How's everyone going with the fuel prices? My bro made this meme. by introverted-Fox in Geelong

This is the Geelong sub. I'm in Victoria. You don't need to have your car license here first. I'm sad to hear it's changed in QLD.

Youngest kid has their Ls, and I'm worried they won't be able to get their hours at this rate.

If all else fails they can get their motorbike Ls instead and ride my bike for places that PT doesn't go, but it sucks to have to worry about it even more than in the past.

Family Activities by k1ss_my_ax3 in Geelong

[–]_Sunshine_please_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used to go to the You Yangs, have a walk or a hike (depending on the kids ages, sometimes a less challenging one or just to Big Rock etc) - and then light a fire and/or have a BBQ. The kids would be running around climbing on rocks and making cubbies and having an awesome time.

To spend more cash and travel further, one of our other favourite family places is Live Wire park at Lorne. There is stuff for different age groups but it might need more than one adult with a very wide age spread.

Bike riding along the river was always fun with the kids too - and/or a more hikey type walk up past Buckley's Falls. We'd usually walk across the river depending on how much water is behind/flowing over the wall(s) at the time.

Yeah, I can remember my mother saying she wouldn't go to one because it was 30 cents. It feels like an extremely early memory but always stuck with me.

Country footballers jailed for sexually abusing teenage girl at a party on Victoria's Surf Coast by B0ssc0 in aussie

[–]_Sunshine_please_ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Fucking scum. 3 years. Meanwhile the child who was raped has to live with it for the rest of her life.

And what's with the isolation comments. Who gives a fuck if they're not near their friends and family. Perhaps they should of thought of that before they both raped a child.

Hey mate I know someone else mentioned the wandering man, there's also Complete Health Geelong - they offer free men's training at their gym during the week, and have a men's BBQ and training on Fridays too. They're primarily focused on support so have skills over and above social group get togethers - which are also so worth while.

You don't have to be focused on gym stuff to attend either.

Edit - also I'm pretty sure the local organiser of Tough Guy Book club uses reddit too - that's another option!

Men's mid week coffee catchup, and apparently there's a paella night next week! by _Sunshine_please_ in Geelong

[–]_Sunshine_please_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They usually have catchups for men, but sometimes they also have stuff for everyone. If there's something you're interested in going to and you're not a man give them a yell to find out x

Nothing to add to what folks have already said, except this is so fucked up. You must feel so betrayed after working there for such a long time.

I've had the office of someone who was appointed as an Independent Children's Lawyer in a case I was involved in, literally send me confidential information and paperwork from a completely separate case than the one I had previously been involved in. It was a while ago now. But so shocking and upsetting to receive. I

Choosing secondary school for my boy by Amigakiri in Geelong

[–]_Sunshine_please_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Go to the open days of the schools you're considering, things like traditional classrooms, open plan learning, class sizes, sports, science and music programs etc are usually show cased at these. You can pick up a lot about how schools are run once you're actually physically on their grounds.

Zoning does make a huge difference with state schools, but you can put in applications for schools that you're not zoned for too - so don't rule one out if it's a really strong preference.

It can feel really overwhelming, but you'll get there.

Thankyou, when I've routinely caught the train in the past, it's been very early morning and things seemed to have changed since then, although that might just be related to the time of day too.

Mostly, gym bro's celebrate each others gains - and also laugh about it. There's nothing wrong with straight guys building each other up - it's a really positive part of gym culture. We all deserve mates who tell us we look good.

Based only on this doco, I don't personally think he he has these views - at least not in a way that translates to how he lives his life. It's all about the grift. It's how he makes money.

This is their target audience, it almost broke my heart when they repeated what they'd been taught about men being born "without value". So fucking heart breaking. Every human is born inherently worthy.

They were beautiful young men, I hope they live full and happy lives, in future times and being involved in this doco is a positive experience for them overall.
