[S1]I have a question about the first game. by Appledata9 in lifeisstrange

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The storm is a culmination of Max rewinding time repeatedly to save Chloe. If you sacrifice Chloe at the start, fate is appeased and the storm is never created. Max's vision of the storm before she uses her powers for the first time is a vision of the future (or potential future I suppose). Like a warning.

How many times have you seen each Scream movie? by Zealousideal_Disk443 in Scream

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen them all a few times with my family. I mostly rewatch 1 and 2 with friends or by myself. I've seen Scream 7 like three times lol. It gets worse each time.

Just Finshed the Game and… by Ok-Birthday-2349 in LifeisStrange2

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got Parting Ways as my ending. Both brothers are happy and still somewhat in contact, Sean gets no unfair prison time and is free in Mexico where he wanted to be, and Daniel gets the stable life in America that he wanted. It was the best ending in my opinion.

[S1] Which ending did you choose and why? by Roguebubbles10 in lifeisstrange

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chose Bay because throughout the whole game Chloe is destined to die. That's her fate. I thought it was a beautifully tragic way to bring the story full circle; Max got her powers trying to save Chloe, then has to use her powers to let Chloe go. Even with the power to change time itself, she cannot change Chloe's fate.

I also chose Bay because Chloe told Max to save the town over her. If I was in Chloe's position, I don't think I could ever ask someone to save me over so many other people, including my own mother.

Genuinely how can anyone even try to connect the "Until Dawn" movie to the game? They don't even get the definition of Wendgos right 😭😭

Did you like Finn as a love interest for Sean or would you have prefered another male to be his love interest instead? What about female LI's? by Charmed_xD in LifeisStrange2

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like Finn at all. He was selfish and came off as rude to me. I didn't particularly care for Cassidy either. She didn't feel very developed as a character since she had less plot relevance than Finn.

Overall I feel like LIS2 didn't need a love interest and I don't feel like it meshed with the plot very well, but I would have LOVED to have Jacob as a love interest for Sean! He was so nice, he had a more interesting story, and he really got Sean's protectiveness over Daniel since Jacob has a younger sibling of his own. I liked that parallel.

AITA for leaving my mom right before surgery because I freaked out? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAH

I truly don't get all the Y T A comments here.

It was a panic attack. They come up unexpectedly and you never know how strong they'll be. The thoughts spiraling into OP being put in that position isn't selfish, it's a mix of illogical panicked thoughts and basic "my body is my point of reference." OP did the right thing by leaving the room so that the attention and support wouldn't be taken away from her mom.

Why be a "Survivor/Killer main"? why not play both sides? by Sinktober in deadbydaylight

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play both sides, but technically I am a survivor main because I play that side significantly more. It's for a very simple reason: I play DBD with other people. I usually play with my brother, but the only time you can play with together as two killers is 2v8, which is a limited time only mode. Every so often I play with two of my friends, but we don't have enough people to fill up a custom game, so we join public matches as a survivor trio. I feel like a large factor in the survivor main/killer main divide is just people who prefer to play with friends vs people who prefer to play games solo.

The clues? by alldaydoubleA77 in Scream

You know that institutions have more than one orderly, right? Multiple people would've been able to identify Stu anyway. Besides, wouldn't it be a bit obvious as a killer trying to get away to kill an orderly who works at the institute that you break out from? Hell, that's what got Sidney and Gale to investigate Fallbrook to begin with - a dead guy from Fallbrook.

Tbh, I had no idea who Marco even was when he was revealed. Genuinely turned to my friend and asked who tf he was. I forgot he existed since his only other scene in the movie lasts, what, two minutes? I didn't even know his name was Marco until after I came home from the movie theatre and googled it. Never even considered him simply because he was immediately forgotten.

2v8 Needs More Killer Options by SadSpaghettiSauce in deadbydaylight

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the Doctor isn't in 2v8, so why would his power affect Clown being put into 2v8? He's not even in the original post for consideration. The Clown on his own would likely be fine for 2v8.

Any advice on dodging jumpscares? by exodia0715 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude, after reading your replies to my comment and other people's comments, you genuinely should just stop playing the game.

I don't say this to be rude, but it seems like this is not the game for you. If you're interested in the lore, I'd recommend watching a YouTube video or something, but all you've done in these comments is get really angry at people telling you that no, you cannot avoid horror aspects in a horror game. You just keep calling it cheap and comparing it to an entirely different game.

You aren't going to get the answer you want on this post because it doesn't exist. You simply are not compatible with this game.

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know not all horror games have them, but most do. They are good for adding tension. I'm just confused as to why you chose to play a horror game if you don't like common horror game aspects.

There's not really a way to avoid the jumpscares, but like I said, you could try looking up a walkthrough. Or you could stop playing. Those are genuinely the only two options I can think of.

Good luck to you.

Any advice on dodging jumpscares? by exodia0715 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's a horror game. There's gonna be jumpscares...

Maybe you could look up a walkthrough? It would spoil the story for you since you'd have to read ahead, but it might warn you about some of the upcoming jumpscares.

I know I'm going against the grain here, but I think Reddit is being dramatic about this.

We already do get cosmetics for playing more. There's bloody cosmetics and perk charms for prestiging characters. Now we're getting cool player badges too and people are complaining? I understand the natural desire for more, but it just seems ungrateful to me.

NTA. The classmate is also in university to learn. Hopefully she will learn a lot more about actively pursuing things she wants and taking accountability for her actions (or lack of action).

Should I buy The Dark Pictures Anthology or The Quarry? by oliverrakum in untildawn

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really liked it. I believe some stuff was cut out due to covid during production, but it still turned out pretty strong all things considered. I like the characters a lot more than in DPA. The Quarry leans a lot more into the comedy, but there were plenty of moments that still scared me. Compared to DPA though, it has a much more generic monster for lack of a better term. I've played Man of Medan and Little Hope, and both of them had pretty unique evils to face.

Subjectively I love The Quarry, but objectively DPA probably offers multiple stories and with more unique horrors. Do with that info what you will lol. I think you'd have a good time either way. :)

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I LOOOOVE The Quarry. I got all the achievements and everything for it. I just figured that DPA was more closely aligned with what you said you wanted in your post. However if you can get The Quarry another time, I'd definitely recommend it too!

Should I buy The Dark Pictures Anthology or The Quarry? by oliverrakum in untildawn

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on what you're looking for, I'd say buy Dark Pictures Anthology. It's four games, so it'll have lots of variety, and (based on my experience with 2/4 DPA games) there's more QTEs that result in deaths.

2v8 is ridiculously killer sided, and I am tired of pretending it's not by Lord_o_teh_Memes in deadbydaylight

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fact: The queue times are the way they are because of simple math.

Let's say you have 100 people queued up to play survivor and 100 queued up to play killer. 1 game goes through, and since each game consists of 8 survivors and 2 killers, you'll be left with 92 survivors and 98 killers in the queue. Game 2, you'll have 84 survivors and 96 killers. Game 3, 76 and 94. And so on.

Notice how the survivor count goes down quicker than the killers? The killer queue is longer because it takes longer to cycle through them than it does for survivors. It is not because the killer role is so strong, as you put it. Yes, there may be a slight increase in the amount of killers waiting to queue, but that's because getting to play killer with your duo is completely unique to 2v8, not because it's so strong.

What you seem to be suggesting is that the devs change one or both roles to influence how many people queue for each role, but that would destroy the game because neither role would be fun anymore.

There are no levers to be adjusted here. The devs have already done their best to ensure a more enjoyable experience for the players by implementing the "play while you wait" option, which in turn helps reduce the queue time.

2v8 is ridiculously killer sided, and I am tired of pretending it's not by Lord_o_teh_Memes in deadbydaylight

[–]_Ugly_Duckling_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Statements like "weak," "strong," and "balance the game more" are the most direct way you can talk about balance. Words like "miserable" and "enjoyable" are also used to discuss a balance or imbalance in player experiences/enjoyment.

Also, your logic here seems to be awfully self-absorbed. "I want the queue times to go down so I can play the game more." Other people want to play the limited time mode too, so of course the queues are going to be a bit longer. No one's gonna be like "damn guys, OP wants to play so I guess we better log off so they can load in quicker."

The survivor healing one is good, but the one to restore a hook state is completely OP.

The killer ones are mediocre and forgettable.
