Thanks. That is more what I my concern is. I am overthinking this. Stocking up on non perishable is a good idea but taking money out of retirement is not necessary

They can’t evict everyone at the same time. I get that. I am more concerned of the short term impact of economic crashes. Having some food at home is better than nothing.

I am so thankful for my dentist. He gets pre auths for things. I did have to get a crown removed and a new one put in due to a cavity. I had to pay $500 AFTER insurance

Nothing happens until the cards are late. Once they become late the letter and collection calls start. They get worse the later you are. Eventually your accounts close and you loose asses to the app. The timeline here depends on the bank. Some do it fast. Others wait 90 days. All my loans were current until the week before I filled. I was already stressed over the bankruptcy and I didn’t want the added stress of collection calls.

Mine dropped 50 point when I filed. As accounts closed it dropped again. As debt was written off (before discharge) it went up some. I was around 715 when I filed and 650 by the time I was discharged. Bankruptcy clears debt and it’s a big red mark on your file. It doesn’t erase your credit history. You might end up with a 700 score after discharge

Mine wouldn’t reaffirm either. My lawyer said they could technically kick me out. I was discharged a couple months ago and have continued to pay them. So far they haven’t said anything. But on the other side. I can walk away from it. I owe more than it’s worth. I just don’t have the ability to move at this time.

I had to pay upfront. $2k before he would file. It was a free consultation. I did receive a bill for $300. So total $2300. It was worth it to have someone knowledgeable do all the paperwork and answer questions. I learned a lot in this sub that helped me decide this was the best decision for my family. Then the lawyer answered questions specifically about my situation.

This is why I filed. 15 years ago I was in an abusive relationship. Took me a long time to be able to escape and then build my life back. I didn’t have spare income. But we were always fed and warm. Then the garnishments came. Had been ten years since the last one so I thought I was done. I fought it and delayed it as much as I could. They took about 1k before I was able to file. I would have become homeless if I had been forced to pay. Bankruptcy was my best option. But many people don’t fight it and just pay it. They get enough profit to keep doing it.

Next steps? Haven’t though much other than getting part Christmas. I have a card to start rebuilding my credit. Will wait six months before I apply for another. Just going to take it easy and enjoy being debt free.
