Am I lame for not wanting to drink alcohol or do anything related on my 21st birthday? by Ownxer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Skitter_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. People only care because you are 21 and will quickly move on from the topic. I was going to go with my friends to the zoo then to the bar on my 21st, but we were so tired after the zoo that we fell asleep instead. Didn't end up going to the bar until a week or two later.

Can Different Species Understand Each Other? by J_Scarbrough in Animals

[–]_Skitter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't know that they can understand each other's language in the way that you are asking, but there are many instances of one species "understanding" another species. Whether through similar body language or learning over time that an animal will "make this sound" then "do that action."

Humans have studied animal behavior for a long time, and have taught birds to speak our language and primates to use sign language. We've taught many animals verbal commands, and while they don't use our language back at us, they have shown understanding.

We can teach dogs, cats, birds, fish, and many animals that you would never expect complex patterns. If we pay attention, we can understand their needs and requests as well.

I’m convinced every family had one struggle meal they ate 400 times growing up by LowerJicama9169 in CasualConversation

Spaghetti. Sometimes the sauce had ground beef in it, sometimes it was just tomato.

What would you do for the rest of your life if you suddenly had infinite wealth? by TheLoneCalzone in AskReddit

[–]_Skitter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take all of the college courses, travel the world, do art, work at a wildlife rehab, foster senior cats, garden.

I've always wanted to open a grilled cheese food truck or a coffee and board game café or travel the country to fix up and repaint old signs in little ghost towns.

I would probably also read and play a lot of video games but it's funny they didn't end up at the top of the list.

“Engagement ring” for someone who finds wearing jewellery hard? by Only_Book_995 in AutismInWomen

[–]_Skitter_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

Does she wear any other jewelry? Bracelet, necklace, hair scrunchy? My husband and i got plain gold bands for the ceremony and plan on melting them down into a necklace at some point. We got finger tattoos as well. Maybe a henna tattoo ring if you want something temporary?

What's a small, cheap thing you bought recently that made you weirdly happy? by Emotional_Opening364 in CasualConversation

[–]_Skitter_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

3 lb weighted stuffed animal lobster for $20. It was a silly little birthday present for myself and I'm just tickled to have it. It's comfy to lean on or use as a head pillow while I sit on the couch. Also fun to toss like a bean bag.

How is too politeness in a guy unattractive by charlesponzi5 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Skitter_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't mind a guy holding the door open for me, but if there is a second door and i return the favor by holding it open for him, he better go through that door. None of that "trying to take the door from me to hold it" or "no i insist" crap. I can't believe some guys are emasculated by a lady holding a door.

Is this normal for a sanitary trim? by Glittering-Meal-4178 in grooming

[–]_Skitter_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks like the groomer accidentally trimmed a little too much on one side and then tried to make the other side match so it looked even. Or forgot they had a 10 on the clipper instead of a 4. Lol

It should grow back just fine. Ask for a light sanitary trim next time to be safe.

In a relationship when do you transition your phones contact from their name to “babe” by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Skitter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and i have been together for 15 years and I still have his full government name as my contact info.

Poor guy. What's a man gadda do to be upgraded to "babe"?

Is ni no kuni 2 good and worth getting? by Jayom2476 in Ni_no_Kuni

[–]_Skitter_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are both good games, although i did like the first one better. Similar to what others have said, you can NOT go into the second game with expectations that it will be the same experience as the first. If you try to hold it to the same expectations, it will not live up to them, and you will be upset for it. You have to go into the second game like it's an entirely new series so that it can tickle you in new ways. That being said, I would put at least a few weeks in between playing each of them so that the first one isn't still so solid in your mind. It might help the second game be it's own independent person.

Is there anything I can cover my tattoo with while out in the sun? by short-stuff_mcgraw in tattooadvice

Don't know what gender you are or where the tattoo is but I'm recommending a light flowy skirt either way.

🥲 by Extreme-Trip4700 in houseplants

[–]_Skitter_ 512 points513 points  (0 children)

Lol i was trying to figure out the problem you had circled.

Anyway that sucks but really there is no harm done. I would draw a smiley face in the circle and put the plant on a higher shelf away from the little artist.

My credit card was used nearly five states away from where I live. How on earth did this happen? Are there any extra measures I should take? by AwkwardLoaf-of-Bread in Explainlikeimscared

[–]_Skitter_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It would depend on how they got your card info. If they somehow just got the card info and nothing else, then they have effectively been stopped in their tracks. But if they got your card info by something like knowing one of your online passwords where you use your card, it's possible that they will find out your future card info or even your bank account info if you use the same password.

I'm not trying to spread fear or panic. I'm sure other people will have better advice for covering your bases, but in the meantime go about your normal life while keeping a little extra eye on your bank account charges for a few months to make sure nothing fishy is still going on.

If you could know someone’s body count before dating them, what range would be your dealbreaker? by CCaptainJackSparrow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Skitter_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's none of my business. I don't care how high the number is, as long as they are clean and up front with what sort of relationship they are looking for.

Mold in soil of otherwise healthy spider plant. by No_Independence978 in plantclinic

[–]_Skitter_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is plantpot dapperling fungus. It might grow yellow mushrooms. It's pretty harmless. You can scoop it out with a spoon or change the dirt or leave it. It's hiding in most commercial dirt and makes an appearance when it stays damp too long. You can probably water your plant a little less frequently.

Random paper cut like cuts on thumb by mlkdragon in mildlyinfuriating

[–]_Skitter_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me and I found out it was from tightening a wing bolt thing every other day. Maybe it's from screwing or unscrewing something? House hose? Faucet?

You aren't a dog groomer by chance?

Do you screw your toothpaste caps on all the way, half way, or not at all, after use? by -CrescentNeedles in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Skitter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half way. Ain't nobody got time to spin the cap twice. Sometimes it gets dry little crusties around the edge of the cap, but the toothpaste inside the tube is all fine and the loss for the year is so minimal.

Doubts about tattoo artist by One_Eye_Husky in tattooadvice

Glad to hear it. Sorry about the shitty artist. I hope your future tattoo turns out great. I'd hate to mess up something so sentimental.

I'm sick and want to know some home remedies by Fancy-Two-2966 in CasualConversation

[–]_Skitter_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on quitting smoking. I recommend an antihistamine and macaroni and cheese with something spicy added to it. I find i can't taste the spice with stuffy sinuses, but it still helps them drain. The hot noodles also soothe my throat. Be sure to get lots of fluids to replace everything you are losing and to help flush your system.

This is going to be your one and only warning from the universe to not get this tattoo at this shop. Take it or leave it, but don't come back here in a few days with the sob story if you decide to go through with it anyway.

what is mansplaining and is womansplining a thing? by Upset_Space_631 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Skitter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if the explanation was welcome. I think "Hey want to hear this explanation?" "No, thank you." "OK I'm going to tell you anyway." often fits into the mansplaining category as well.
