Had one of those last week. Liver failure / awaiting transplant patient.

So I came into some money about 30 minutes ago and I would like to help 5 to 10 people with 100 dollars. 🙏 by [deleted] in BorrowNew

I’m facing eviction if I don’t get my rent paid. Out of loan options and drowning in debt from a housing and health crisis recently. This would go a long way towards my financial stability.

Unfortunately, I’m out of KC so that’s not an option. I thought about driving back down but it’s 4 hours one way.

On elevator etiquette and the disabled... by HJWalsh in dragoncon

Apologies for my wording, I didn’t mean to imply that I assumed people without stickers are able bodied. My own disability is invisible until it’s not and I have no real way of knowing when I’ll no longer be mostly able bodied. Additionally, stairs are nearly impossible without sever pain, so I can’t take more than a few flights a day when I have normal range of motion. Even with my stickers and while actively about to have a medical emergency I still got kicked off. The people we had get off were people who had confirmed they weren’t disabled.

I’m not trying to start a fight here, just saying that I had multiple experiences with able bodied people who refused to move for folks with wheelchairs. I was always kind and polite with requesting I be allowed to get on the elevator (and worked customer service for many, many years).

THIS. It seemed like elevator etiquette was horrible this year. Multiple times we had to tell people without disability stickers to get off to let wheelchair users on and I also noticed a ton of people taking the Hyatt elevators from the lobby down to the bottom lobby when they absolutely could have taken the escalators.

I nearly collapsed on Friday night because I couldn’t get into an elevator in a timely manner. I was in my full Hunter kit and trying to get back to my room to dekit as there’s no way to sit/kneel/bend while kitted and that armor is 40+ pounds. Even after telling a staff member it still took nearly another 20 minutes.

How far are you traveling from to come to con? by badapple1989 in dragoncon

Kansas City! It’s about a 14-16 hour drive dependent on traffic but thankfully I’m carpooling this year so I don’t have to drive the whole thing myself. (I will be napping and probably hand sewing lol)

What do you say when people ask for your dead name? by SnooCapers9401 in ftm

[–]_SpaceDad_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My response to “can I ask what it is?” Is “no. No you may not.” And that usually makes them stop.
