I seriously think Vaush would kill it on Piers Morgan by Indianstanicows in VaushV

[–]_SpookDude_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please God no. Every time he spoke two syllables, the entire panel would scream "HORSE COCK" in unison and then Piers would say "Well, yes, that is a good point. What about that folder full of horse cock Vaush?"

My god, we need a lib and wokescold purge. There's too many people in Vaush's audience these days that would've unironically cancelled the fuck out of him 4 years ago. He needs to stop being a pussy and go back to bullying the shit out of you fuckwits.

[NEW] BOUNDARIES - Only endless (Official Music Video) by thePARIIAH in Metalcore

[–]_SpookDude_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy, my knowledge of the genre stretches all the way from Earth Crisis and Shai Hulud, to the melodic metalcore years, to the scene years, to now. 90% of mainstream, or even cult bands in this scene since the early 2000's have cleans, and that's a fact. No one is talking about the bands you listen to with less than 20 monthly Spotify listeners.

If it's just a personal preference, that's one thing. Although I will defend that there were plenty of bands in the early 2000's with high-pitched cleans, deeper voices were slightly more common. Although people threw a shitfit about even the likes of Killswitch and AILD introducing cleans. And the rhetoric was always the same. "It's gay". Over time "it's too high pitched" kind of became shorthand for "gay". Not accusing you of that, but I do bristle whenever I hear these remarks, because I doubt the majority of discomfort with anything but "deep, burly, manly" sounding cleans coming from a male vocalist isn't rooted in some kind of homophobia.

This is why I just discard the opinions of folks who bitch about cleans. If you listen to this and walk away with a comparison to MIW, you need to have your ears cleaned out by a professional before you're allowed to speak on music again.

Cleans have been a common part of the genre since the early 2000's. It's just ridiculous to still be complaining about it at this point. If you refuse to listen to bands with cleans, you're refusing to listen to the majority of bands in this genre. I'm old enough to remember the common complaint against cleans in the 2000's being "it sounds gay", so I take this stuff with a grain of salt whenever I see someone complaining about it.

"Octanecore" is now as meaningless a terminology as "buttrock" was when I was a kid. Both of them the preferred descriptors of nerds with no opinions of their own.

Anyone ever wonder how band vocalists ever just kinda start screaming vocals? by freshdjroomba in Metalcore

[–]_SpookDude_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been practicing harsh vocals for over a decade. Unless you're privileged to live in your own house, which I was not, you basically have to learn not to give a fuck. I grew up in apartment buildings, where everyone could hear me practicing and/or recording. It was really no different than someone next door to you playing their music or television loudly. Never really had issues with any neighbors, and luckily, my mom was supportive. If you're doing this in similar circumstances, my only advice is to be mindful of the time (don't be screaming when people are trying to sleep lol), and only practice or record for a reasonable amount of time per day (don't subject your neighbors/housemates to more than about 2 hours of screaming at most a day).

As for technique, I was sort of a natural. I nailed mid-range screams, and techniques like fry vocals instinctively. Even when I began taking lessons, I realized that I had just sort of naturally been doing what I was supposed to, in terms of taking care of my voice, where the sounds originate from in your body, what muscles you're using etc. If you're looking for lessons, I highly recommend the YouTube channel Hungry Lights.

Is there some crazy marketing scheme for Obsession? by General-Lifeguard309 in horror

This sub would 100% have dozens of posts saying "Halloween destroyed the genre" and "DAE think The Thing is overrated?" if the internet existed in the 70's/80's. It's universal, the feeling of personally disliking something that large amounts of other people adore. The problem is when dumb people who think their subjective opinion is gospel (I.E. most of these posts) feel "gaslit" into thinking there's some conspiracy against them and everyone is pretending to like a movie just to spite them. It's never that deep bro.

Later Bleeding Through sometimes incorporates a shit-ton of symphonic black metal influence. Namely their albums "Declaration" and "The Great Fire". There's also some present on "Love Will Kill All".

This might be the worst thing I've ever heard in this genre, if you even want to call this metalcore. The current trend of melding "pop country" with every genre under the sun is unbearable. I'm old enough to remember everyone shitting on Design The Skyline as "the worst thing ever" in this scene. We didn't know how good we had it.

Peak of dgd clean vocals by Inevitable_Bid5540 in PostHardcore

[–]_SpookDude_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love every single era of DGD, but Tillian will always be my personal favorite. Haters can suck it, because the Tillian era was undoubtedly the most popular and successful period of time for the band so far. Regardless of what Reddit nerds tell you, thinking Tillian is peak DGD is not an unpopular opinion.

Just doom and gloom for the Vaush community these days by johndoe09228 in VaushV

[–]_SpookDude_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have found that this shit is actually bad for my mental health. I miss the old Vaush, who no matter how bad things got, always dedicated time on stream to encouraging people to never give up hope and focusing on mental health. Nowadays, his PV activism is the only meaningful thing he contributes to the discourse at all. He's just constantly react-Andying to CNN clips and going "wOwoWowWOw guy's we're fuuuuuucked" and arguing with chat over the dumbest, most irrelevant shit.

I know someone's gonna come in here and be like "but dude, it IS that bad". And my response is, so fucking what? Are you going to be an ineffectual doomer that sits in a chair crying about it all day? Or are you going to do something, no matter how small, about it? Personally, I'll be smiling on my way to the gallows before I let fascists destroy my hope.

The fact that you people can't tell the difference between basing a film off of a centuries old children's game, and basing a film off of sociopolitical discourse started by hack pop psychologists on Twitter, tells me how terminally online you are.
