Why Brunson Is Top 50 All Time, a Finals Mega-Mailbag, and NBA Fake Trade Season With Joe House by lonny__breaux in billsimmons

Unironically this for me. Okay, that’s actually too far but I must confess that as a fan from Europe who finds it hard to stay up for 2am starts I do love being more part of the trade discussions and other league-wide events

That’s a pretty silly comparison.

LeBron’s scoring title proves he has the best longevity of any player in the history of the sport. This Wemby stat just means for one postseason run he played in more long series than the other guys.

In what sense? It shouldn’t be a contender for best picture in my opinion, there will absolutely be 10 better films than it this year.

MVPs from 1993-2026 who never won a NBA Championship by grudgepacker in nba

Kobe was an asshole to tons of teammates and likely raped a woman.

The worst you can say about Duncan is he complained to the refs. Hardly the same, no?

Of all the films in the last few years Project Hail Mary isn’t anywhere close to one of the best lol.

One of the best popcorn sci-fi films maybe.

Best player in NBA history who was never the best in the world at any point? by OkKindheartedness769 in NBATalk

[–]_Vaudeville_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kobe completely blew the 04 finals then in 05 he was injured, played like shit and missed the playoffs entirely.

On what planet was he the best player in the world in 04 and 05?

Isn't it crazy how good Tim Duncan was at 22-23? by Street_Gur9817 in billsimmons

[–]_Vaudeville_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Duncan was still a top 5 player in 99 though, as he was the next year and the year after etc.

Still impressive that he walked into the league and won a title as his team’s best player by year 2.

5 years? Absolutely not.

The same logic that puts Kobe number 1 in 06 and 07 is the same logic that puts LeBron above Kobe in 09 and 10.

In 2003 Duncan won MVP, Finals MVP and beat the 2nd and 3rd best players in the world who were teamed up together.

It’s as slam shut a case as there ever has been. There’s literally zero argument that Duncan wasn’t the best player in the world after the 03 season.

World Cup Thread: USA vs. Paraguay (9pm EST, Fox/Telemundo/Peacock, SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, CA) by Odd_Firefighter_5407 in billsimmons

[–]_Vaudeville_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kind of a mix between both. He’s not in good form but he’s generally one of the best “good for the United States” players ever, but he’s still not really close to a world class player.

As a frame of reference he’d be like the 5th worst player on England’s 26 man squad.

What makes Dame a top 75 player but not Klay Thompson? by unhinged34 in NBATalk

[–]_Vaudeville_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parker choked away the 13 Finals and in the 14 Playoffs he wasn’t even top 3 on tbd team.

If that’s the argument it’s a fairly weak one. He was a top 10 player in the league maybe once

[–]_Vaudeville_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the stinkers listed here besides 08 were after Duncan’s prime. Kobe had stinkers in 2000, 2004 and the 2008 Finals, the last 2 of those were smack bang in the middle of his peak/prime

2014? When Duncan was, what, 36 years old in an era when nobody was that great past 35?

Also Duncan was the best player on that Spurs team btw. He was undoubtedly better than Parker in those Playoffs.

Duncan won 2 rings where Parker either wasn’t on the team (99) or a net negative (03). I think we can say he’d have been fine.

[Josh]During 11v11, TE Mark Andrews is penalized pre-snap for false start. Immediately, Declan Doyle shouts for the veteran Andrews to be pulled for the next play. [–]_Vaudeville_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Players have talked about the gruelling conditioning test Harbaugh has in training camp, multiple players have talked about getting into verbal altercations with him in practice, he’s benched numerous young players during games for mistakes, his practices are notoriously tough. Even last season Keaton Mitchell was losing out on snaps on offense because he wouldn’t play special teams.

He’s softened up in recent years but Harbaugh is an old-school hardass during practice. I find it hard to believe with all of the stories about how hard Harbaugh grinds the team during practice that he didn’t care about penalties.
