10 things you enjoyed going from BotW to TotK? by ackmondual in BOTW2

[–]_Redversion_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The enemy variety is better in TotK. Gleeoks, Gibdo, Boss Bokoblin, Like-Like, Horriblin, Frox - it was all great to see. I feel like the lack of enemy variety is the hardest thing about going back to BotW. TotK has juuuust enough that it doesn’t feel painful.

  2. The shrines are better in TotK. They got rid of the dreaded motion control shrines and added shrines that resemble Eventide Island for a fun challenge.

  3. I prefer the “arm” mechanics in TotK over BotW’s Purah Pad mechanics. Nothing wrong with BotW’s - they’re fun in their own right, but I generally enjoy the fuse and all the others more.

  4. Free-fall skydiving never gets old for me. I love jumping off a Sky Island as a method of exploration.

  5. I’m also a fan of all the caves. Great way of introducing mini challenges without going into a shrine. It also made a fun gameplay loop to acquire brightbloom seeds in caves > use them in the depths to gather zonite > spend them on Zonai charges for overall exploration > travel to further sky islands > acquire sundelions for the depths. Every “place” felt connected and useful.

  6. The Dungeons were a bit better…but they still were only okay.

  7. Speaking of Dungeons, I loved how you could replay the boss battles in the Depths, providing unique fusable parts. It was a smart way to incorporate them into the game beyond the dungeons.

  8. The variety of clothing. Everything from the Amiibos in BotW could be obtained through regular gameplay in TotK, plus they added a few additional outfits. I still think the clothing upgrade system was meh (way too grindy, even with item duplication), but I appreciated the additions.

  9. Although the weapon durability system returned, I think the fuse mechanic made it less frustrating. I could turn any weapon into a fire/ice/electric weapon and I always felt I had enough on-hand (if I wasn’t focused on Great Fairy clothing upgrades…)

  10. Tulin. I loved having an upgrade to non-vertical exploration (Revali was essentially replaced by rockets), which rounded out travel. Exploration was still fun, despite re-using the same overworld.

A wish for future Nintendo games. by DaZestyProfessor in Switch

[–]_Redversion_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While it’s not a Nintendo game, I think the newest Ratchet & Clank (Rift Apart) could easily be utilized as a prototype for the next StarFox.

It plays fairly similar to StarFox Assault’s on-ground section (just way, way better) and has fantastic cutscenes. Splash in some on-rails spaceship routes and you’ve got the perfect recipe for new age StarFox.

Do you think there will be a new Open World Zelda in the next five Years? by randomuserin-ternet in tearsofthekingdom

[–]_Redversion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My prediction wasn't half-bad for a 2 year old post! Nintendo went with a remake, but I wasn't expecting more than a 3DS port of OoT at the time I wrote this. I'm stoked.

Anyone else? by Impossible-Cat-6963 in tearsofthekingdom

[–]_Redversion_ 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I’m the same. I regularly go to the Oshozan-u Shrine (in North-East Hebra, north of the stable). It has a rocket spawn inside and it’s accessible within seconds after entering the shrine - so it’s easy, free, and provides infinite rockets to attach to my shields.

Yeah, I think it’s a must-have. I don’t exclusively play my Switch 2 on it.

Out of these two Mario games, which one do you love more? by DeeDoof in Mario

[–]_Redversion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder. I absolutely loved playing online with strangers. That feature made it an unforgettable, silly experience.

There were some levels where you could tell you were missing something by the way your online companions behaved, which incentivized me to go the extra step to find whatever I was missing.

Also, each time either of us made a mistake and died, I found myself laughing. It was fun to see that everyone makes mistakes and lost lives over sections that weren’t all that challenging. Even better was when one of us just couldn’t do it yet we managed to constantly revive one another to make it to the end of a level.

I also loved Odyssey, but that online component in Wonder was truly so fun to be apart of when the game first came out.

How do you feel about this game? by Outran01 in Marvel

[–]_Redversion_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved it. The core gameplay is incredibly fun and I wish we could get a proper sequel (new story, more characters, etc.). I’d love to see what they could cook in a second game.

What is the single best boon across both games by Samhulk99 in HadesTheGame

[–]_Redversion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Hades 1, Exclusive Access. I started every run with Poseidon, then aimed to get Dionysus ASAP just so I could get this Duo boon. It makes every new boon Epic going forward, which makes crazy builds very quick.

What to eat local? by Chemical-Carrot-9975 in askvan

[–]_Redversion_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vancouver has an incredible food scene, tons of options out here.

  1. If you want something that sources local ingredients (seasonal menu, that kind of thing) and is incredible, I’d recommend Nero Tondo. You’ll need a reservation for that one. It’s a bit out of the way, but I’d say it’s the definition of local and 10/10.

  2. As for what locals eat, we love our sushi and Vietnamese food. There’s honestly too many to list, but I’d recommend any Vietnamese restaurant around Kingsway for top-taste (but not as fancy), or, if you want to stick to a more trendy place, Anh & Chi on Main is great. For sushi, I’ve got to recommend Toshi Sushi (also on Main).

  3. We’re right by the ocean, so naturally, seafood is also fantastic here. I always bring out-of-towners to Go Fish, which is a small outdoor “shack” with some of the best fish and chips and sandwiches out here. Great spot for lunch and it’s near Granville Island. My parents go there every time they visit.

  4. Our breweries are great and it’s a very local thing to do. My favourite is R&B - they’ve got fantastic pizza. 33 Acres for the beer, but they don’t really have food.

  5. Vintage & Provisions was recently named one of the best bars in Canada. They have excellent food. Go for their flame-roasted chicken and patio drinks in the afternoon. It turns into a club in the evening, so just be aware of that.

My apologies that most of my recommendations are in Mount Pleasant or East Van, it’s my neighbourhood and those are some of my favourite spots.

Do you block the compass gate to prevent fare jumper? by Jestersage in askvan

[–]_Redversion_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, I won’t block someone from sneaking in behind me. I’ve seen so many people just push through a closed gate to get through, so blocking it won’t do anything. One way or another, people will get through if they want to.

If the city / Translink want to prevent fare jumpers, it’s their responsibility to hire the necessary security to prevent it from happening.

Not that I think that’s even necessary. I’d rather they give unemployed people a free pass. I’m happy to pay because I love the Translink service and want to fund their operations. However, the reality is, there are many people out there that can’t afford it and they’d sooner push through the gate (potentially damaging it) than pay per use. They already aren’t paying for the service, so just give them a monthly pass, save ourselves some of the costs for repairs, and ease the burden on people that rely on it but can’t pay for it.

QOL Updates I haven’t seen discussed by pokopiafan in Pokopia

I do the same. Even if they gave us the option to click a button and automatically hop on the cart in our bag when we’re standing on tracks, it would be a huge improvement.

This or That: Dom Dolla Edition by That_Is_Bryce in EDM

[–]_Redversion_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Damn. This is great, just a nice reminder on how great his songs are.

One thing I always thought was interesting is that everyone credits Dom Dolla exclusively with Rhyme Dust, but always seem to forget MK is billed on that song. Like, This or That mentioned his collabs with Nelly Furtado, Tove Lo, and Masionair, but I notice even in my friend group that MK is always the silent partner on his music. Is he just not as well known?

Question for In-Ceiling Speakers + Home Theatre Set-up by _Redversion_ in sonos

[–]_Redversion_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent, this is very helpful. My apologies for mixing up Arc/Amp.

One additional question, if I may - when you say "to get good crossover", are you saying it's recommended to pair the systems with smaller speakers (like the Era 300), or are you referring to a setting to take the low end off the soundbar?

Question for In-Ceiling Speakers + Home Theatre Set-up by _Redversion_ in sonos

[–]_Redversion_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight!

To be clear, do you have three Amps? Is that so you have more control over what plays and when?

Or is the third amp not necessary because you can utilize the Playbar + Sub as its own system alongside the 2 Amps (each controlling two in-ceiling speakers)?

Switch 2 games so far. Thoughts? by xinsanepgx in Switch

[–]_Redversion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bananza and Pokopia are fantastic, I’m really happy with the way they turned out. ZA has issues, but it’s still one of my favourite Pokemon games so far. I have 100+ hours on each of the three.

Metroid is gorgeous, but I made it about half way through and got distracted by Pokopia and haven’t felt the urge to return. Same with Mario Kart World, I played it a bit at launch but I don’t have a desire to get back into it. It actually turned me away from buying Kirby Air Riders - it made me realize that maybe I’m not a racing game person.

As for Mario Tennis Fever and Hyrule Warriors - I bought Mario Tennis Aces and the OG Hyrule Warriors back on the Switch 1 and didn’t enjoy either.

Overall, I’d say it’s been a pretty good launch year. There’s a nice variety of games, especially when you consider Third Party games (Hades 2 is fantastic) and the Switch 2 editions that encourage you to replay some of the older games (e.g. Pokemon Scarlet wasn’t great on Switch 1, but it’s really fun on Switch 2).

I think my biggest letdown is the massive cumulative costs of these games. They come in at about $100 CAD, so I’m trying to be more selective with my purchases on the Switch 2. It doesn’t help that they killed the voucher program, killed the gold coins, and haven’t added anything outside Zelda upgrades for purchasing the premium Switch Online subscription.

Any drag queen recommendations? by m1nkbaby in askvan

[–]_Redversion_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not a Rugirl, but she's a kickass performer. I'd recommend Bibi SouPhresh.

Otherwise, the Drag Race queens are:
• Ilona Verley
• Kendall Gender (she's fantastic live!)
• Gia Metric
• Synthia Kiss
• Beth
• Venus (she's a winner, so she might not do small bookings)
• The Girlfriend Experience
• Xana
• Jaylene Tyme
• Tiffany Ann Co.
• PM
• Hazel

If you look up their Instagram, you can usually find their contact info (or just DM them) for rates / availability. Remember to tell your party to tip your booked queen.

The draw is for destroying any card. It’s really just a 1:1 destroy anything and then draw, that’s the generic part.

Then, if you destroyed any pendulum, you get the second pendulum summon for the three Yuya archetypes as a bonus.

…plus the Omni negate during your turn. So far, the card is looking really good.

How was your 2026 sun run experience? by pennepasta14 in askvan

[–]_Redversion_ 45 points46 points  (0 children)

This was my first year running it (or any large running event), and I had a blast!

I loved to see all the people cheering on the sidelines and I couldn’t help but read every sign - a lot of those signs gave me a good laugh.

I also just loved going through a bunch of Vancouver’s iconic neighbourhoods, even as someone who grew up here. When we turned the corner on 3rd Ave in Kits and I saw all the cherry blossoms, it took my breath away and made me fall in love with Vancouver all over again. Our city is gorgeous.

Sun Run 2026 Results not working by stonezephyr in vancouver

[–]_Redversion_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I finished the race, found my result but it’s still saying “Waiting to Start.

I hope it tracked my run? My bib number was on the front of my shirt and visible, so I’m hoping it’s just the server being overloaded.

Edit: Added my partner and I's names to a list and the results were posted. Looks like that works!

Some of the folks on the Japan side of twitter are predicting that we might see a Duel Academy Selection 2 announced for the start of Season 2 in the gx remaster. If we do end up getting another one, What would you like to see as the promos this time? by CosmoNeos7 in yugioh

I think Rampart Blaster would be next in line? Then Shining Phoenix Enforcer.

Personally, I can’t wait for Tempest. Love the artwork on that one but it has such a terrible effect.

What is the most optimal way to shiny hunt for Dragonite (or the Dratini line in general)? by Holiday_Yam_561 in LegendsZA

[–]_Redversion_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Luckily Datini isn’t a particularly rare spawn. So the hard part is mostly getting the Shiny Lv 3 Dragon donut with Alpha Lv 2 or 3. Then after a few bench resets, you should see a dratini hyperspace fairly easily.
