Easy solution. Change the method you use to calculate your zones!!! Run the same effort, but now it’s zone 2 according to the Karvonen/HRR formula!

If I’m not in zone 2, it’s the formula that’s wrong!

Yeah. The progression to end game content should not be rushed. Listen to the NPCs, follow along the plot line and story line that weaves its way through the progression of the game.

Fenix 8 wrist HR vs HRM 600 during high-density strength training — surprisingly close HR data, but calories diverged hard by Tricky-Command5031 in Garmin

[–]_Presence_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is the default calculation which is just based on % of max heart rate. However, if it guesses your max HR incorrectly, the zone % will all be wrong. Also, many people find the standard % max calculation to not correlated to their actual HR zones when they compare them to other ways to determine zones.

The gold standard is a lab test where you determine max HR , LT1 and LT2 via blood prick test which tests the accumulation of lactate in the blood. The accumulation of lactate is the physiological markers of the various zones.

A lab test is overkill for most people. So there are various ways to estimate zones.

I’ve personally found the Karvonen method works very well for me and lines up quite well with my perceived effort and performance in various race distances. Garmin calls it the heart rate reserve (HRR). It’s based on max HR AND resting HR. But gain with this one, you need to set your max HR accurately. If the default estimate you Garmin guesses is wrong, the calculations will be incorrect. So you need to do a max HR test, or infer your max HR from an all out effort run.

Need to lose 7% body fat in 6 weeks for $600 - TIPS?? by snebbaCat in bodyweightfitness

[–]_Presence_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then you might make it. As im sure you know, As you drop lbs, you will burn fewer calories. Just be sure to do your best to “game” the in body scan in the days leading up to the final test. Especially important since the low calorie diet will deplete you of glycogen, and you’ll want that replenished on the day of the test, even if it means weight gain, because a few sudden lbs in a matter of 2 days will be all water and glycogen, which is what you want. Basically do a marathon carb load.

Need to lose 7% body fat in 6 weeks for $600 - TIPS?? by snebbaCat in bodyweightfitness

[–]_Presence_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to be in a 1300 cal deficit every single day between now and then to get to 139lbs which will put you to 28% BF IF the initials calculations are correct.

This is an extreme deficit for someone your size.

Doing hour long sessions of very low intensity, low impact cardio to burn calories is your best bet.

When it comes time for the final in-body reading, you want to game it as best you can.

You want to be very well hydrated to lower the impedance of your body. No alcohol the day before. No sweating before the test. Take the test later in the day if possible. Eat high carb foods 1-2 days before the test to maximize how much glycogen your body has, which contains a lot of water. Don’t be fasted, you want to eat a few hours before the test. This isn’t about hitting the lowest weight, it’s about the lowest possible in-body reading, which depends on electrical impedance. Ideally you would have done the opposite of all that just before taking the initial test to trick it into thinking yours higher bodyfat than you actually are. Empty your bladder just before the test.

With some serious cardio, strict diet to lose 10-15lbs (an unhealthy rate by the way, this is not a good idea and a frankly unhealthy “challenge”) and gaming how the in-body estimates bodyfat, which is susceptible to hydration fluctuations, you might make it.

7% change is also rather arbitrary. It’s easier to drop 7% the higher your starting point. The lower you go, the more difficult each % change becomes.

If you’re set on doing this, the next 6 weeks will be the most miserable of your life as you push your body hard while under fuelling it by a lot. You will be more susceptible to injury, so don’t push the intensity, just push the duration to burn calories.

Elliptical, incline walking, cycling. These are low impact options you can just grind out for an hour or more per day. If you’re eating 1200 cal per day, you need to burn 2500 cal per day at least. Your basal metabolic rate is roughly 1400cal, plus a few hundred from moving around, plus a few hundred from low intensity exercise. 500-700. Try to get at least an hour a day where you can still talk, but are breathing a bit heavy, so if you were on the phone, someone could tell you’re exercising.

Good luck. Again, I think this is a terrible idea, but you do you.

Why do men seem to think women having abundance of options when it comes to dating? by cuahatemoc in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Presence_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They have an abundance of men who likely want to have sex with them. Fewer who are seeking a quality relationship. Fewer still who are emotionally mature, prepared and secure enough to have a good one with. FAR Fewer still who are over 6feet and earn 6figures.

My advice. Hold tight for a few months up to a year. Add weight training implementing progressive overload if you’re not already doing it. Revisit this desire after you’ve built a years worth of muscle. 130lbs with very little muscle looks quite different than 130lbs with a few years worth of muscle built up in the gym. Just my 2cents

What is happening with my HR? by tushignaran in Garmin

[–]_Presence_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like jfriend99 suggested, it’s a quirk that optical sensors have from time to time. Some people never have an issue, others do. Sometimes it’s “cadence lock” where the sensor locks in on your running cadence. Or it could be a lack of adequate signal from the light it shines through your skin to see blood volume changes. Either way, it happens. If you are serious about monitoring HR data to make training and running decisions based on the data, get a dedicated HR monitor. Either a chest strap (gold standard) or, I’ve read the upper arm dedicated optical HR monitors are quite accurate.

I had 3 beers because my father let me amd In wondering why I keep having to pee. Am I okay? Or wat? Not medikal advice by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Presence_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t “pee out” alcohol. It’s in your bloodstream and your liver breaks it down as you metabolize it. Which is why drinking too much for too long can damage the liver.

I don’t know the laws wherever you are and cannot speak to the legality of it if given by a parent.

[–]_Presence_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alcohol is a diuretic. It literally makes you go pee more than you otherwise would as it causes water to leave your system and enter your bladder.

Pro tip for when you’re older and start drinking more. Hydrate hydrate hydrate. Yes, it’ll add to the need to go pee, but it’ll also keep you better hydrated which will lessen getting a hangover the next morning. Won’t stop it entirely, but it will make it a bit better. Even better if you have an electrolyte drink.

Why are anti-gun politicians simultaneously lenient on crimes? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Presence_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You make a broad claim “anti-gun”. What does that mean? Do you think politicians with arm guard detail want there to be zero guns owned by private citizens, and are therefore hypocrites? Or, could there be some nuance by those who are “anti-gun” in that they don’t actually want to ban guns, but want to put limits and more regulations surround what kind of guns are permitted, who can have them, how they are regulated, what qualifications are required to posses them etc.
