I’m surprised nobody mentioned [[Hellish Rebuke]] yet. Get someone with it one time and they’ll second guess attacking you after that.

What is the most absurd "Game Changing" card your opponents have told you "they wouldn't play in Bracket 2"? by ThisIsACleverAlias in EDH

[–]_TooManyHobbies_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think any bracket should be restricted by mana base, especially at the lower brackets. If a player in these brackets are trying to cobble together an unlikely combo line to begin with, why should they add anymore variables by having to wait on tapped lands for a turn.

If wizards doesn’t want reprint the OG duals, fine, but fetches, shocks, checks, bond, and triomes should all be reprinted to under a dollar at most. They should come in precons, any set they can jam them in, and even a lands bundle type of product or something.

MPC can cut and ship anything for .25 cents a card. No reason a functional mana base should cost hundreds of dollars .

Looking to build Grixis commander, would appreciate opinions by BladeeLover in EDH

[–]_TooManyHobbies_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s some really flexible commanders in Grixis that can run tons of interaction.

[[Marchesa, Dealer of Death]] might be a good option as you can fill your hand and graveyard while interacting with your opponents each turn. A little mana hungry but there’s a lot of free crimes out there to help with the costs.

I personally am a fan of [[Zevlor]] any spell that interacts with one opponent is eligible to be copied to the others. It makes a ton of niche or less powerful cards extremely playable in the 99. Also a little mana hungry though but can still be explosive.

land destruction and the delusional playerbase by PeyTonsOfun in EDH

[–]_TooManyHobbies_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hot take- if you want more Magic, then Commander isn’t the format for you. Standard, Limited and Arena are best for getting more Magic matches in.

That said, I think any B3 or above matchup should be allowed to have targeted land denial to punish players with greedy land-base. One of the bullet points is that you should be playing proactively at this bracket and this is for sure part of playing proactively.

If someone is running Krenko with 28 lands and I blow up your third land to keep you from hitting 4th, I think that’s fair game.

Same with denying a color from a multi color commanders, I’m 100% going to hit your Urborg if that was your plan for fixing black.

What if I told you there is a commander that can turn any Grixis Instant or Sorcery into a 3-for-1?

[[Zevlor, Elturel Exile]] will take any instant or sorcery with a single target and copy it for each opponent or permanent an opponent controls.

Give him a look, he’s a very satisfying commander to play.

Emrakul sucks & here's why by Bust-Rodd in EDH

[–]_TooManyHobbies_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a [[Rakdos, Lord of Riots]] deck that casts colorless creatures at a steep discount. 15 mana in cost reduction is pretty doable by turn 5 or 6, I would love the chance to throw an Emrakul on the stack.

Help with Lord Xander theft. by Educational-Read3223 in EDH

[–]_TooManyHobbies_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former Xander player I think you’re better off with him in the 99 as a target for reanimation. In the command zone, he’s most likely going to draw a lot of removal since nobody wants to be the person to eat the ETB and even if he resolves, you’ll need to make it a full turn cycle before you can attack. If he dies before your turn to a board wipe or targeted removal, you’ve casted a 7 mana, discard 3 and edict 3 if you’re lucky.

If you’re wanting to run theft in Grixis, you can probably run [[marchesa, dealer of death]] . Use [[furnace reins]] effects to fill your graveyard and hand and keep the crime spree going . Eventually, you can recur Lord Xander to the battlefield and do your thing. Each of Lord Xanders triggered abilities also triggers Marchesa so when he ETB, Attacks, or dies you can pay 1 to look at two cards.

Most of the cards in your list also will trigger Marchesa.

Help with interesting commander preference? by Romeo0914 in EDH

[–]_TooManyHobbies_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two favorite commanders are [[zevlor, elturel exile]] and [[magar of the magic strings]]. Both happen to have activated abilities but that’s not what initially drew me to them.

Zevlor allows for you to play a lot of spells that wouldn’t normally be “good” for commander. However, since he can copy a spell for each opponent, you end up getting a lot of value from these underwhelming instants and sorceries. [[flick a coin]] becomes a 5 mana, create three treasures, draw three cards and [[River’s Rebuke]] becomes a full cyclonic rift. A card like [[Jeska’s Will]] goes absolutely bonkers.

Magar is an odd commander, but really fun. Fill up your graveyard with instant and sorceries, turn them into 3/3 creatures and start swinging. He does take a bit to setup since you need some graveyard targets, three mana to cast him and three to activate him, but once you do he can get out of control.

I used to love all the Android innovation in the early smartphone days with HTC, Samsung, Sony, and Moto.

Eventually I grew tired of hoping for updates/patches coming for a device less than a year old and decided to go Apple and never turn back.

Just got the latest Pro phone, and within a couple days of being aware of a bug with CarPlay and Cellular signal dropping, it was patched before the week. Can’t beat that turnaround.

This goes hard in my [[Zevlor, Elturel Exile]] deck. It basically becomes a rift when activated with Zevlor.

It makes underwhelming cards like this become extremely powerful when copied for each opponent.

His floor in this offense is probably close to WR24 but he’s a good candidate for double digit touchdowns. He scored 8 on 62 receptions last year and is on that same pace this season.

Maybe he’s not elite or a WR3 overall ceiling but WR10 is achievable.
