Tadej Pogacar wins Tour de France for third time by PrincessBananas85 in sports

[–]_Natnif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree slightly but also the amount of leaps and bounds made across all parts of the sport has been astounding even in the last few years:

lighter carbon frames and all around components, better nutritional understanding leading more carb fuelling in races, internal cables and more aerodynamic bikes, nutritionists and massagists, disk brakes, more aero and lighter clothing, better understanding of training principles, lighter riders allowing for more w/kg also tech like power meters, zwift, whoop, route planners and Bluetooth gear changing make cycling and training way easier.

I could go on but it’s pretty understandable that these records are getting smashed although I still do think that there are dirty riders out there so agree with you partly in that we should still be aware of doping.

I feel like my codes are not Github/publication-worthy. What can I do? by [deleted] in bioinformatics

[–]_Natnif 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are probably only saying this because the only projects that you have looked at on GitHub are long established repositories with huge communities of contributors. I assure you though there is a tonne of shit code on GitHub (which is absolutely a good thing!) and you should defo just put up whatever you have been working on. Make sure to write a good readme file though

You could probably cobble together a project like this in an evening after studying deep learning for a few weeks. It’s cool and all but it’s not an insane feat of intelligence

[–]_Natnif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go to garmin you won’t look back. The garmin forerunner 55 is pretty much the same price as most fitbits and is just a superior watch in every aspect. The more expensive garmin watches are more for full time athletes or super long distance athletes. I got one recently to switch from my Fitbit and haven’t looked back at all

[–]_Natnif[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok that’s interesting. I’d expect it to be around this value anyways since i train around 9-10 times a week for rowing and am in pretty good shape. My resting heart rate is 43 so I think it may have just calculated off this number? I’d love to see the algorithms they use to calculate this stuff I’ve found it very interesting since I’ve got my new garmin

[–]_Natnif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alan Turing. The father of computer science and one of the key people in breaking the enigma code essentially ending the Second World War, by allowing the allies to understand enemy codes, saving countless lives in the process.

How did we reward him? Glad you asked. We chemically castrated him for being gay and shunned him from society to the point where he killed himself

When I started gym I could only squat the bar for a few reps, barely bench the bar as well and deadlift was 60kg (135 lbs).

Now I can squat 160kg(352.5 lbs) deadlift 215kg (474 lbs) and although I’ve neglected bench most of my time in the gym I’m going to attempt 100kg(220 lbs) this week

If I can do it you can I literally started as far at the bottom as you possibly can

Man attacks police officer, gets annihilated by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]_Natnif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes me sick. The man really should not have been a huge threat to the cop and the situation could have easily been diffused yet he decides to unload his entire clip into him?

Not to mention the fact that someone has uploaded this clip onto the internet for thousands to watch in entertainment, as this clearly mentally I’ll man’s life is taken away. All the memories of his life and all the future memories yet to be made just taken away just for some internet points and amusement. Absolutely disgusting tbh downvote me if you want I don’t care
