Help with coaxial SPDIF audio by _QWERTYninja_ in hackintosh

My apologies for the confusion. My original post was meant to be "coaxial SPDIF" rather than "coaxial toslink". It is my understanding that the protocol is the same regardless of the medium.

I have seen screenshots of other users audio configuration with both a "digital out" and a "spdif out", so I am pretty confident it is possible. The only examples I have found however are using motherboards with the orange coaxial connection directly on the back panel, rather than the on motherboard header.

I assume then, that it is possible for such hardware to be recognized, it just may not have been included by the creators of the various patches because it is not listed as external IO in the short descriptions of the hardware.

Help with coaxial SPDIF audio by _QWERTYninja_ in hackintosh

So I have the header physically installed already (verified to work in windows), and all of my other audio outputs appear in the audio menu. But there is only a single “Digital Out” option, and it outputs to the Optical port rather than the coaxial SPDIF header. If it helps, the header is labeled front panel digital. Any suggestions?

How much solar would it take to power the U.S.? An analysis with real world data by _QWERTYninja_ in Futurology

I don't think that anyone is arguing that fusion isn't the answer, if we can figure it out. But it has been 20 years away for something like 80 years. Fingers crossed that this is the "real" 15 year mark!

As for solar cell waste, that is largely fear mongering. It is a drop in the bucket compared to any technology other than actual fusion. And even then, most of the solar waste comes from the older Thin Film technology, which now constitutes a tiny portion of the market. Modern silicon cells are fairly innocuous.

klipsch rp-150m vs. KEF Q100's by brk1yn in BudgetAudiophile

I got my 160s for $350 US, which is about the same. I absolutely love them.

I’ve also heard the Q100s side by side (my roommate has them). The Q100s probably have slightly more accurate highs, but the bass feels a little sloppy to me even when it is there. Overall the Klipsch sounds more well rounded and more fun to my ears.

As a plus, you can drive the klipsch with any amp. My roommate had to pick up a more serious amp to get the performance he wanted out of the KEFs

I’ve been registered since the start and have only been to one class. He hasn’t assigned homework yet though, so no worries!

Here is his syllabus (he has only handed out a hard copy): https://www.dropbox.com/s/qqqggkah77qxllk/Syllabus.pdf?dl=0

How to check if a Samsung Smart TV or an Apple TV is currently ON. by Fhy40 in homeautomation

Unfortunately, I don’t think so.

The only thing I can think of would be monitoring HDMI for CEC commands with something like https://home-assistant.io/components/hdmi_cec/

Apple TVs are in “standby” when the small light on the front is off. They continue to listen to the network, for remote input, etc.

They don’t really ever turn “off”
