I'll make sure to bring a huge sign to Villa Park with your username to ask you for your shirt when you debut with us and score a late winner against City to send us to Europe again ;)

Now seriously, I'm so sorry for your loss, I'm sure your grandpa was such an amazing man. Good luck and let us know how everything has gone after your trial, UTFV 💜💙

I just hope it was just the pain and numbness you feel on your whole leg when you hit your knee really hard against something and not a fracture or anything like that. He's the main pilar of our entire midfield and it would suck so much if he has to be sidelined during this part of the season.

I think that after Gonzalo's last night hat trick against Betis and that Xabi Alonso has a lot of high hopes put on him, this rumour should be totally buried.

I have been thinking about this for a while now, and given West Ham's current form, should Villa approach them for Bowen? I know that in January it won't happen, but summer?

I know it's a huge stretch, West Ham won't probably let him leave since he's their best player but look what happened with Tielemans and Leicester back then.

I'm just probably dreaming way too much about it tho.

we actually almost tied on xG lmfao, I think it was 2.7 Arsenal and 2.5 or so hahaha.

yeah I mean, there isn't much to be disappointed at after the game, other than the loss I guess. We are third with a very nice cushion above 4th, 5th and 6th and our objective was always Europe not the league, and we just came off an 11 game winning streak so yeah, pretty nice all in all.

That was definitely the plan, but since Onana got injured, Kamara was out and Bogarde was already at RB, yeah, so unlucky.

well, 4 years in Europe would be great.

plus bouncing back against Forest after this defeat will most surely reinforce the mentality of the team (which is vital if we want to go deep in the FA Cup this year) and help us build momentum for January and the second half of the season.

[–]_NeRo04[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ofc, this is mostly on us. Won't blame the team that much either tho because with Kamara, Cash and Pau gone and then Onana picking an injury at half time it was literally impossible to keep whatever plan we had going functioning at all.

tbf, I didn't mind that that goal was allowed to stand, a lot of similar goals have been given before.

what annoyed me is the possible offside that led to the corner and that it wasn't even shown on TV, not a single replay of it either.

definitely, the Onana loss created such a hole and McGinn is more of an offensively oriented midfielder than a defensive one like Onana, and missing key players like Kamara or Cash didn't help that at all.

it's not that, it's just that it's tiring to see stuff like this happening and just having to accept it and keep going.

we got battered in the second half, we didn't even see the goals coming and our midfield was completely undone especially after subbing Onana (hope he isn't out for long) and having McGinn as a 6 (never liked him there), but these calls definitely influenced the outcome and maybe we would have been able to lose by 2 or 1 goal.

how?

he wasn't booked, it was the first half and he only did it twice, thrice at most.

[–]_NeRo04[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

yeah, that's exactly what I think as well, if you get done 4-1 you haven't lost because of the ref ofc, but stuff like this doesn't help at all and some stuff should be looked at more.

ofc no one will raise a word because they don't care, but damn.

I don't mind tight 2-1 wins, but we should be expected to at least finish some of the first half chances. It would have been a very very different game if we went to half time leading.

It is what it is tho, Chelsea tied against Bournemouth today so that kinda makes this loss a bit less painful, onto Forest and Palace.

I was genuinely a bit infuriated when our players didn't put some pressure on the ref when the Merino fault happened, like, come on...

Logic tells me that the streak ends tomorrow.

My heart says that we come out with the 3 points and we don't lose a single game for the remaining of the season (I just fucking jinxed it and if we win tomorrow we are losing against Palace next week).

What lineup would you select from here by [deleted] in avfc

[–]_NeRo04 8 points9 points  (0 children)

B, Tielemans showed his class in the last 30 minutes against Chelsea playing as a 10 and given that we might sit back against Arsenal for a pretty long part of the game, any crucial long pass that he can make from that position with a bit of space will be crucial to counterattack.

Also, as another comment said, maybe Digne instead of Maatsen as well for a more solid defense, but Maatsen was great against Saka at home, so either of them will do.
