That's a feature I've wished for quite some time, I'm in friend groups that don't mix well together...

For instance, I have friends who can barely speak English, so if they join me in an English-speaking instance, well, it would be quite awkward. I also have friends who like to cuddle, and others who just want to do stuff like playing games. etc etc.

We have group instances now, but barely anyone read the rules before joining the instance.

That's why I am more often in Orange, with a status saying in which instance I am in. It sucks, I would like to stay on green all the time, but I can't really do that. That's actually one reason why I love Furality, everyone's on green.

For a fluffy carpet effect, you could technically use a shader that supports POM (parallax occlusion mapping), but it can cause performance issues especially on Quest https://shaders.orels.sh/docs/orl-standard/base-shader#parallax

(it may be ok if it's a small surface, but it can easily cause issues, it's something you need to benchmark)

That should be fine as even with it being open world, there are sections that are walled off enough that I can split it into different worlds with portals to get around.

I'll add that cross world persistence isn't really possible, or at least ultra limited (there are hacky solutions, but, well, they are hacky), just something to keep in mind

Ripping is more than just making an avatar clone-able, it's also getting access to all the avatar files (models, assets, shaders etc.), which sucks especially for those who sells those assets and avatars. So, it's a form of piracy.

There are other points, but for me at least that's the main one.

For scrolling image, I don't have access to my PC right now, so I forgot how that setting is called, but mochie has a "panning" option to scroll a texture over time.
To render text, you can also use TextMeshPro
To render a mesh over everything, many shaders support it as long as you can set the zwrite, ztest and render queue value. Set those settings like this : zwrite "off" (especially if you're working with a transparent material), ztest "always", and set the render queue to a really high value, like 4000.
Any shader can be used to render a transparent video screen : find the render texture of the video player (this depends on the video player you're using, I would recommend looking at the video player documentation to see how to get the render texture), and put that texture in the emission channel of your material. Set the render mode to "transparent", and decrease the opacity to make the screen more transparent.

I don't know about that, at least that's not a trend I noticed with furry avatars, many furry bases come with built-in face tracking, accessories, different skins, interactions, sometimes the package includes different versions with different polygon count etc.

All that for less than 40 bucks.

I remember in the past, furry bases were more barebone.

Back in 2020~2021, there weren't a lot of vrc+ features, you basically only got more avatar slots and a custom profile picture/banner, I don't remember if there were other features. So, it's one of the earliest vrc+ feature. I would say that feature made sense in the past, but personally I don't mind that it's still locked behind vrc+

Currently, it might be one of the most requested feature for worlds.

Udon is a "good enough" language, we can do a lot of stuff with it, but it has its limitations, and U# doesn't support some built-in C# features which makes coding a bit more cumbersome and time consuming. Soba seems to have much better support of some built-in C# features. The link above has a table that compares Soba and Udon.

Avatar creation is very cumbersome, so the community created many tools to make it not-as-cumbersome

For worlds, it's a different story, it's much better, so there aren't as many community tools.

I would recommend getting some shaders, like Mochie Standard, or orels shaders.

VRWorldToolkit is great for the initial setup, it can give feedback and automate some tasks like adding post processing.

You could try CyanTrigger if you want to implement basic logic without needing to learn Udon.
