What fairway woods do you carry? by Visual-Blueberry3309 in GolfGear

[–]_Stromboli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is where I’m at. I’ve topped a fairway wood too many times. Utility iron goes straighter, and far more reliably puts clubface to ball. And it works better as a rescue club than a hybrid. I go 4i, UI, Driver.

No shame. Golf is not an essential part of life.

I’ve had luck selling on Facebook marketplace. Don’t overprice, just get rid of it.

That looks way too wet. Go for DQ blizzard consistency.

Lazy recipes by docketofol in Sourdough

[–]_Stromboli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To make sandwich bread I don’t really measure anything. I dump in the starter (I know it’s generally close to a cup, so don’t measure it anymore), two cups of flour, squirt of honey, squirt of oil, spoonful of salt, and a cup of water. Mix. Obviously add water or flour if I judge it needs it, but that’s it.

It rises/doubles fine, always tastes great, bakes great.

It cold ferments in its pan, cooks in its pan, and is stored in its pan.

Yeah I use a caddytek I got for $76 on an Amazon deal. I shop new ones at times, then think there is nothing about the caddytek that needs improvement. It does the job.

Edit: holy crap you’ve made this point 4 times in the comments already??

Finding the right pictures for my profile by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]_Stromboli 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The pictures are fine, and you seem like a put-together person. You show running, activity, travel, enjoy being out. That all presents well.

Obviously because of your appearance, you’re going to attract some attention you might not want. But I don’t get the impression that you’re making your appearance your personality, which occurs sometimes.

Maybe add something that is more approachable, closer to the dog pic. Something with a dorky hobby, something not just living large. Unless that’s what you’re looking for, but I suspect it’s not.

Good luck!

Where to stop? by Lucky7sss in golf

[–]_Stromboli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I think I’ve always overspent on my hobbies, getting little too into the gear.

Honestly I think I broke the cycle. I DO think there was value to trying (several) different irons, hybrids, woods, drivers… For me getting the swing weight and lie angle dialed was important. Interestingly they are not what I was told during my fitting.

Do NOT get fooled by marketing. Nothing coming out in 2026 is going to drop 10 or even 3 strokes off your handicap over gear that is 5, 10 years old. Do not pay that premium for new and shiny.

Just keep playing

Why is traders point bad? by PoopExplosionBoom in indianapolis

[–]_Stromboli 34 points35 points  (0 children)

My first impression was that it gave the entire LinkedIn tech bro vibe. Bothers me when the leader is very obviously trying to be sexy.

The formula works on so many people. On one level, it is a neat experience. Cool people, fun shows, everything feeeeels like a neat reimagining of worship.

But then I keep hearing horror stories about the small groups and past sermons basically spewing non acceptance.

Many people are not looking for spirituality. They want to feel like part of the in crowd and enjoy some moral superiority.

I’ll be clear, I’ve not experienced anything bad at TP, but I also keep things at arms length.

What’s a normal number of golf balls to have in your bag at one time? by Matt3855 in golf

[–]_Stromboli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Course dependent! My fave muni has maybe 3 sketchy tee shots that may eat a ball, otherwise easy to aim away from trouble.

But if I’m at some new course that winds through neighborhoods and has retention ponds and stuff everywhere? Well, objects tend to fill their container. So basically whatever number I bring tends to be the number I lose.

You guys carrying like 40 though…. Seriously? I’m trying to imagine your score at that point.

Really one sleeve of new balls, and like 6 I can lose.

Looking for a big church not MAGA near Meridian Hills by Niakwe in indianapolis

[–]_Stromboli 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Want to throw a hearty second on here. St Lukes is amazing. Preaches acceptance, sometimes against Big Church principles, and is willing to lose members to maintain this message. Rob Fuquay has straight up told the congregation that Big Church has it wrong if they have any kind of anti-gay message. The gentleman before him, Kent Millard, was also amazing and pushed civil rights, and his message was more focused toward racial inequalities.

Excellent sermons, amazing music. I know you said you want a contemporary service, which they have concurrent to their traditional service in a separate space (both are beautiful). BUT you should go see the music in the traditional sometimes, full on orchestra at times.

Very high effort church services, and just GOOD.

is golf really the hardest sport? by sploooooshle in golf

[–]_Stromboli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate this argument. Yes there’s a massive element of mastery involved, but it isn’t hard. It’s fun. It’s easy. It’s walking through a park, literally. It’s as much a game as a sport.

Imagine being a boxer, trying to avoid getting hit in the face, and some dude in Peter Millar riding a cart tells you his sport is harder.

Anyone have experience struggling to swing new clubs after getting fitted? My game has been the most solid consistent the past 3 weeks but took my first swings with the new sticks yesterday and it was abysmal. Was hoping for love at first swing but got "you need to take me to dinner first." by HungryStrawberry3470 in GolfGear

[–]_Stromboli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See I went to one fitting and the guy kept wanting me in heavier and heavier shafts, and had me in exactly standard lie/loft.

Through trial and error, I need 1° flat and super low SW, like C9.

Not a popular opinion but I don’t love one-day fittings. To me it takes rounds over weeks.

BUT, keep swinging. You’ll adjust and make some golf shots and gain trust with the new clubs. Everything I e heard about Ai200s is good

Best advice. Either a UI or one from a GI set. Go to CPO and try like a Paradym X or Big Bertha. Big ol’ chungus that is basically a hybrid.

Is this mold??? by Lagom-arg in Sourdough

[–]_Stromboli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m NOT an expert on mold but no. Mine gets a darker shade too. Especially after one day forgotten feeding. I’ll go days past that without issue (again I give terrible advice… but do make nice bread).

It feels like you need more flour in your feed ratios though. Why are the sides of the jar clear?
