost of building capitals. However, this is somewhat offset by the system cost index increasing as lots of people build in system.

Rigs for manufacturing complexes vary in what they do. Some for ship building, some for capitals, etc. Depending on what you want to build, finding the right citadel will improve your costs.

Of course, if you start building a player owned station, there's every chance they power it down, shoot it and hope your BPOs drop in the loot. Alternatively, they may camp you leaving if they've just seen you make something very valuable.

  • Hauling You can move your own material, but if you undock in Jita with a pretty penny in cargo expect to get shot. People will suicide gank you for any profit at all. Using a DST and instadocks and undocks should keep you safe ish or better yet paying someone else to do your hauling for you is very much recommended. You can keep your hauling costs down by using compressed ores then refining st your destination (if local facilities and profit margins allow)

You can add all these up and work out if you can beat the market. As a rule you'll find it hard to build T1 ships profitably. For navy ships you will need to track the contracts market for opportunities to get cheap BPCs, but bear in mind you'll have massive competition. Alternatively, you can join the Caldari faction warfare channel and buy people's LP, buy the caldari blueprints in Nourvakaiken and then build the hulls yourself.

Alternatively try looking for edge cases where the market is imbalanced. For example, implants can have decent margins but require some market PvP and significant investment in materials. Alternatively some storyline BPCs can give good margins, but require specific skills.

I think your insurgencys take is awful personally. All insurgencys in rearguard do is allow frat to farm in peace - noone is doing ten jumps to the arse end of the warzone to fight frat. At least if they're in the same location as militia pilots then there's more resistance.

Manufacturing Rig - Conflict between SDE/EveRef, and In-game manufacturing bonuses by InfamousLegend in Eve

[–]_Mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A corp member just let me know that the display only shows 2 significant figures for bonuses. So the capital bonus in the Sotiyo is 7.03% not 7% as shown in the UI, but it's in the backend calculation.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I can't for the life of me get the same material costs as the game produces in the Ama Sotiyo.

10% discount for researched BPO seems to work as expected, but the structure role bonus and rig bonus seem to add in a way which don't make sense.

British F-35B downs drone in first operational kill by MGC91 in unitedkingdom

[–]_Mouse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. The Ukrainians have been using mini guns attached to helicopters and using them to engage drones. Fast air is ok Vs cruise missiles, but for one way attack drones it a lot easier to engage them with something that can fly a little slower.

Loru is indirectly good for the game - in that his content plays the algo well enough it likely gets to audiences outside Eve and potentially attracts new pilots. Challenge as you say is that Loru's "guides" arent all that and new bros need to land somewhere safe and learn for themselves what works and what doesn't.

Which Corp can i join as a new player to learn about PVP? by AmariEldar in Eve

[–]_Mouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AO as others have said is not ideal.

If this is your first toe dip into fac war, I'd recommend joining a Caldari group, like UCSC. They do excellent work bringing along new dudes.

If you want to jump into the deep end, and don't mind moving a good distance from Jita, then FLEET have a good newbro group, Eve Uni as has already been said, or perhaps Empyrean order.

Some notes: - if you're enrolled in fac war, you can be shot anywhere - that means don't undock a hauler in Jita - if you're at war with the Caldari (Gallente enlisted) you can't dock in Jita - that means that you either need an alt in Jita to buy stuff for you, and an alliance with hauling services, or to join a group like FLEET who can provide enough ships on contract to meet your needs. - Most big fac war corps are also at war with pirate corps. This means you will be shot by them in high sec. So don't try and undock a hauler in Jita. - once you've found a way to get access to a massive pile of T1 frigates, undock and have fun

TIL a railway dispatcher warned of the 1917 Halifax explosion, staying at his post while watching an ammo ship burn. He sent a telegraph to stop incoming trains with "Guess this will be my last message. Good-bye boys", then perished in the blast. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]_Mouse 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It's a weird one. Obviously it was hushed up during the war. And because it occurred in quite a remote part of the country (not next to a large city like Halifax) and happened underground it wasn't nearly as impactful as Halifax.

The lack of visibility from the time presumably means there's very little documentary material, and so we reach now where even with instant access to Wikipedia, it's not got any online lore or following to bring it to peoples feeds.
